I was running my server off of a home hosted server but I wasn't on it mainly because I was working on a plugin and I turned my head to see if there was any activity on it and I noticed a message that said "[Metrics] metrics.griefcraft.com". When I saw this I took this picture:

I then proceeded to turn of the minecraft server and unplug the internet cable from the actual server as a precaution. I have never seen anything like this or heard of anything like this and I have no plugins that are called metrics and to my knowledge none of them have anything to do with metrics. Here is the list of plugins that I have just in-case it is actually from one of the plugins:

    1. AdminCMD
    2. BlotheraDeath <- one of mine that isn't released yet
    3. ColorMe
    4. DisguiseCraft
    5. MineBackup
    6. MobileAdmin
    7. myUltraWarps
    8. Ptweaks
    9. Safe Creeper
    10. WorldEdit
If anyone has any idea what this is all about please tell me

EDIT: Also the server clock was 2 hours off so this actually happened at about 11 o'clock my time

The post above smells like troll. There's a clear URL in the console message a non-troll would check.

Yes, I really want to go on a server that somehow advertised on my server and give them the satisfaction of actually getting someone to go one their server. <-- sarcasm if you couldn't tell. For your information I run a server called XernCraft and I am a Plugin developer currently spending most of my coding time creating plugins for the Blothera Kingdom server. I did however put the URL in my browser and it brought me to a website that showed 2 graphs about random servers with a list of plugins on the left side. I still do not see how they got onto my server especially considering that my server IP isn't public. I knew that when I posted this that it was probably nothing but I still want to know what caused it.

Metrics is just a class that plugin developers can place inside their plugin in order to recieve detailed statistics of the usage of their plugin. (look here if you want to implement it in yours)

It is completely safe, and you can opt out of it.
