So, I Saw many servers that have up to 4000 Players online. My question is, how its possible? how a server can handle more than 1000 players?.
I Have a big minecraft server that handle 300 players on with a E3-1270V2 Machine. I wanna know, whats machine is able to handle 1000 players without lag?

Post the specs that you think. (CPU, RAM, SSD OR HD ETC...), And if is possible, the hosting company that offer it.

    Multiple servers.

  3. its called cloud computing. the bukkit server is spread across multiple computers that all handle part of the load.
thats the only way you could support that many players. for that 4000 players to play comfortably on one server, you'd basically need a supercomputer and 1000 mbps internet

I don't see any documentation on distributed computing for the craftbukkit server. Is there documentation to this effect?

Ok, but i have tps 20 with 300 players on. I Wanna have a server with a minimum of 600 slots without using bungecoord or something like that, its possible? ( And if its possible, what machine(cpu+ram) would handle 600+ players?)

Does anyone know how to boost the speed of my server? I have a Dell with 3gb Ram, and an Intel core 2 Duo but people still say they lag and I barely have even 10 players. I really dont want to pay for a hosting service either. Is there anyone out there I can contact with tips on hosting my server?

No way one computer can handle that. Multiple computers each with
32 GB RAM, 8 core Intel Xeons, 1000 Mbits/s Internet.

They are connected with bungeecord(look it up on google)

Get a hosting provider. If you're new to server hosting you should start off with a data center

    Hosting a 600 player server
    Requires:
Intel 8 core Xeon, 64 GB ram(note most motherboards only support 32), 1Gbit/second internet. MINIMUM. This would lag about 30% for most players

  14. Intel 8 core xeon (or an intel octa-core xeon) is a CPU. its like 2, 4 core i7's in one.
this it the processor you'd be likely to find inside one of googles servers (you'd actually be more likely to find 2 on the one motherboard)

like on something a bit like this, which can take 2 8 core Xeon processors and up to a mind boggling 768 GB or RAM (it does cost $164,057 though (of which $7812.25 is sales tax). but at least shipping is included)
