CraftBukkit for Minecraft 1.6.2 DEVELOPMENT build is now available!

    A new CraftBukkit for Minecraft 1.6.2 DEVELOPMENT build is now available!

    As of this post, we've shifted development over to Minecraft 1.6.2 compatibility and now have development builds available. We strongly suggest that you only use this build if you would like to help us get a Beta build out sooner and are experienced with using unsupported development builds. If you have to ask where or how to get the development build, you should NOT be running it and posts of that nature will be deleted.

    WARNING: Minecraft 1.6.2 is an update that requires clients to update before being able to connect. This means that players will not be able to connect to your server if they have not updated to Minecraft 1.6.2.

    Will plugins break with this build?
    Minecraft 1.6.x has changed how health is stored for entities, which is something plugin developers have been relying on and expecting to never change. Usually a change of this kind would force us to completely break plugins, however, we've managed to come up with a way to support both the old and new health formats without any problems. This means that all the plugins that would have broken from this change will all work fine, giving plugin developers time to update their plugins properly and allowing you to keep your server running without any issues.

    While we were busy updating CraftBukkit to Minecraft 1.6.1, we realised that the change to how health is handled would cause a lot of headaches for all our server admins and plugin developers, so we spent a lot of time trying to come up with a better way to handle this than simply breaking all plugins. We hope that all the hours we put into this solution will significantly improve your Minecraft 1.6.1 update experience.

    Provided the developers of the plugins you are using are keeping up with the development of Bukkit, all your plugins should work fine. Unless we specifically have to break plugins or the plugins you are using are employing inappropriate practice's, most plugins should work without needing an update whenever we put out a new release.

    What is a Developer Build?
    A Developer build is provided AS IS and COMPLETELY UNSUPPORTED. You should only be running these builds if you are completely aware of how to properly make use of them. Support requests of ANY KIND will be removed without warning. If you have to ask where or how to get the development build, you should NOT be running it and posts of that nature will be deleted.

    They didn't. You can ask them yourself - all they did was hack in a protocol patch that allowed 1.6.2 clients to connect to a 1.6.1 server, subsequently breaking sprinting.

    Very happy to have the ocelot problem fixed. Any idea if we'll ever be able to teleport horses between worlds, or is that more of a vanilla limitation?

    Currently, vanilla MC has no support for teleporting horses. I dunno if bukkit intends to implement this themselves, though I kind of doubt it. I'm hoping for code pertaining to leads, so you can get the entity/entities that are connected to you via leads, and then do stuff with them (teleport, kill, release, etc).

    Teleporting horses does already work fine within the same world, just not between them. Unless you're just referring to the nether portal (which of course, doesn't work in vanilla).

    Seems like a lot of effort to try to kill and recreate the horse in the new world (given all their attributes, chest contents, etc), but I might have to look into that. It's too valuable a feature not to have.

    I'm not sure what you mean that they work fine... my horses don't teleport, and neither do other horses that members of my server own. You sure you don't have a plugin for it?

    Oh sorry, that must then just be a side-effect of the craftbukkit patching I do to get minecarts to teleport (with their passengers). It even continues galloping out of the teleport (unlike players, who have to hit 'W' again). Or are you just using the "/tp" command, rather than the ".teleport()" API call?

    Oh, sure I can do .teleport() in code. Just no easy way to let player's teleport their horses without giving them teleport powers, which I don't really want. Sadly, when you are on a mount, you don't teleport, so the PlayerTeleportEvent won't be thrown. So the only way to do it via PlayerTeleportEvent would be to have code for leads.

    been playing with the dev build for a couple hours now and everything i need to work works great, only thing that doesnt is the /playsound command which would be amazing to get soon.
    Dont suppose anyone knows an estimated time for when this will be done? I've got big plans for it haha
     
  17. I would like to add my thanks for your work. Not only did you produce a very quick dev build but you also have produced a rather stable dev build. So far after a several days of play I have not even found the most minor of glitches. Oh and all the plug ins so far have worked well. Looks like your fix to allow the old plugins worked well. Thank you again for the great work guys. My hat goes off to you.

    If you plan on using custom sounds or resource packs, it wont work. Mojang disabled server side resource packs until who knows when.

    As someone who doesn't use the dev builds, just how stable is the 1.6.b build? From what I've seen thus far, the only thing not working is the /playsound command so I'd be half tempted to boot my server up early.

    Works fine with all plugins , if you know how to use them.

    Only thing is i get is a Severe End of stream error for my players somethimes. Think its because its a dev build.

    Seems to run fine. Found a bug where horses' leashes disappear, making it impossible to move the horse without killing it or editing its NBT data. Problem occurs if the leash is attached to a fence post that's next to a block.

    You should check for updates to all your plugins before upgrading.

    It's running fine, without any crashes. Plugins are working, CPU and RAM usage are ok.

    thats fine as i just upload the custom resource pack to sendspace or sites like that so that people who want to play the specific adventures im making can download and use them without using server side resources.
