Looking for a developer and administrator for a well-formed server

As the title say, I am looking for some DEDICATED members for managing minecraft server(s).

We need:
1. java developer for creating Custommods, and modifying old ones.
2. A new aministrator for managing all of the servers.
3. A community manager to watch over the website and potentially add more cool features to it.


The job of the administrator position is to keep all plugins up to date, and to fix miscellaneous issues.

Basically, you will be running a mintcraft server.

Note: you MUST be familier with:
Linux
Phpmyadmin
All internal workings of bukkit / minecraft
How just about every plugin works. Everytyhing We run over 90 plugins on our main server.


if you do not know what grep or cat is, Do not even bother repling,. If you have never played with minecraft on a large scale, Do not boher.

Your duities is assinting administrators in updating / adding /removing old plugins as to create your own plugins for a unique experiance..

Linux knowledge is also required I can easily each any of you how to operator linux.

Final notes; If the best you have done is run a server hosted on your computer, You are hit out of luck. I manage over 10 servers, website community and everything.

The server in question is a i7 6core processor hosted in a private datacenter. We have 100/100 internet, unlimited.

The server is easily capable of holding hundreds of players.

We also use a raid 1 harddrive setup to maximum reliablity in the even of a harddrive failure.

There is only 2 main minecraft servers hosted at this point in time.
1. A buildcraft / IC / redpower / foresty / many other mods as well as factions and essentials support. It is extremely fun to play on

The server you will be mainly involved in is the main server, which has a good 20 or so worlds.

Players -> Tusted rank -> VIP -> Sponser -> JR Moderator -> Moderator -< Administrator / Developer-> Owner.

If you can prove to be able to the job , then you will be promoted to the administrator rank.

Ok look at the n00b above me? Not very smart huh? Anyways here is my application for number 2 of your problems.

I know how to use linux. My dad is a database administrator. Try cat /dev/stdin and then typing something in and hit enter. Fun. Catting /dev/stdout has the same effect.

I know how to program and have a few plugins on bukkit dev.

I've been playing minecraft for over a year.

I know how to use just about every popular plugin and in the case I didn't know how to use one I could easily learn how to in <5 minutes.

I ran a 50 player server which was full almost 24/7 and every user was very happy. I was op on about 7 more.

Danzee got the job a long time ago. He has been doing the job just fine.

His job is pretty easy anyways.... Update plugins for minecrafts weekly patches. Fix a few bugs, about it.

I do the fun part, keeping the server running 24/7/365. Fighting off ddos attacks(Which, happens often...... Don't ask me why.)

ALTHOUGH, I might have a secondary job up.... Im thinking about putting our tekkit server back up. It would need a full blown manager for it. The last time it ran, It worked fine. I just do not have the time to manage it myself, Neither does dan.

 

0.o I wonder why it gets DDoseD so much. Sort of pointless. If you want a manager for your tekkit server count me in. I'm good at dealing with people as well(I am less ragey in minecraft) so I could also serve admin to help players.

Just curious how do you fight DDos's off? I know nothing about hacking.

I have craploads of time.

 

I have a few lines of defenses.
1. Proxy all of the traffic going into your services. Cloud flare can accomplish this for free. They will also block a lot of spam bots and such.
2. I have direct access to a cisco 2800 series router to null route attacks, Since, im hosted at a datacenter, It usually takes a good bit of traffic to bog down the server if most of it is null routed.
3. Our core routers have ID systems that will automatically null route some of the traffic.
4. Syn-Ack / Limit rules in your iptables.
5. Set your firewall up very good.
6. In the worst case attacks, I can shut off the main interface, eth0.

You CANT 100% protect against the attacks, but, the small things help alot. Anybody with a 120k botnet can easily overwhelm a lot of equipment. But, Thats what I do.
