    So, the production of my PVP server is coming to a close, and I'm pretty satisfied with it, but I'm wondering whether or not I should make a world border.

    It's a PVP factions server, and from my experience, it's much easier to find bases to raid while there is a world border in place. Less room to build = more bases to raid.

    But I could use some outside opinions;

    Do you think it's better to have a World Border or not in a Factions PVP server?

    World borders are great for encouraging conflict. Resources will be more limited, bases will be easier to find as you've said, and people will have to stay more flexible and mobile in the event that they're discovered. An unbordered PVP world usually ends up with some people traveling far from the spawn and living in the security that comes with obscurity, killing the tension of potentially being discovered (as the only way you'll be found 10000 blocks from spawn is through pure random chance).

    Bordering your world also has an advantage for you as an admin: the world won't grow to an unmanageable size just because a few troublemakers decide to walk directly away from the spawn in a straight line and never stop walking. Having a smaller world reduces lag and the amount of hard drive space the world will take up.

    If you don't have a border someone will walk 10000 blocks to make their base and, along with the other explorers going the other directions, you will quickly get a big map where the bases are nowhere to be found. It will also most likely corrupt.

    Okay, so it sounds like a border would be the best plan;

    I expect to have 50 players on at a time (I have experience with advertising servers/managing moderators), so how large should the world be?

    In all honestly it depends on your server software, mostly your HDD. Post your specs please.
