Since Minecraft 1.7.2 was released on October 25th we've been putting in a ridiculous amount of work non-stop towards a CraftBukkit for Minecraft 1.7.2 and I am happy to finally be able to announce that we now have development builds available. We strongly suggest that you only use this build if you would like to help us get a Beta build out sooner and are experienced with using unsupported development builds.

WARNING: Minecraft 1.7.2 is an update that requires clients to update before being able to connect.

    What is a Development Build?
A Development build is provided AS IS and COMPLETELY UNSUPPORTED. You should only be running these builds if you are completely aware of how to properly make use of them. Support requests of ANY KIND will be removed without warning. If you have to ask where or how to get the development build, you should NOT be running it and posts of that nature will be deleted.

Will plugins break with this build?
Minecraft 1.7 is one of the most involved updates to date, with Mojang having touched a reported ~220k+ lines of code. As a result, a significant amount of the code base has shifted making it difficult to ensure any stability with regards to our API. That being said, it is difficult to determine if plugins will be breaking with our 1.7.2 update and the state of the API in our earlier development builds should NOT be relied upon in any way.

    Known Issues:
    • None

Is there a place I'm supposed to place bugs? If so I'll move this.

Data tags don't work at all, I tried /give @p bow 1 0 {display:{Name:"Archer's Bow"}} and it works in vanilla, but not in Bukkit. It will just give me a normal bow.

Bukkit is still working out with the new commands because of their naming system, just chill.

I'm very late, but congrats anyways guys! This is the biggest update (or so I've heard) that you guys have done so far. I would like to give my thanks to all the Bukkit staff (I would thag them, but I won't). Kepp up the good work and good luck on future updates!

I'm chill, but it doesn't say that they never added it in, so... I was only posting this in case the Bukkit devs didn't know it didn't work. They said post bugs, I would consider this a bug.

A question...I've noticed a fix in the latest snapshot (MC-41165 - SetSlot packet can no longer set item under cursor) for a bug which apparently broke all plugins that use the "Inventory as a menu" system. Was that one the famous bug that, according to the devs, made that they could not publish any Recommended builds? And now that it'll be fixed, will there be Recommended builds for MC 1.7.3? Or there are any other serious enough to avoid that?

May you tell me how to do it? I tried it and it didn't work for me.

Is this update too buggy? When would the stable release be out? I have never updated so I have no idea.

Great Job Guys! :D I have been waiting a little bit for it, but that is fine because I wasn't really using my server that much. Anyway, since it is out now, I have messed around with it like everything is smooth even though I have bad computers that I use to play minecraft and the server on, it still runs really smooth. I have tested some plugins that are meant for 1.6.4 and they work perfectly fine. Some of those plugins are permissionsex, worldedit, automessage, essentials, and more. I am really surprised how all these plugins work amazingly great on this development build. Well I will keep testing more plugins and I could repost more that work or didn't work on here or on the plugin's forum, but thanks for making this it is awesome and I really hope that there won't be anymore updates or at least not for a couple months since this is probably the biggest update by far and I have to mess around with everything on the server for the new updates. I hope that Minecraft will just stop updating lol maybe sometime in the future it will. Anyway, thanks again for making this awesome and amazing build and keep up the great work! :D I am thinking about learning java and maybe developing my own plugin, but I am not sure what sort of plugin to make and such and it will take a while to get used to but maybe that will be something for the summer! :D

I can hardly wait for a beta to be out, seems like everything's starting to chug along!

  13. Great Job Guys! :) I have been testing for bugs and only found one. Spawn Protection Doesn't seem to work. I haven't got any more plugins or anything. It could be that I updated a few plugins. But hopefully you can look into that :)

It's not perfect, but it works pretty well. Just be sure to do the following first:
    1. Make a complete backup of your Minecraft folder and subfolders.
    2. Check each of your plugins for updates.

Anyone else having issues with hunger bars? Even after I eat food like steak (high saturation), my hunger bar almost immediately starts to deplete.

Also, my permissions system seems to be iffy... one second it'll function perfectly, and the next I'll have no permissions at all. Using PEX, which seems to be a generic perms plugin.

Other than that I'm extremely impressed by the work of the bukkit team and plugin coders to keep their stuff updated. Kudos to you :)

Most 1.7 commands have yet to be implemented, last I'd read.

Hot damn, so many 1.6.4 plugins working with this, I am surprised.

I have no PEX issues on 1.7.2 - it's probably a plugin conflict or bad configuration

Before you know it, Mojang will be releasing 1.7.9. I guess if you round up, that's equivalent to 1.8. (I wish, for the sake of not having to update again in a few months.)

I do have a question concerning updates though. Since there is a 1.7.4 MC version now, does that mean you'll push out a beta build for 1.7.2, then focus on a build for 1.7.4? I do realise you can run a 1.7.x server with any 1.7.x client.

Installed 1.72 on a small public server with 10 users. Let my son and his friends beat on it for several hours and there are no problems. I had to update Dynmap and that is all. Server started with a clean log.

    Plugins I run
    Dynmap 1.91
    Essentials (Full package)
    GroupManager
    Multiverse (Full package) 2.5
    WorldGuard 5.8
    WorldEdit 5.5.7
    Structuresaver 1.1

Running on oracle java 1.7.0.09 on Centos 5.8 Final

    Awsome !!!!!!!

Structuresaver is meant to be a one-time execution with 1.6.4, and should then be removed before running 1.7.2.

  26. No, only 1.7.3 and 1.7.4 :p

Yes I know, It just got copied over from 1.64. Probably remove it from here on.

    I'm new to servers/bukkit.

    Will this work with 1.7.4?

If not, when do you plan on releasing that update?

Minecraft 1.7.4 is an update that addresses some client-side bugs. An update to your server is not required for 1.7.4 players to be able to join your 1.7.2 server.
