With the Minecraft 1.3 release date fast approaching, a lot of people are wondering when we will be releasing a CraftBukkit Recommended Build for Minecraft 1.3. We hope this short announcement will answer those questions.

Due to the size of the impending 1.3 update, we are unable to guarantee that we'll have a compatible CraftBukkit Recommended Build out in time for the release of Minecraft 1.3. Although we started working on the update immediately after the Minecraft 1.3 preview was made available to the public, a lot of things were added, removed and changed in Minecraft from 1.2.5 and, as such, this update requires more work than usual to get things up and running. That being said, we'll continue to do our best to get an update out within a reasonable amount of time and will likely follow our usual policy of promoting the first Recommended Build the moment we get something that compiles and runs without any testing done whatsoever.

As we have done a significant amount of important work on CraftBukkit 1.2.5 builds since our last RB, we'll be promoting a new Recommended Build shortly. This is done so that people have a reliable, stable build to use until we can get a 1.3 compatible build out and so that everyone who relies on Recommended Builds are able to take advantage of all the fixes, improvements and so on we've done since the last 1.2.5 RB.

Thank you for your patience, understanding and continued support; we greatly appreciate it!

Shrug, I was at 17. I took a job to install a LAN, connect it to the internet and setup a bsd machine that didn't really support all the hardware correctly as the gateway, setup a basic database system, build an inventory control system for the gold and brass plating lines, and train the office staff to use everything including the custom applications i wrote in visual basic to interface everything. In 1994. ~shrug~.

Edit: Note, I am not the OP. Just another guy who started in IT consultancy very early. I'm now in my 30s, but when I started as an IT consultant I was 17. Noted it just because someone was kinda incredulous that someone was 19 and claiming to do IT consulting.

Edit2: man, thinking back on that old crap brings back a lot of good memories, archie and veronica, ncsa mosaic, gopher, zmodem oh my. Telegard, renegade, tbbs, vbbs, vnet, fido, all that good stuff. I miss the bbs community the most tho... but honestly if someone had told me about the internet today back then, I'd have told them they were insane and that would never happen.

Edit3: oh man... nostalgia *ack* sre, bre, tradewars, land of devestation (man i wish scott baker had kept making new games, that game was a ball.)

If you have a pre-assigned ip: port for a VPS or shared gameserver, you have to forward to dns: port :(

I agree with many of you here.

I run a larger-scale server myself, and I dread updates. I should be looking forward to the cool new additions, but seriously.. when there is a new update, I spend all of my time eagerly stalking dl.bukkit.org for an RB. It's sad to see a server that normally has 100+ players on with 1-10 people online.

Now that Mojang and Bukkit are partnered or whatever, Mojang should work with Bukkit to guarantee immediate release of a Bukkit RB at the same time Minecraft updates. It's seriously annoying. 99.9999% of all servers use Bukkit, and if it weren't for them SMP wouldn't be what it is today.
