Mojang have just released an update for Minecraft, bringing us to Minecraft 1.1.

Along with several bug fixes, this update provides the following:
    • Bow Enchantments
    • Golden Apple recipe
    • New language translations.
    • Slightly smoothed color transitions between biomes
    • Reduced brewing time to 20 seconds
    • Added spawn eggs to creative (the colors of the eggs even look like the mobs)
    • Added world type options (currently only super-flat and default)
    • Removed collision box from ladders
    • Sheep eat grass and regain their wool
While you wait for us to release an update, check out this video for a sneak peek on what Minecraft 1.1 has to offer:

Please try and advise your users not to update or they will likely not be able to connect to your server. If you would like to help us out with the update process, you can hop on our IRC chat on irc.esper.net @ #bukkit and report any bugs you come across (both Minecraft and Bukkit bugs when we have a compatible development build out).

This is just a short announcement to let you know that we are aware of this and are working on it as I type this.

Thanks for your patience and understanding. As always, we'll have a development build out as soon as possible to support this update and will follow with an RB when we feel it is ready.

What everyone is failing to realize though is: My lord that narrator on the linked youtube video has such an awesome voice!

  5. Well then you're just another user that's addicted to modcraft and not Minecraft itself. This is a game I could bring to a deserted island and play by myself for weeks on end with NO INTERNET, no mods. If you rely on mods you likely aren't that creative and need constant distractions (chat spammy server mods, 100s of players distracting you from the greater goal) and your builds are probably shit anyways. Single player will sharpen your skill unlike anything else.

Like most of this community... Just a bunch of server hopping griefing waste of time mojangsters that I eventually ban. In my experiences most of the mc community is against punching wood in a game that's all about... punching wood.

But I do agree they should move towards co-oping more with bukkit. Then again, I'm fine sticking with the previous build for a few weeks. No...big...deal....

Thanks for letting us know you guys started on it. It would be great if you gave an guesstimate as to when it will be ready.

Will we need new worlds to see the new content?

Ah thanks -- on mcupdate it only said "Slightly smoothed color transitions between biomes" which doesn't sound like the actual terrain changed, just the way the grass color is displayed.. :)
There's just too much places information gets posted, I lost track I guess :D

Do the plugins need to be updated to work on 1.1?

Depends. Most will still work but some might break, depending on what has changed. If for example a concept changes (e.g. minecarts) it could break or if a bukkit class changes name...

    Ok, thank you

Are there actually new biomes, or just a transition into biomes?

Haha.. some of these posts are silly. You think you're sick of updating your servers so often? Try being a member of the Bukkit Team! They *obligate* themselves with dedication to see out a recommended build for all versions as quickly as possible. If anyone is to be harassed to make updates much less often, it is the Mojang team.

That said. I love you Bukkit! (And you too Mojang, don't get me wrong. No MC = No Bukkit)

First things first: Thanks for the new version, going to try it out soon!

    From Dinnerbone's twitter:

My guess is that it's for redstone circuit developers? (guessed detail white-on-white below)
redstone wires at the sides of blocks?

Okay everyone, lets stop spamming this thread with useless posts.

There is now a development build for 1.1 available, but it is not a recommended build and may contain some large bugs.

I'm interested in this, too. Are worlds from v1.0.1 fully compatible with the new biomes?

Ok the biome transitions seem to work on 1.0 maps (and work well too). Not come across any new biomes yet, but the seed I've checked so far has no obvious clashing on new chunks. I suspect i've just not found deviations yet.

And I just got Sniper duel too :)

As stated above, we have a development build out that is compatible with Minecraft 1.1. Please do not ask for a download link. If you should be using these builds, you'd know where to find them already.

Any links posted or any posts asking for a link will be deleted.

    Patience is a virtue.
I'm sure the RB won't take too long.

    Just tried out 1714 with MendelSheep.jar PickBoat.jar SignLift.jar SmoothRide1.0.jar dynmap.jar motd.jar.

Seems to work fine so far. Suffocated to the boat-in-the-wall-bug which isn't bukkit's issue, though.

  28. Or look at the Digiex Minecraft Launcher/Version Tool, which will allow you to get and use the older versions.

Not that this is on topic for the subject or anything, so I'll stop here on this subject.

On topic, good work Bukkit! Patiently awaiting the RB, then on to testing the plugins I use. The users who have no idea what's involved in running a stable server (read: those who are generally the loudest complainers) can sit and spin or go somewhere else. No one needs players like that.:p
