Torch in hand?

Suggested name: caveTorch

What I want: The ability to walk around with a torch that acts as if its placed, to see in the dark.

Ideas for commands:
/Ctorch on
/Ctorch off

Ideas for permissions: n/a

When I'd like it by: whenever is convenient for the devs.

 

i think there is a plugin like this already

I don't know if it's even possible. Track player moves and send fake torch place packets?

 

There is a plugin that exists that does this so it is possible. However, that plugin was last updated in 1.0 so it most likely isn't compatible with the new lighting engine. But I haven't tested it....

 

well, can you post link to the plugin? and you can test it as well and report results

Lighting is controlled by the client. The best you can do is spawn glowstone underneath you, but it'll lag your gam like CRAZY. (At least from what I've heard)

 

From what Williscool98 said, I remember some plugin that made glowstone underneath you from Beta 1.5 (Minecraft) I don't remember the name though, sorry, what plugin makers can do is make fake lighting some how or just use the glowstone or a torch below you as you move. But this might make a lot of lag....

What error does it output? Generally plugins don't break from update to update.
