Hello, I have recently released 3 plugins. These plugins are, EmailAsker, ForceCommand, and MySpawners. Although they are very helpful plugins (at least in my opinion and many people's that I have asked), none of them have gotten above 70 downloads. I'm very curious, how do you get your plugins out there? Also, feel free to check out my plugins and give me feedback in the comments section of them. That will really help me too.

Well, for me personally "All Rights Reserved" means "Don't even bother". If it's not open source, it's out of the question for my server. Its not the most popular opinion, but I know I'm not alone in it.

Other than that, here are my individual opinions:

EmailAsker: this plugin is alright but has a VERY small subset of people who would ever use it. not many servers collect their player's email addresses, and those that do usually have a website to do it.

ForceCommand: The description on this one is confusing.. I can't tell if my players will actually have to type '/fcommand' or if I get to choose what command is required to unlock them. I hope it's the latter. If it really is "/fcommand' then that would be reason enough for me not to use it. I wouldn't ask my players to type a command with a name that doesn't sound like it would do what it does.

MySpawners is an old idea that's been done to death already, the alternatives are more mature with more features.

    I never really advertised =P
RandomTP just was popular I guess. It was featured on the Curse Spotlight some time ago.
So I guess, if a lot of people think it's helpful then I guess it will just kind of happen.

However you can advertise them in your forum signature (within reason). And post on the forums a descent amount. And in Bukkit Help if one of your plugins matches a "What kind of plugin can do this" thread, give yourself a shameless self promotion =P

While I didn't code Custom Professions, I did design and request it so I try to advertise it as much as I can. I use my signature on both here and bukkitdev as well as making a youtube video on it. I've also posted it on reddit, minecraft forums and planet minecraft in the video sections. The video I made has well over 300 views in 5 days so if you have the software, you could just record using them and showing people what they're capable of doing.

Another idea is to look through Plugin Requests and look for people who are asking for plugins to be made that happen to be similar to yours. You can suggest it to them, give them a sample of how to set up a config and then give them a link to the plugin.

I hope this gives you some ideas.

Link your BukkitDev account to your ForumsBukkit account. That will show people you make plugins

    1. Be original! (Don't copy plugins that already exist. Ex. Chest Shops, Tnt Remover, Anything-from-a-tutorial, etc.)

    2. If you can't think of anything, find an original idea from plugin requests.

    3. Use your signature as an advertising tool.

    4. Use proper spelling and grammar on your plugin page.

    5. Don't take the easy way out. Nothing is too advanced. Take the most difficult tasks, if you see that a plugin idea is a gold mine.

    6. Code with love. Plugins made with love will be loved by others.
