I run a bukkit server for a few friends and family, my computer is more than sufficient to support the 4 people i have playing at once, including myself but when i join using localhost, it lags ridiculously. whats strange is, the server recieves packets my client sends immediately but my client lags and doesn't recieve them back for ages, for example if i type something all my friends on the server will see it immediately, but i won't see it for about 20-30 seconds, same with block breaking and chunk updates. joining through localhost when there are no others playing, or just 1, will not have any lag.

My processor is not even past half its usage during these times, so its not a hardware issue. Please help me, this is driving me fucking insane, i never had these problems before 1.3

    my specs
    AMD 1055t x6 @3.5ghz
    8gb ddr3 1333mhz ram
    1tb spinpoint f3 hdd
    GTX 470 1280mb GDDR5

I really hope you can help

    Thanks

    -Steve

I'm not sure what the problem could be. Try connecting using 127.0.0.1 and also try connecting using your machine's ip address.

Thanks for the response, i've tried connecting through 192.168.0.50 my static ip, i've tried my hamachi 5.189.bla.bla.bla address, i've tried localhost and 127.0.0.1 but i still get the same issue. it's really strange and i bought this computer specifically for minecraft hosting so it will really hurt my balls if i can't get it to work :(

    Killburner

Are you running any antivirus software on this system? Hopefully you are. There have been numerous reports of antivirus software "chewing" on the newer 1.3 region format (.mcr files), resulting in horrible lag. Try excluding your world folder(s) in your antivirus application.

    TnT

Not that strange, both the client and the server are hard on resources. If you play on the same system you host your server on, you'll likely have issues.

Yes killburner i'm using avast, thanks for that i'll exclude it and try it

TnT would you please explain? I don't understand how they can be hard on resources with 8gb 1333mhz ram and a 6 core processor running at 3.5ghz per core, when both the game is running and 5 players are online the overall cpu usage is not above 60%, and the ram is not even close to max usage. Also, i never had these issues prior to 1.3

    Thanks
