So my CB server just went public but its HomeHosted so I have to be on and I have to start up the server for players to join but I want to make the server 24/7 but still be homehosted so I don't have to pay for the host. In short I want to keep my server up 24/7 without using a host just using my internet. I have a mac and if anyone can help please help!

Then change your power-saving mode. You can't host a home hosted server without using your resources such as electricity and internet lol. Let me put it this way, I don't want to be mean or anything, but if you have no clue about it, leave it.. There's a LOT of other, noob servers out there, why bring another one ? If you're looking to play with friend only, then I don't think there's a really big need for 24/7.
Its a public server. Ill probably just use freeminecrafthost.com i searched it again on google and something called a VPS? Can someone help me with that?
I really wish you luck lol. Remember, nothing is free out there. I still do not understand why you're trying to make a server, public server, which will be laggy anyway, and won't differ from trillion others already up. VPS - Virtual Private Server.
Experienced Minecraft server hosters will run their servers 24/7. I agree like 80% with Adriani6. The other 20% are against him: 'You never know how good his server is, until you join.'
One more thing, It's a LOCALHost. So servers need to be connected to the internet (I recommend LAN). Ofcourse your internet will drain away. It's never free: Internet Bills, Electricity Bills. Every server is connected to the internet or to other computers.
Just leave your computer running all the time. That's what I do (although I use Win7 Pro). I figure it costs me $7/month in electricity costs. It's possible to have CB started automatically when the computer is booted-up, but I just start mine manually. Look into how to run CB as a "service" on a Mac if you want it automatic. (I'm pretty disappointed by the snide remarks and useless replies in this thread.)

Actually, it's less than half that, since my PC would be on and consuming electricity even if I didn't run the server.

If you want to self host it Use YAMS or MC server soft. It's a good desktop host that will manage everything for you. Yams.in Mcserversoft.org
