Mojang have just released an update to Minecraft, bringing us to 1.2.4.

This update is primarily a bug fix release but does include some nice improvements as well:
    Fixed:
    • Made placing half blocks on existing half blocks (to make a full block) easier
    • Limit framerate on menu screens, no longer uses 100% cpu and make my computer melt
    • Fixed fatal crash for converted worlds to anvil, when there’s blocks at max height
    • Fixed an old bug with signs clearing text while you’re editing them in SMP
    • Fixed crash when logging in while there are blocks at maxheight at spawn
    • Fixed TNT ghosts in multiplayer
    • Fixed storage minecarts dropping enchanted items
    • Fixed crashes on invalid server addresses when joining a server
    • Fixed entities being uninteractable if they existed at login (Multiplayer)
    • Fixed dupe exploit with paintings
    • Fixed furnaces and dispensers dropping enchanted items
    • Fixed the “flickering” of chat as it vanishes off the screen
    • Fixed text rendering over items in the container screens
    • Fixed exploit with jungle saplings (turns other saplings into jungle ones)
    • Fixed launcher opening minecraft dir if the path contains a space
    • Fixed an off-by-one lighting bug
    • Fixed block transmuting (turning one block into another via pistons)
    • Fixed placing mushrooms in daylight, where they can’t survive
    • Fixed redstone lamps dropping powered block items when destroyed while on
    • “save-all” (server) now works even when you have toggled “save-off”
    • Fixed turning half-blocks into full-blocks while you’re standing on them
    • Fixed seed displaying in F3 debug when the seed is unknown (multiplayer)
    • Fixed villager texture changing clientside per profession
    • Fixed falling off ledge corners while holding shift
    • Fixed players falling when reconnecting to servers where they were previously flying
    Added:
    • Chat history and much better chat editing
    • A few new decoration blocks
    • “Back” and “Quit” buttons to OutOfMemoryScreen
    • Made cats more realistic (read: probably annoying). I hope it’s enough to cancel out any joy you may receive from the previous feature!
    • Added a “minimal” debug menu for testing with. Shift+F3 to hide the graphs.
This is just a short announcement to let you know that we are aware of this and are working on it as I type this. Please note: Minecraft 1.2.4 has bumped the protocol version, so it is incompatible with 1.2.3.

Thanks for your patience and understanding.

    Hey TnT,

I'm one of those users who is trying to calmly wait for the next RB of what I guess would be Bukkit 1.2.4 Something Something :)

Please convey to the Devs, that they do a great job and that we're all really just anxious to play with the new toys. :)

In the mean time is there any more granular way to see progress being made than dl.bukkit.org/downloads/craftbukkit/list/dev/

I thought I saw a google doc link around here somewhere which seemed to state a high %age of bugs fixed. However I do not know how to interpret the information in it.

Perhaps you could shed some light in this area.

In any case, thanks once again for all of the hard work in put in on Bukkit :)

I interpret it as a list of known changes that they had to address before they could stamp the first 1.2.4 dev build. They hit 100% quickly. Everything after that is ironing out bugs.

The only thing more granular is to hear the devs talk about the bugs. I suppose you can watch GitHub for Bleeding branches - which often come before a CB build (but not always). It might give you an idea of what is being worked on. You probably want to watch this instead: http://dl.bukkit.org/downloads/craftbukkit/ or you risk missing a newly promoted beta/RB. You can get an idea of the bugs being squashed in leaky.bukkit.org.

The spreadsheet mentioned is simply for the Vanilla->CraftBukkit conversion process.

You're going to want to read over your server.log. I bet you accidentally grabbed 1.1-R6 and not a 1.2.4 build.

I got angry too but then i got it anyway and realized, The plugins from 1.2.3 work with 1.2.4! I'm sooo happy! But remember, just in case, before updating, make a copy of your 1.2.3 folder. :D

That made me do a double-take. You're essentially confirming that Bukkit is dead and that we should just accept how awesome Vanilla is going to be......

Bukkit will exist as long as the community keeps it alive. I just have high hopes for what the vanilla API will allow.

Two pages back, I posted the logs from my successful launch of a bukkit 1.2.4 dev build with a number of plugins. The Factions I used was: Factions v1.6.6b

They have a new release called 1.6.7, but I haven't tested it yet:

You need to ask for help in the following section of the forum.
    http://forums.bukkit.org/forums/bukkit-help.6/

This thread is not really the place for Bukkit help.

I hate to say this, but I think the barriers to entry to running a server have been moved so low that we are now infused with all manners of rubbish.

WTB a pay-to-enter, elevated forum where operators can have civil discourse with the server and plugin devs, and selfish or impatient whiners are tossed right out on their fat mouths.

I'm having trouble getting craftbukkit 1.1-R6 to work for my server. When i launch the server every thing is fine and i don't get any errors but when i try join my server it would say logging in forever then it will say login timed out. Craftbukkit 1.2.3-R0.2 works fine but it won't let towny v0.79.1.0 work right. Is there any way to get a craftbukkit that i can run and runs towny?

Then write the codes yourself smart guy.

If you upgraded your Minecraft client to 1.2.4 you won't be able to get into your Craftbukkit 1.2.3 server.

Regarding Towny, I haven't been able to get it to work, even development builds. The Towny guys seem to have given up after 1.2.2 was released unfortunately. I think they were disappoint. It's sad because it was one of my favorite plugins. That's why I ended up having to use Factions instead.

You can't have civil discourse without civil dissent. Wouldn't it be a boring world if everyone agreed with you?
