    If you enjoy fighting monsters for glorious prizes or just the sheer thrill of battle, you and your friends can now join forces against hordes of Minecraft evils in the exciting gladiator-style survival mini-game MobArena!

    Heavily inspired by Deminetix' Fight-plugin, MobArena is a PvE-take on arena-gameplay, with a similar class-based system. Instead of fighting other players, you team up with them to beat oncoming waves of monsters, earning rewards in the process. MobArena can be played alone, or with as many friends as you like!

    Troubleshooting:
    To avoid wasting not only your own time, but mine as well, I expect everyone to do some extensive troubleshooting before posting bug reports. What does this mean?

    Try MobArena on a fresh server.
    MobArena works perfectly fine when I release it. Sure, there are a few bugs, but it works. If it doesn't work for you, something is most likely wrong on your end. Set up a local test-server, and verify that MobArena works before claiming that it doesn't. When you have verified that MobArena does indeed work, you can start adding other plugins and settings until something conflicts.

    Disable other plugins.
    The first thing you need to do is disable all other plugins. If you can't reproduce the bug with other plugins disabled, you know that you have a conflicting plugin. Now perform a binary search on the other plugins, or if you don't know how to do that, just add a couple of plugins back to the plugins-folder, try to reproduce the bug, and if you can't, the conflicting plugin must be in the remaining set of plugins.

    Write down reproduction steps.
    Figure out the exact steps to reproduce/trigger the bug. I need precise steps, and as much information as possible, because there are often many things that could be going on. An example of reproduction steps could be:
    1. Type /ma join
    2. Punch the Archer class sign
    3. Wait for someone else to join
    4. Punch the iron block
    5. Type /ma leave before the other player picks a class

    Check the console window/server.log
    Make sure you check the server.log file for any MobArena errors or exceptions. If you find any, copy the ENTIRE exception (including all the lines that say "at com.garbagemule.MobArena...") and paste it (with the other information) in a CODE-tag here in the thread.

    • Updated for CB 1337.
    • The repair-delay node is now unused! The reason for this is that it is now possible (with the release of 1317) to cancel block damage in explosions, and still retain the animation and sound! This also means that arenas should be fully pistons-compatible (for arenas that don't use soft-restore or force-restore)! I'm hoping to see some screenshots and videos of shifting arenas! :)
    • You can now right-click signs in the lobby! I finally found a super easy solution to the improperly updating inventory issue with right-clicking class signs. The result is that players can now left- or right-click as they please. This should solve all issues related to players not being able to choose classes, due to spawn region and WorldGuard/Factions/whatever conflicts.
    • It is no longer possible to warp out of the lobby.
    • New per-arena setting: final-wave - Allows for setting a final wave, meaning on that wave, the arena will end, regardless of how many players are alive.

    • v0.94.3.11 - Updated Register, built against CB 1240.
    • v0.94.3.8 - Added basic leaderboards.
    • v0.94.3.6 - Fixed MagicSpells support - MobArena no longer supports MagicSpells pre-v1.1!
    • v0.94.3.5 - Fixed a bunch of bugs introduced with CB 1185, as well as a couple of minor MobArena bugs.

    • Updated economy support (now supports iConomy 6).
    • Added the three new mob types, Enderman/Endermen, CaveSpider/CaveSpiders, Silverfish. They can be used just like the other mob types in the waves.
    • Endermen cannot pick up arena blocks (this is why).
    • Endermen cannot place blocks in arena regions.
    • The per-class permission syntax has been fixed and changed slightly. The Wiki has been updated (clicky).

    • Redstone circuits now work properly in arenas.
    • Lightning now properly strikes on spawnpoints on special waves.
    • Fixed an issue where players somehow warping/cheating out of the arena world get kicked from the server when discovered.
    • Added MagicSpells support. Use the magicspells.yml file to ban certain spells from the arena either for the whole session, or only during boss waves.
    • Fixed the Heroes death conflict. MobArena and Heroes should now play nice together. Further Heroes support is planned for upcoming releases.
    • [COLOR=#1000000]MobArena will no longer support the discontinued Permissions 2.x and 3.x permission systems.[/COLOR] Recommended permissions systems include PermissionsBukkit (defacto standard) or PermissionsEX.

