Last night I updated my server to 1.6.4. As suggested in the announcement that was also posted yesterday, I installed and ran StructureSaver. While StructureSaver was working there was 100% CPU and 100% RAM usage. Once it was finished, the CPU usage dropped back down to near 0% but the RAM usage stayed at 100%. I then stopped the server and removed StructureSaver and restarted the server. However, it took almost 3 minutes for the server to start (most of the time spent on world generation), and when the server was finally up and running, the RAM usage was still at 100%.

Has anyone else had any problems updating to 1.6.4 and using StructureSaver as recommended in the announcement? I should also add that it takes 3 minutes to start the server every time I try to start it.

SnipsRevival The longer launch occured becuase the StructureSaver had to save all the loaction of future plugins including one that were not in chunks that have been generated so the server was completing the task by generating the chunks. Give it time the ram should go down.

tcvs How much time are you talking about? It has been about 11 hours now.

SnipsRevival Hmm interesting... Does the server crash? or can it still run.

tcvs It still runs, but it takes quite a while for terrain to generate around me.

SnipsRevival try creating a new world with out running structure saving and see what happens

tcvs Okay now this is getting extremely weird. I did not do what you suggested. Instead, I removed the 1.6.4 craftbukkit jar and put back the 1.6.2 version. As far as I can tell, the server is running just fine again.

SnipsRevival try going back to 1.6.4 but download a new one from dl.bukkit.org and see what happens. If it still is using all the ram try generating a new map.

I'm having a very similar problem.
They recommended that we load 1.6.4 so that we may load up important parts of our world to prepare for 1.7.
When the Dev. build came out I loaded it. I had the same problems CPU & RAM maxed out. I kept getting a java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: GC overhead limit exceeded.
The server did load and run, but I kept getting [WARNING] Can't keep up! Did the system time change, or is the server overloaded.
I removed all my plugins to see if they might be the problem, but it still gave me the same warnings.
I put the 1.6.2 Recommended build and my plugins back in and it ran fine.
Now the recommended build #2912 for 1.6.4-R1.0 is out. So I loaded that one and the same thing happened again, CPU & RAM maxed out. I keep getting a java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: GC overhead limit exceeded is the server already running.
This time I can't even get it to finish loading the server.
I put the 1.6.2 recommended build back in and again, it runs fine.

Yeah, I updated to 1.6.4-R1.0 as recommended, ran structure saver, stopped my server after that finished, removed structure saver, then tried to restart my server. It's now crashing with OOM errors. (12GB RAM)

    Almost same thing for me.
Updated to 1.6.4 R1.0, installed and run sctructure saver, saving has run fine.
All worlds save completed with no errors, and 95% RAM & CPU during work (I assume it's normal), then gone down to 65% of RAM.
Stopped the server, removed structure saver and restarted.
Now it 68% after restart and goes to 100% very quickly.
Did not tested back to 1.6.2 yet.
