its never took bukkit this long for a dev build after the full release and what i find pathetic is this is a halloween update and if its not released today so we as server owners and mod devs can get updated and open by hopefully halloween...this will go down as the biggest fail for minecraft/bukkit a halloween update not available til after halloween lool and even if bukkit come out with the update before halloween server owners are screwed and mod devs this is a big enough update where plug ins need to be updated and right now there are hosting companies out there that dont allow custom jar files they will only use recommended builds and that will not be out til after halloween..now (a pretty scary update) is looking like a november surprise..and dont tell mr to mod my own we all need bukkit we know that but a update for a holiday shoud be done before that holiday

You may find that Mojang and Bukkit are not one and the same entity.

See, Mojang is the company that released an update to one of their games.

The Bukkit devs on the other hand are now working their little butts off to provide us, and you, with some free piece of awesome software. What makes you feel entitled to whine about any release date of whatsoever related to Bukkit?

see here again i can do a time line why does minecraft come out with a pre-release a week ahead of time so that mods devs have time to update before the real release so that means bukkit should have been updating from the pre-release 10 days ago then did a dev build on the bug fix the the rb build from the full release

Well that's like totally just your opinion. But that's not how it works. With each release from Mojang, the Bukkit guys have to kind of start over, there's only so much they can prepare in advance, even with a pre-release.

    Try to read this here,

This is why the pre-releases are actually not worth very much unless its the FINAL one. Mojang also updated the the "final" pre-release the day before they released the update.

1.4 Pre-release October 19, 2012 the dev build should have been started here i was told before in another thread bukkit will not work with snapshots we will work with the pre-releases if that was true they should have had a dev build before the 1.4.1 and if they waited because they new another bug fix was coming then they had inside knowledge...if they have started with the 1.4 pre-release the dev build would be done

ill tell you I love bukkit i think bukkit is the way to go for plug ins and keeping the vanilla launcher i love the mod community but i do believe bukkit has dropped the ball on this one and if you did just say it the truth i can deal with the run around makes people mad

The October 19th one isn't worth anything if they made a more updated pre-release with a different obfuscation as the version that gets used as the update...

again like i said the pre release on the 19th was put out for developers if bukkit knew there was another pre release coming out they had inside knowledge and should tell us Most of us see the pre release and think bukkit is working on it..its a lil late for that now we have to wait..for a halloween update a couple days before halloween

You mean Bukkit DEV, Amaranth is doing majority of the work for this update, and the reasons EvilSeph will not discuss.

Wow. Your ignorance is astounding. They start over every release, and the last pre-release was the day before 1.4 came out. Nobody on the bukkit team is paid. They are all volunteers. How would you like it if you were the one working your butt off to push a new product and people were complaining about you?
They don't have to update CraftBukkit. They just do so out of the kindness of their hearts. So say thanks and be patient like the rest of us.

amaranth thank you..we all know that a dev build might break your server we all know use it your on your own but id rather have a dev build i can test and maybe implement then sit and wait and do nothing thats what i thought when i saw thw 19 pre release then the 24th i said oh shit but i thought bukkit would release a dev build based on the 19th pre release and then another on the 24 update

But yeah, NO ONE IS PAID. Much less, I'd love to see @Toxic_Waste go make something just like Bukkit, different code, and everything. Update it before Amaranth does.

Everywhere people are denying that Bukkit has anything to do with Mojang, still Mojang has HIRED the bukkit team.
If i hire someone he IS part of my team, if i release an update of my game, but i am just dumping the entire multiplayer part of it, and i totally aggree on that this is a Halloween update, and this should for once go smooth then you are blundering completely, bukkit should have inside information, bukkit should know everything before it even changes, bukkit should be working on 1.4.3 now together with Mojang, or maybe even on 1.5 already, making sure that the updates go as smooth as possible instead of running behind on the facts, a year ago you guys were right, Bukkit devs were a different entity, and had nothing to do with Mojang, that has changed lately and now they do.

And for anyone who thinks im sucking stuff out of my thumb here is the very reliable source http://forums.bukkit.org/threads/bukkit-the-next-chapter.62489/

Whee, crafting a map crashes the game for a non-trivial reason. This is going to take some thought...

    There is 2 teams.
    1. The 4 that were hired to be part of Mojang for the Mod API - Tahg, EvilSeph, Dinnerbone, and Grum.
    2. Those now working on it, Felidmaster, Wolvereness, Amaranth, and Lukegb.

    1) There were multiple pre-releases. Each pre-release causes the team to redo much of the update work. If you think its so easy, please, feel free to do it yourself.
    2) The team works hard and doesn't need these kinds of posts to make them wonder why they even bother.
    3) While you say you're grateful, you sound incredibly ungrateful. No one on the Bukkit team gets paid. Everyone does this for free, so to say "this will go down as the biggest fail for minecraft/bukkit" makes me want to go spend my time with my wife and walk away from helping anyone here. Why I spend any of my time trying to help anyone is beyond me.

Did you not read EvilSephs post? They start over over every time a new release is pushed. They started over Wednesday.
    Edit: what TnT said.

    No, they shouldn't have.

Things change between the pre-releases and the actual release. They're not going to spend their time redoing all of that work.

Let me re-iterate what has been said numerous times. They are unpaid volunteers who do this completely for free and from the goodness of their hearts.

As I've said to the many ungrateful people who have PM'ed me:
"If you think you can do a better and faster job, go make your own modding platform. Have fun updating it."

I see you unlocked the thread to bitch at me dont give me that if you can do it do it im not twisting no ones arm to develop bukkit you all offer it...and when i said it will go down as the biggest fail is because unlike all the other updates this one is made for a certain time of year Halloween and by my calendar its right around the corner..it would be nice to have a halloween update before halloween ...its like would you decorate for halloween on the day of or do you decorate before halloween..just saying and again if amaranth is the only dev working on it thx amaranth

Tried three times to find a good way to write this that you would understand, so here goes:

All of the work for updating has to be done once for every update. The latest pre-release, though similar in features to the official release, has completely different code due to obfuscation. Even without the obfuscation, what is the point of them updating Bukkit to something that will change again within a week? Minecraft pre-releases, while helpful to Mojang for finding bugs, don't really help the modders and Bukkit developers much. The Bukkit team is working it. Be patient.
