It seemed for a long time everyone used logblock, then everyone switched to hawkeye. is there even any difference between the two? They seem exactly the same to me.

I think it's pretty much based on functionality, I personally prefer HawkEye because I can do rollbacks based on WorldEdit regions, and also looking at the logs via a web interface.
Although HawkEye hasn't been updated since 1.1, LogBlock is already ready for 1.3.1

  3. The only reason I would recommend LogBlock over Hawkeye is that LB has been in development longer. Meaning the plugin has a good track record of being supported by the author.

Neither, go with CoreProtect. It's fast, updated frequently, and logs WorldEdit ;)

I like CoreProtect too, but I wish it had a web interface. It's great without it though.

I wouldn't recommend HawkEye. It's not updated enough.

You need to have backups in a specific zip format to use WorldEdit snapshots.

I would use HawkEye since it's been the most reliable for me and HawkEye Reloaded is constantly updated to the latest recommended build.

I'm using HawkEye Reloaded. Works great. I love the web interface.

Although this post is like half a year old, I'll just leave my opinion here.

In my opinion, LogBlock is far superior to Hawkeye. It's faster, up-to-date, and simple to use.

Also, LogBlock logs WorldEdit now as well.

md_5 Ammar Askar Cannot wait for LogBlock 2!

Still using LogBlock, don't see a reason to suddenly switch to HawkEye.

Prism is a tad slower but it's depth and user-support was worth the switch from LogBlock, but it's really your choice.

nope it isn't "far superior" at all, it's not faster either it all depends on your mysql performance, both are upto date, hawkeye is just as simple to use. I know it's your opinion but I don't want players mislead.
