    hello there.

i am new to bukkit (haii =D) i just came from hmod and i found the controller block plugin here but it works differently and not the way i would like it to work, also my existing controller blocks from hmod do not work and i have over 200 controller blocks to reconfigure to this new one

i am sugesting a controller block that works the same way as the hmod version:

    place iron block
create torch and redstone rune around the block
    tap the block
use a stick for a wand and set changing blocks (slot 8 = active slot 9 = inactive)
    tap block again when done

    the new controller block goes:
    place iron block
place redstone wire or torch on top
tap iron block with the block you want as changing block
place changing blocks (only the same block)
    tap iron block

theres no way of having a changing blocks of 2 customizable blocks like the one in hmod

could someone make an identical port for this, its really necessary for my server and for me to actually move to bukkit, i cannot until this is working the way i intend it

    thanks.

edit: just read the guidelines, heres the link to the original controller block from hmod

i saw you posted on the bukkit version of ControllerBlock.

Quite frankly, this version of Controller Block is much better than hmod's. You should give it a shot. I remember setting up the hmod version was quite difficult to get the hang of, the learning curve alone was hard enough. i kept screwing things up. Not to mention i had to have each controller block at least 20 blocks from each other.

When i had to switch to bukkit, i was pissed that i had to move to this version too. After all the time i spent building stuff and getting it perfect in hmod...

However, i quickly learned that Bukkit's version is much more intuitive and versital and not as close-minded as hmods was, for several reasons:
    1. You can have an infinite number of change blocks on a single control block, instead of being limited to 25, which was (if i may be so bold) the stupidest thing about hmod's version. By the time i was done with one project on hmod, i had around 10 underground layers with control blocks spaced precariously around in each layer. Things were confusing, to say the least. The wiring was atrocious. By the time i was finished, i had around 60 control blocks. With Bukkit's version, i eliminated all those, and now have around 15, which are about 3 blocks away from each other. all in one room. which leads me to...
    2. The control blocks can be as close to each other as you want them to be.
    3. You are not limited to which block type you can use. This allows for almost infinite flexibility. For example, you can have a change block turn on and off a redstone torch block somewhere 5000 blocks away; thus making a wireless control unit. On that same note, you can set the config file to dissalow specific items that can be used as change blocks, if you wish.
    4. No messing with torches to make silly patterns was a plus in my opinion. Just make sure theres a wire on the top, hit it with the block you want to be your change block and start laying.
    5. No messing with sticks, or positions of blocks on the inventory tables. You can have the change block type anywhere in your inventory. Can even switch to the same type of block in a different inventory position, if say, you run out in the first position.
    6. He just made it so blocks which change their state dont muck up your control blocks. Like dirt>grass.
There are however, only 2 cons that i can think of:
    1. Cannot have different block types in one control block. In this case, simply connect another control block for that other type to the same circuit.
    2. If you have a world built out of Iron blocks, things may get really messy, really quickly. But even that shouldnt really be an issue, as long as the iron blocks dont have redstone wire on top of them.
I really suggest you give this a try. it took 1/10 of the time to set things up with this mod, than it did with hmod's.--- merged: Mar 6, 2011 3:34 AM ---

i have tried it, as i explained it doesnt use 2 types and if you looked at the cb hmod properties u could have made them unlimited, the hmods version was so much more versatile with the fact it was more customizable with a single block, now its not since u need 2 block for 2 different blocktypes. yeah... ok it was more harder to figure out how to use, but only for those who can be bothered to figure it out, its not hard... sorry, but i cant see the advantage here... you cant call it a port really if its not the same

ugh screw this then, im staying with hmod, why make a port of a plugin if its not even the same or is less convenient! -.-

Here is how to get it to switch between block A and block B:
Make a controller block, set it to Block A, place your blocks and finish. Now leave a 2 block gap, and make another CB and do the same for block B. put a redstone torch on the side of block A, touching a wire that goes to block B.

Put a switch on/attached to the first controllerblock. Now that switch will toggle between A and B - simple!

IMO, two items to one block is the only feature missing from the new CB, and as you can see you can still do it quite easily. Also the initial controllerblock is now a LOT easier to actually set up and you don't need a 9x2 area for it, only a 1x2.

Also if you know your way around redstone you can make animations with this which is always fun, we are making a drummer play drums on our server :)
