Yeah. Maybe try the library and borrow a java book.

Java for Dummies was especially helpful, I highly recommend that. Also, watch a few youtube videos and follow some helpful sites on the Bukkit wiki and java docs.

What I suggest, is following the bukkit wiki tutorial, and referencing the oracle documentation as needed. Then, as you have questions, problems, or simply need direction, be sure to ask here. That way, instead of having one tutor you could have hundreds of tutors....at once.

I suggested this to another kid, he said he was too lazy to check out a book. #kidsthesedays

I am not the best of coding but I would be willing to help you learn a little. HOWEVER, when coding it is crucial you know java first so before I want to help you you need to learn the basics of java. A good place to start iswww.codecademy.com When you are ready add me on skype TheFancyWhale

Good. I am a kid that would prefer to run 2 miles to the library than to ride a bike. #adidas

D: I can't imagine doing anything except on a bike (and a car.. though I suppose I am in the minority of the people here who can drive).

  13. The way i learned (and im still learning) is that i look at the plugin development sections and look at people's errors and see how other plugin developers attempt to help them and see their explanation and i also look at some site like http://jd.bukkit.org/rb/apidocs/ hope you like that site :D

    You called? XD

I will agree with you, YouTube videos just don't cut it. Mostly because the people don't even know Java themselves OR poor explanations. Java For Dummies would be your best bet, I learned quite smoothly with that book.

Having a live person teaching you probably isn't as good I'd say. The teacher would get frustrated probably and you'd be lost because of their mediocre explanations. Java For Dummies explains things as smooth as butter(Yes, Butter). However, once you get the basics of the language, it would probably be to your benefit to have someone to direct some of your confusions or questions to. I know I sure could've used someone..

If you want to learn how to code Bukkit plugins, you need to learn java

I can give you a very helpful channel where they teach you how to code bukkit plugins:
    http://www.youtube.com/TheBCBroz

    Goodluck! :)

Look I am also a bit new to programming but just follow tutorials ask friend, familie I mean the best way is 1 on 1 but tutorials and books should do the trick. The one learns faster than the other and remember nothing is free in this world ;)

You probably shouldn't watch those unless you actually know java.

If you are still a newb, go try TheNewBoston's YouTube Java tutorials.
If you want to try out codecademy they have a range of programming code tutorials.
If you already know Java and want to start out with Bukkit API, try PogoStick29Dev's YouTube channel. He has a tutorial for various things such as coding MiniGames, Admin commands, and just general Java knowledge.
Also another guy to check out is Serilum. He does alot of PvP stuff on his channel, but he also has an old coding series where he shows us how to code a Kit server. I got taught a lot from him

Guys, enough with the "go learn java." Java is a massive language and no one can say "oh brb going to learn java" give him tips on how he should get started with java. Specifics such as if else statements switch statements etc. Btw some of you gave amazing advice.

I've been working on tutorials again lately and plan on making one every 1-2 days for the foreseeable future.

My understanding is that you're asking to spoonfeed you knowledge. That wouldn't happen, no matter how many times you ask in all caps. We're all happy to show you videos, tools, or help address specific questions, but none of us are interested in wasting time on a coder who doesn't have the motivation to watch a video or read a book.

Learn basic basic java first before going to bukkit - otherwise (like me) you'll get confused a bit by what's bukkit and what's java.
Plus - the best way to learn is to have a goal, and build it (with research along the way)

    Try Headfirst Java
