I'm trying to make a set of God armor, which is Leather. The problem is it breaks very quickly with a durability value of around 80.

I've gathered from various forum posts that you can not increase the vanilla max durability of any tool/armor, but could you make it only loose a durability point ever other time? So instead of 80 durability, it'd be 160. Is this possible and how would it work?

Edit: I just realized that the enchantment Unbreaking does this, when a tool/armor is used, it sometimes ignores the use and doesn't damage it, I'm just looking for that, but not enchanted and not random.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but can't you set the metadata of that item to some insane number? Because you can set it to negatives, just thought it may work reverse.

I haven't had any luck with the negative MetaData, the armor gets removed first hit. And I'd like to not add Unbreaking or any enchantment cause I'd like the armor to be able to be enchanted later.
