Hi, My friend's dynamic ip changed (what a surprise /sarcasm), and he refuses a static ip, or manually letting his community know the new ip, and I warned him this would happen, but he didn't listen. My question is is there some free services or programs he could use to redirect the old server ip to the new ip.
Nope! You can't access that dynamic ip after it changed one time. The ip belongs to a ip-pool of your friends ISP. Perhaps exact that ip already was allocated to another customer.
The only real option is to use one of the dynamic dns services, then publish the domain name, not the ip
Yeah exactly. It's always better to use and publish a domain name. then you can just edit the A-Record, switch to the new IP and after the TTL interval all clients will receive the updated dns entries.
