A new CraftBukkit Beta Build (1.7.2-R0.2) that provides Minecraft 1.7.2 compatibility is now available. Please note: the stability of this build is relatively unknown due to the impact Minecraft 1.7 had on the core code. This build contains a fix for potion/mob effects not being removed on player death, among other things.

Will plugins break with this build?
Minecraft 1.7 is one of the most involved and impactful updates to date, bringing about many changes to the core of Minecraft. As a result, there is a chance that plugins might break with this build. Even if that isn't the case, we have not completed work on API changes for 1.7 yet so future builds might still break plugins.

    What is a Beta build?
A Beta Build is in between a developer build and a Recommended Build. These builds simply work and are promoted much more frequently than a Recommended Build. While we will do some testing before promoting a beta build, we will not be running it through our extensive test process. As such, there are no guarantees that they will not contain minor bugs. If we do find out they are broken, we will mark it as such on DLB and promote a new one. A beta build may contain incomplete API and new features but they should not interfere with running the build in any way.

This particular Beta build, like every first few Beta builds for a Minecraft update, is primarily made available to help facilitate more testing coverage to bring us closer to a Recommended Build sooner. Please consider running this Beta build to give us a hand with discovering issues we need to address in order to reach a Recommended Build.

    Notable changes include:
    • Minecraft 1.7 moved clickable link creation to the server but there doesn't seem to be any support for links built into the server yet. We've added this back since it is such a widely used feature.
    • Minecraft 1.7 now uses Log4j2 to handle logging, resulting in new logging behaviour. Logs are no longer saved to 'server.log' and, instead, are saved to the 'logs' directory with the name 'latest.log'. There is also built in support for rotating logs in the format of yyyy-MM-dd-#.log.gz" (where # increases with every new log created that same day). If you'd rather have the old server.log back, I wrote up an article on how to do this on my blog here.
    Known Issues:
    • The new commands in Minecraft 1.7 have not been added to CraftBukkit yet.
For more detailed information on what is contained in this update, please see the changelog here.

I still have a bug with random fog in water and a lot of other people on forums have this issue
when will it be addressed and or fixed! EDIT: I ran a pure just bukkit no plugins or config file changes server and I still have the issue.

Judging by the pace of the workflow, how long do you estimate it will be before a new Bukkit official release is made?

I'm not a fan of Beta builds when it comes to software as they tend to do more harm than good, but the vanilla Minecraft server software isn't faring much better (I keep getting "Java IO" errors that keep kicking everyone from the server simultaneously), not to mention I'd like to have some plugins again, so here's one guy seriously anticipating the stable release!

Great work on the build. I think I may have seen a bug where when you place a water bucket(ID No. 326) It places 2 of ID No. 8 one on top of the other. It creates a bit of a hassle to make the water go away. Thanks!

Server is running amazing now, but people keep getting kicked from server randomly. Don't know if its the new build, but figured I would put it out there. Thanks for all the great work and happy coding ^v^

I get kicking errors in mine as well, and I'm using Mojang's 1.7.4.jar, so I'm not so sure that this might be an issue with Bukkit as much as a Minecraft bug... I've seen lots of people complaining about it. It might be something Mojang needs to address, rather than Bukkit.

It shouldn't really be surprising. I mean, just how much of an update was 1.7 again? A million lines of code or something? Unforeseen side-effects are to be expected.

They should add a way to search by the plugin's command. ex. search /nick ,/nick [player] [nickname]

If the screen is all white when underwater, that's a bug in Minecraft that doesn't always seem to appear.

Where are the new 1.7 commands like /summon, /setblock and /testforblock?
Maybe I should have looked at the actual post.

Man I don't think I can wait any longer haha. How stable is this? Is the fact that there so few comments here a good thing? ;-)

Should I get this very version or just the latest dev build on dl.bukkit.org?

Any new word on a stable version of this plugin? We would like to upgrade but would still like a more stable build before we move forward. This post is a month old now and just curious what is happening.

Is it true that you can't use /summon? It's a new command in 1.7.2 and I don't think it's implemented yet, when will it be?

I've been running this beta build on a near 24/7 basis since its release. It has been performing quite well for us, and apart from the occasional ReadTimeOut disconnects (which may well have to do with my server config or the client), I haven't come across any major issues.
Great work; I look forward to the RB! [diamond]

Runnning beta sinds it is released, Well we've got some problems with WorldEdit-plugin, but that's all. No lag, no unnessesery kicks.
Keep up the good work, We 'll be on the lookout for the RB.

I want to give the Beta a try since a few have said it works good. I am thinking if I have a plugin which is not updated to the Beta should I disable it to be safe.
