    Permissions 3.0
Rcjrrcjr has been working quite hard on this upgrade to Permissions. However, it currently still suffers from a number of bugs. The most important of these which directly affects HeroChat is the non-functioning of prefixes and suffixes. There are less-than-pretty workarounds, but I'm refraining from fully supporting an update until Permissions 3.1 is released which should include a number of significant bug fixes. When this does occur, however, I have a build ready for you guys that should work. You can download it here. Again, I highly suggest not using this until Permissions 3.1 is released unless you really don't care about prefixes and such.

See you when I get back!

Is your config resetting when you make changes?
If you make changes to the config while the server is running, you need to use the /ch reload command to make the changes stick. I wish this message wasn't necessary, but people only seem to read things in big, bold, red text (if at all).

Have a problem? a feature request? Go here.
HeroChat now has its very own redmine found here. If you have an issue or would like to suggest a new feature, I urge you to file it via redmine. I will be checking this much more often than this thread from here on out.

Hmmm... I feel like I've got "Global Abuse" going on in my server. I'd love to force everyone into Local when they login... but setting Local as the default channel never seems to work.

I edited the config file, set default to "Local". Did a "ch reload". Deleted all of the files under "users". Reloaded my plugins.... and everyone just defaults back into Global.

    What am I doing wrong?

    Hi,

How do I set a Channel as standard Channel?
I want my Local Channel as standard!

    //EDIT: Uh, I'm blind, I think that's why I wear my glasses. <.<

    DThielke

Assuming you want those brackets to be white, set your prefix to '[&4Admin&f]&4 ' and leave the message format as the default.

Reloading the server saves data for any players online during the reload. Regardless, deleting user files probably won't accomplish what you want. The default channel is only ever applied the first time a user logs into the server. After that, HeroChat simply remembers what their last chosen channel was. If you really want to force your users to use local chat, I suggest you remove the global channel and replace it with more specific 'global' channels like help and trade. It will be up to your moderators to keep those channels on topic, forcing users to use local channels for generic chit-chat.

    Change Log

I'm having an issues limiting what channels can go game-to-irc

    game-to-irc:
    # If you use other chat plugins, you probably want to set cancelled-chat: true
    cancelled-chat: true
    all-chat: false
    joins: false
    quits: false
    kicks: false
    bans: false
    irc-to-game:
    all-chat: true
    joins: false
    parts: false
    quits: false
    kicks: false
    nicks: false
    irc-to-irc:
    all-chat: true
    joins: false
    parts: false
    quits: false
    kicks: false
    nicks: false

Are these the tags I need to use?

    Global:
    craftIRC:
    IRC-to-game: [all-chat]
    game-to-IRC: [all-chat]
    craftIRC-tags: [all-chat]
    color: GREEN
    nickname: g
    permissions:
    speak: []
    join: []

Not sure where to place them if so :-/

    DThielke

@imaxorz, the tags you want to use are in the channels: section of your CraftIRC config.

    For example:

    Code:
    channels:
          #### A list of channels; Define here all the channels you want this bot to join. Settings that apply to a single
          #### channel can be defined in the channel node. A dash in the 7th column starts a new channel.
          - name: '#herochat'
            password: ''
#In admin channels, admins can use console commands (when this feature is supported) and be send emergency
            # notices from users.
            admin: false
#This tag targets only this channel.
            tag: 'dhx'
Given this config, the tag you'd use is 'dhx'.

Prefixes and suffixes for groups and individuals are defined in your Permissions config. If you don't have Permissions, you can grab it here.

Also, how do I change the colors of text and add a custom tag?
I have admin mod -- I need a builder tag
    and owner :>
    thanks for the help!

    DThielke

Colors are applied by adding a &c, where c is a hexadecimal value (0-f). To add other tags, you need to create additional groups in permissions. I suggest you consult the permissions thread if you need help with that, as it's not really something directly related to HeroChat.

soo i installed it, and im still using the default settings for this plugin, (except a few channels deleted, leaving the global chat) and whenever i talk, it doubles my message, one output being herochats, and the other is the basic "<zoathewind> TEXT"

i kind of want to get rid of <zoathewind> because its just repeating what i say, has this happened to anyone?

Are you getting any errors? If so, post them. Otherwise, list all the plugins you're using.

    no errors at all,

    plugins:
    antibuild
    borderguard
    chestlock
    defaultcommands
    groupmanager + fakepermissions
    falsebook block/extra/IC
    fencestack
    herochat
    heroicdeath
    loginmessage
    mcstats2
    pluginmanager
    stargate
    textwrap

it doesnt look to me like any of those plugins effect chatting..

well i went back and removed EVERY plugin i was using, and of course the LAST plugin i added back, was the culprit, it was TextWrap.

even though i solved it myself, thanks for your speedy attempt at helping (even though you left halfway through :p)

Great plugin, it will definitely help give a Roleplaying experience on my server.

Only question, what is AlarmSystem? It is a channel, and whenever I leave local it puts me in there. I find it very annoying, seeing as I can not leave the channel and joining other channels still makes the default AlertSystem. I tried making it not Auto-Join and have a password, and even tried deleting the whole thing, but that didn't work. In the console it says it disabled HeroChat.

It'd be great if you can get back to me soon :)

    DThielke

AlarmSystem is a channel just like any other. What other channels are you in when you try to leave local? Are you using the default config without any modifications? If not, post your config.

    CrazyCocoK

I use the original config, and whenever I leave both global and local I get stuck in AlertSystem. The only problem is that it tells me "I can not leave the channel" even after I join another channel.

This forces me to use /l or /g to talk in other channels, which I don't think many people on the server will enjoy doing if they get stuck in Alert.

Is there a way to make it so I can make a group that can't be removed from channels and has all the admin commands except for /ch reload?

I don't want my moderators to reload plugins.

    Also this plugin is amazing.

  22. Offline

    DThielke

Currently no, but I'll make this a separate permission in the next version.

You can't leave the alert channel because it has forced: true, which forces users to stay in it. To set a channel as your default speaking channel, you use /ch <channel>.

As Suda said, great plugin. Other plugins that had similar functions didn't work too well.

hey i some problems, i got dynmap and HeroChat both are very cool.

i like the Chat format i can set in HeroChat but, my problem is when i send a message ingame its dont shown in dynmap chat. but this is one thing why i installed dynmap.

is there anyway to make it able?

  26. Offline

    DThielke

Dynmap will have to add support for HeroChat. The other way around won't work.

I'll add them to the wiki soon, but you can just google hey0 color codes and you should find a list.

Hello dear herochat dev, what do you think to make channel for each area ?
Like one town have regionnal channel and others town another channel ?
Perhaps "namespace" dev can help you for that.

    DThielke

Look up the plugin EpicZones. It allows you to define zones and integrates with HeroChat to make users join/leave region channels upon entering/exiting the associated regions.