    • Added two new boss abilities: 'shuffle-positions' and 'flood'. Try them out!
    • Players disconnecting/crashing during an arena session no longer get corrupted data files due to economy rewards.
    • Weapon durability is now correctly set to "unlimited".
    • Item sub-types (cocoa beans, bonemeal, colored wool, etc.) now work again.
    • Players can no longer join the arena without first picking a class.
    • MobArena now works with spawn-monsters=false again.
    Version 0.94 (open)

    • Completely revamped the waves system! Undeniably the biggest feature in MobArena since multiple arenas in v0.92, the new customizable waves are guaranteed to bring much more awesomeness to your MobArenas. The waves system brings two new wave types, swarm waves and boss waves. The latter is a very elaborate feature, and the whole waves system has been given its own page on the Wiki. Note: MobArena will ignore all old wave settings, but use sane defaults.
    • Revamped the logging system. Instead of logging: true, you can now use logging: yml/xml. The logging system will now keep track of the last session only, but also maintain a collection of 'totals' for each arena. The idea behind these easy-to-parse files is making the stats available on server web pages.
    • Added SuperPerms/PermissionsBukkit support. Note that specifying mobarena.arenas.* and mobarena.classes.* probably won't work, but these nodes are given to everyone by default.
    • Added Spout support. Currently, the only Spouty thing MobArena does is print (some) announcements as notifications/achievements. This should limit the amount of "chat spam" that MobArena produces. Other Spout-features are planned, but don't expect something crazy. Note that MobArena does NOT require Spout!
    • Monsters will no longer target pet wolves. This is a major nerf to pet classes, but they were very overpowered as it was.
    • Fixed item amounts greater than 64 sometimes bugging out. You should now be able to put arrow:1024 for your Archer classes :)
    • Fixed players losing their stored items and/or earned rewards upon disconnecting from the arena.
    • Fixed blocks not restoring when burned by fire.
    • Fixed an issue with entry fees. They should no longer cause any problems.
    • Fixed slimes. That's right! Slimes that spawn as a result of bigger slimes splitting upon death are now considered arena monsters. This also means that Slimes no longer drop slime balls; as intended.
    • Revamped the repairing algorithm. It is now MUCH more sophisticated, and is capable of repairing not only signs and containers, but also torches, doors and beds. Redstone -should- repair properly as well, but it is still slightly buggy.
    • Added support for restorable containers. Registered chests, dispensers, and furnaces will have their contents stored upon arena start, and restored at arena end. This is useful for providing the arena players with chests with e.g. upgrades or food.
    • Added new commands (for the feature above) - /ma addcontainer <name>, /ma delcontainer <name>, /ma containers. These commands work much like the the spawnpoint commands. To add a container, simply look at the container and type /ma addcontainer <name>.

    /mcc is an mcmmo command, and permissions isn't MobArena related. Unless MobArena is telling you something in game or in the server console, it's not touching it at all. If MobArena is telling you something when you try to use other commands, I'd like to see exactly what's it's telling you. Otherwise I'm assuming MobArena has no part in your troubles.
    Unfortunately there's no way to specify exactly how many of each monster type will spawn each wave. The numbers you see in the config file are probabilities. If you want less skeletons in the waves, set the skeletons to have a lower probability than the other monsters in that wave.

    Sorry for the delay.
    Yea, Enderdragons are implemented as a "you can do it, but all hell is going to break loose" type of thing. They will spawn, and I think they'll fly outside the bounds of the arena (potentially damaging the world around the arena), and they make their enderportal upon death. I believe there's a way to stop it, but I haven't looked into it yet, mainly because we tend to tell people to avoid using them lol. The whole "MA life" and then regular life is odd, I'll see what's going on with that, but I don't think that's going to be as simple as the enderportal cancellation. Although the other issue that I can think of becomes this: If MobArena thinks the dragon is dead, but it actually isn't, MobArena isn't tracking that dragon, and it becomes much more difficult to determine what enderportal creation event is his, so fixing the 2nd problem should make the first one really simple to implement, in theory.

    I know a lot of people have issues using redstone, and I don't know if they manage to get around it some other way, similar to what you mentioned with falsebook, or not, but I don't recall any fixes for that.

