People keep spawning on top of the spawn building, and around the outside?

I'm having a problem getting people to spawn correctly!
When they first log in, they always spawn on top of, or around, the spawn building, when the spawn is set inside! I use CommandBook to handle spawning. /spawn puts players on the block I set spawn as. Just when they log in for the first time, it's screwed up.
Help?

Sorry, I can't actually remember exactly which settings I changed. You should be able to get it to work using Essentials though.

 

I have essentials installed alrdy and it's happening..

 

One of the things I did was go to where I want spawn to be and do /setspawn. You see it says "spawn set for default group" or something along those lines? In the settings by default it's set so that first time players spawn at a spawn point called "newbie" or something. Apparently, for me anyway, changing it so that new players spawn at Default, sorted out the problem of spawning outside..
