No because i want my friends to be able to join. I think it is something having to do with the firewall but i dont know what to do

Disable the firewall in order to "prove" the problem lies with the firewall.

Do you have a router? You may need to forward the port to your server.

Do you have a static IP, if not you need to get an account from no-ip.com

Does your ISP block the port, if so your out of luck

Out of curiosity, what couldn't you find in an existing server?

Yes i do have a router yes i did forward 25565 It says i have a static ip but it still changes so i signed up anyway I dont know if its blocking the port ill check later but i dont think so because it works with a vanilla minecraft server from minecraft.net and finally what do you mean about "What couldn't you find in an existing server?"

The basic question every server admin, should be asked: Is my server bringing anythinfg to the table that's not already available?

Anyway try connecting with 127.0.0.1 on the same computer the server is on...
If you can do that, either your ISP is blocking the port or your router settings are wrong; I run a webserver (port 80) and an SFTP server (port hidden). I go into my router, set a DHCP reservation for my server, Set up port forwaring for port 80 (public and private) with my private IP (192.168.0.x).

Yes i could connect with 127.0.0.1 and how could my port be wrong? What do i need to change?

Well, port forwarding should be well documented for your router. Temporally you can set your server as the DMZ host of your router.

Remember that there are plenty of existing server out there, and if you can not get yours working-- running a server may not be for you. You are welcome to check out mine at tuxcraft.cu.cc It is an economy server, towns, no PvE, a Pvp arenas.