    I had made a copy of MobArena that allowed Golem player spawns, and Ocelots as pets by giving the classes raw_fish, and showed it to garbagemule, but it never made it into the official builds. So I'm not sure what his stance on that is. I'll see if I can't try to bug him some more about it. For now, if you want the wave spawned Golems to do damage to the others, enable "monster-infight:" so that monsters can damage each other. Although this means creeper explosions will kill everything, not just players, skeletons can shoot other monsters and deal damage, etc. It's not the perfect solution, but it's something to start with.

    there's an option: "keep-exp: true"
    set that to false, and they won't keep the exp they've gained in the match.
    similarly, you can make it so monsters don't drop exp by setting: "monster-exp: false"

    Hello,
    I noticed you did some commits and it says it works for 1.2.5-R1.3, is there a build to test or is it still too early for such a thing? I tried to build my own, but I just don't understand enough yet I guess. I can build other plugins but this one I just don't get. Thanks =)

    check the IRC Chat Channel topic, a copy of it is there, but doesn't include all of the git commit stuff. I figured out how to make pull requests after I updated the IRC topic, and added the extra stuff in. I also plan on continuing to update that pull request I made with other stuff if I can figure out how to fix it.

    Ok, first, I'd like to say, I love MobArena, one of my all-time favorite plugins. I have been using it on my server since the week after first release, and have never encountered a problem until now. It's a small problem, not sure if its even a bug, but I've checked the FAQ here: https://github.com/garbagemule/MobArena/wiki/FAQ and the Setting Up The Config Here: https://github.com/garbagemule/MobArena/wiki/Setting-up-the-config-file and in the FAQ it did not help with my problem, and the Setting up the config page gave a very brief description of what to actually do. My problem involves the Entry-Fee, I have never needed to use this feature until now, as my server is becoming more economy based, however, now that I need to use it, it seems to not want to work. Would you guys have any solutions to making it work properly? I've entered the currency amounts with and without the currency symbol and still no luck. Thanks, and keep up the good work :)

    Ive taken off Mob Arena for now because the fix-up build I tired a few days ago kept giving me weird internal server errors when trying to type /ma leave

    unfortunately I was very short on time so I didnt get any error logs but Ill try with whatever version is up on the IRC later and see how it goes

    There are 2 things you need for the economy stuff to work properly, 1 is the $ symbol on the amount of currency, so $100, or $5
    The other thing is Vault. It's the go-between for all devs and economy plugins. If you're missing that, MobArena won't do anything with currency amounts.

    :eek: oh no! I'm sad to hear that even though I made the 1.2.5-R1.3 fix there are still errors for you. When you get time, could you provide me a stack trace and the exact situation in a PM please?

    Firstly, i just signed in on this forum to say how amazing this plug-in is. This is really a nice job you did.
    Secondly, I don't know if somebody's already asked it, but is there a way to obtain some items during the arena ? (like an evolving fight)
    I have a few more ideas and questions, but i don't want to get boring so fast :D

    If you're using one of the dev builds, you can add some upgrade or supply waves to your config. Upgrade waves allow you to give certain classes some items, where supply waves spawn monsters of your choice to drop items of your choice. Similar to how rewards work, it only gives one of the list. Upgrade waves have a way around that however.

    I was wondering if it is possible to set my "arena area" to reset after each game. If I have piston traps etc that are 1 time use I would like to have them reset during the next round.

    ok3y11 go read the top post on this page, or even the past couple pages, as your problem has been stated already by several people.

    it was a Bukkit bug that has since been fixed in 1.2.5-R2.0 by the looks of it (see this bug report for more details). If it's not fixed, go make a new Bukkit bug report with the error, as there is no sign of anything other than Minecraft code breaking in that stacktrace.
    as for the resetting of the arena, I don't know.

    I have a problem.

    Basically, whenever I try to make a new custom class and then restart the server to use it, the entire config file gets reset. Why is this happening? Can anoytone help?

    For some reason Mob Arena won't work for me anymore. I just get an error message when I try to use any of its commands. It told me to check the server log and to post here so here I am. I need a fix quick my players want to get back into the arena.

    When my server crashes during a mob arena battle all chests and are saved as containers are not refilled once server gets back online, a fix to this could be storing the info of what is in each chest in a file so a crash doesn't effect chest contents.

    this is typical of an error in the config. use http://pastebin.com and link your config here before it gets wiped, so I can see if I can spot any errors.

    could you elaborate on exactly what you did to get these to pop up? and link your config as well please?

    I'm getting an error too. Out of nowhere. So i re-downloaded it and the config file is the default one and i'm still getting an error.
