Hey I been wanting to move away from hosting my server from my house. I want to have a Windows VPS 2 cores 2gb of ram for about $30 and so far I have found softsyshosting.com I want to know if anyone have used this host as I did some reasearch and found they have been around since 2007 so I think I can trust them but would also like to know what you use and what to stay away from. I used RedstoneHost before and the worst service I had so anything but that.

Why windows? It's more expensive and less efficient with system resources.

I'm assuming he/she hasn't used Linux before... If that's is not true, I completely agree.
I think you would be better of with a Minecraft specific host rather than a VPS - that is if you haven't used Linux. The cost of a Windows server is generally 25%-50% higher per month...

Linux isn't as hard to use as you think it is. Even from the command line!

I love Linux and prefer it over anything, but some like Windows Servers and will do anything to stick with it... One of my friends is just like that.

Look, the only thing you might think seems hard about linux is the terminal, and really you only need it for installing java, then you can just upload a shell script and the craftbukkit snapshot with FileZilla and you are good to go (granted that you have some automatum to restart teh server every 24 hours or so)
And windows will EAT UP your CPU and RAM

I have been with them for over a year now and have had not one any problem with them. I have not had any unexpected down time, they give me extensions on bills if I ask and they reply within hours on any ticket I submit. I would call that pretty reliable.

I used to have a windows VPS with them with downtime all the time. :p

Also, their Linux ISOs were not up to date.

Sushi So can you recommend any good vps host?

I would expect a few apt-upgrade/apt-update's would fix that, no?

The best VPS hosts aren't cheap. My personal favorite is Linode (they use Xen instead of OpenVZ doe).

I have been starting to sell VDS(Like VPS but with not shared resources), they comes with 4GB RAM, 30GB SSD, 100GB HDD RAID10 and I personally install a copy of multicraft for minecraft administration. All for 40 dollars at month.
