    Everyone using PermissionsEx, Essentials, or anything else besides the regular permissions plugin or PermissionsBukkit should add or change this in their config under the Global section:
    LegacyPermissions: true
    As of 2.4.0 the bPermissions plugin is supported directly.​
    As of 2.3.7 the PermissionsBukkit plugin is supported directly.​
    This support is not done through the new built in Permissions that bukkit provides, because there is no way to get a players group using the built in methods. However, by supporting this directly, you can now use the new permissions system while still keeping Residence, and not having to use old permissions at all anymore.​

    About:
    Residence is different from most protection plugins in that it aims for the users to be able to protect their own homes without having to bother the admin to do it. Residence has support for a variety of different protection types including preventing movement through areas, all of which can be configured by the land owner, and limited by the admin.​
    Features:
    Features (open)

    • Allows players to define protected areas for themselves.
    • Individual permissions for each protected area. Land owner can give / deny permissions globally or to other specific players.
    • Different permissions per land include: move, build, use, pvp, fire, teleport, monsters spawn, damage prevention
    • Support for group permissions on protections.
    • Multi-World support.
    • Teleport system to allow users to teleport to residences.
    • Collision detection system to prevent residences from overlapping.
    • Limits to protected size can be set up by the admin.
    • Limits to number of protected areas per player can be set.

    • Added a LeaseAutoRenew config option, that will cause leases to automatically renew so long as the player has the money to do so. Note that, if economy is disabled this doesn't work, as there would be no point to leases. Needs Testing! :)
    • Global FlagPermission config section, that allows you to give permission to use a flag to all groups, useful for the build / move / use flag that you almost definitely want everyone to have access to. Flags under each individual group will overrule these.
    • You can now set a limits on how deep or how high protections can go into the group, using each groups MinHeight and MaxHeight settings.
    • /res select sky, and /res select bedrock commands, these auto adjust to the above mentioned MinHeight and MaxHeight settings, so it won't select into a area you can't protect.

    Awesome mod! Unfortunally i'm running 1.2.7 with default permissions settings in the config file and normal players with no special permissions can do "/res set build true" in an area that doesn't belong to them and they can build. They can't destroy though.

    Tried this after I verified this is true:
    EDIT: I also agree with some people saying I wish there were a way to delete enter/leave messages from an area completely ;)

    But, still as Admin I cannot create subzones. Even if I OP myself, dont have access to subzones.

    I get the "unable to get Iconomy accounts" error when trying to buy from the market.

    everyone can set flags on residents they dont belong to.
    the res belongs to me, a completely new user gets on the server and changes his build flag to true on my res. i dont know what to do about this. already checked config files and permissions. users by default have absolutely no permissions.

    You probbably need to change the flags so he has build permission. This is going to be done automatically when i get v2.0 out, but until then you have to manually do it.

    I found the problem, just uploaded a fix in v1.2.8 :)
    And you should be able to remove the message with /res message [residence] remove [enter/leave]

    Ok, thanks for testing. Il see if theres something that has changed in the new version that causes this. In the mean time, I have iConomy v4.6.1 running on my test server and it seems to do fine, if you can revert, try that.

    Hmm, there should be a message... maybe your having the same IConomy problems everyone else seems to be having with newer versions of IConomy. My test server is running iConomy v4.6.1 and it seems to work fine....

    I swear I've updated to use the new playerQuitEvent.... apparently bukkit doesn't think so....

    I found the problem, try v1.2.8 :)

    Very nice! Like many other people I discovered this once WorldGuard stopped working. This is very simple and intuitive and will really simplify things. I'll keep on using WorldGuard for things like firespread, tnt/creeper detonation and protecting large Public areas e.g. malls, towns etc however giving my users the freedom to protect their individual residences without my input is a huge weight off my shoulders.

    One suggestion, maybe make the default selection tool something other than the wooden axe? This will conflict with WorldEdit's default wand and I bet most people will just find themselves taking the extra step to change the default tool before anything else (I know that was my first step).

    Anyway great plugin thank you so much for your hard work and contribution to the community! Us paranoid admins with OCD who want to grant protection to every single block that needs it can now just relax and let the players buy it for themselves.

    #1: I'm setting up some tiered groups for my server. Do permission inherit like with the permissions plugin? I don't like having to specify every flag all over again and would prefer to just specify what I need to change.

    #2: I want to know what defaults are applied to a group if a section of the permissions is left out:

    Ok I thought it might have been ok to re-activate this on my server, but I'm still getting corrupted saves if Residence stays on. This makes it pretty impossible to run the plugin. No matter what, it only took overnight for this to start happening, it's been doing this since you implemented the periodic saves, and without fail it WILL corrupt and break all my players residences. The only way I've been able to fix this is to reset everything (That I can tell)

    When i want to create a subzone, it sais i wouldn't have access to subzoning,
    im using phoenix permissions, have '*' permission, 'enablePermissions: true' is configured
    and im op. parentzone exists subzone doesnt overlap to any other zone and is inside the parentzone

    and

    defaultLeaveMessage: Left Residence!
    and put a # infront of it. That will disable the message for every new one you make.
    You can delete the lines too in the res.yml file if u have flat file
    (Would recommend a copy first)

    As for the ownership transfer bug; player isn't added to the playerlist group automaticly who can build & stuff
    so that might be something to look at. you can edit the file yourself every time to add the owner but its
    not how it's suppose to work i reckon.

    Further; i'm unsure if you can fix this, but when you are not authorized in a residence and there is a wooden pressure plate which does an action while the flag use is false you can still throw an item onto it so it will open anyway. Not really that important tbh but well..

    im currently running the latest version of craftbukkit and v1.2.8 of residence, im having a problem with subzoning, im the owner of a server, but whenever i try subzone it says "You don't have access to subzoning"

    commands i used:
    1.(selected to points) then did /res select vert
    2./res create test
    3.(then selected another two points)
    4./res select vert
    5./res subzone test tests

    No it doesn't delete the enter message it alway says:
    zone.subzone: null
