    Permissions 3.0
Rcjrrcjr has been working quite hard on this upgrade to Permissions. However, it currently still suffers from a number of bugs. The most important of these which directly affects HeroChat is the non-functioning of prefixes and suffixes. There are less-than-pretty workarounds, but I'm refraining from fully supporting an update until Permissions 3.1 is released which should include a number of significant bug fixes. When this does occur, however, I have a build ready for you guys that should work. You can download it here. Again, I highly suggest not using this until Permissions 3.1 is released unless you really don't care about prefixes and such.

See you when I get back!

Is your config resetting when you make changes?
If you make changes to the config while the server is running, you need to use the /ch reload command to make the changes stick. I wish this message wasn't necessary, but people only seem to read things in big, bold, red text (if at all).

Have a problem? a feature request? Go here.
HeroChat now has its very own redmine found here. If you have an issue or would like to suggest a new feature, I urge you to file it via redmine. I will be checking this much more often than this thread from here on out.

    Rebes

I ended up downgrading CraftIRC to 2.0 RC 12, and now almost everything works great... The only weird thing is that joins in the #g irc channel aren't showing up in [g] in game (Although joining #staff is showing up in [staff] in game).

Anyways, that'd be my recommendation, downgrade, and everything works.

    No ETA given.
Can check github im sure it's on there.
We're busy - the community generally supports this plugin - seeing as 99% of the errors are config related.
    Are you op'd ?

Got it, I didn't think that was right because I hadn't touched the config, but a recent server crash wiped some textfiles, the config included. Got it sorted out!

Once the plugin is removed, it cannot affect your system any longer. There isn't a possible way your text can get "stuck blue" - did you shut down the server, remove the HeroChat.jar and HeroChat/ folder from your plugins/ folder, and start the server up again? Do you have any other plugins which affect the chat in any way?

    Mr. X

    Can you update the plugin?

Soo... how close are you all to finishing? I'm thinking about setting up an other chat plugin in the mean time. But I dont want to start setting up an other plugin if your almost done.. Ty for any info..

  14. Why not use the current version? It's still the best chat plugin I've used, and works on 1.0 (for me anyway, with bPermissions).

Chat events now store a list of intended recipients, via event.getRecipients(). If you need the chat message to only reach certain players due to local or channel chat, instead of cancelling the chat event and using player.sendMessage(), you can instead alter the list of recipients and remove anyone who shouldn't receive the message. Your plugin will then play nicer with other plugins which modify chat messages. As a usage example, Essentials uses this to remove people from a chat message's recipient list if they are ignoring the person speaking:

    Uh, nice.
#3 works so far with PEX, but some things are missing. (like "no one can hear you" or /ch reload)

I like the new Config-System, looks very good and easy to configure!
But will herochat still need vault in the future?
(I don't like, if plugins need other plugins to work)

Thanks for updating your great Plugin! Can't wait for the first RB ;)

All hero plugins are moving to use Vault, so they can easily support everything with no conflicts.

What are the 5.0 changes - I also noticed that this version doesnt generate a config

Not sure why you are apprehensive about plugins that require a universal API plugin. It's like any of sk89q's plugins requiring WorldEdit - except that Vault does a lot less, it's only a permission/economy/chat system API and if it expands it will only be an API resource, nothing more.

I don't like it (especially for little "addon" and important plugins like herochat) because after some time, I have to use many Plugins,

    like:
Worldedit for Commandbook, Commandhelper, Worldguard, SimpleAFK...
    Vault for herochat...
Register for some other like Showcase
Bigbrother + Websent for the XrayChecker
    Spout for Spy-, antiXray-Plugins etc.

    My only Problem is:
If e.g. the Author becomes inactive or Bukkit break one Plugin like Worldedit, many other plugin doesn't work anymore.
If the "API-Plugins" are always active and up-to-date, I've got no problem ;)
(except an overloaded plugin-directory with plugins, which have the only need to run other plugins *g*)

Spout is a bridge plugin, As the developers of it say, alone it does very little. If you dont like some peoples coding like this then you should probably just learn java and code it yourself. Vault is much the same, its as sleaker says an "api" plugin meaning it makes it easier for developers to code. Instead of importing 293409278402974209472947234907 bukkit methods to do maybe 3 functions vault consolidates it and also adds developers more features to bridge between. So the argument from my stand point is 1 extra plugin vs large mass of messy code (which can cause more performance issues than 1 extra plugin) Unless of course I'm misunderstanding the purpose of the plugin..

Meanwhile I need for every 3rd (little)Plugin an other API Plugin ;)

I understand the advantage and need of API plugin, generally it's clever & smart,
but I don't understand why more and more little (helper)Plugins need this APIs.

But let's wait for the final 5.0 build, would be great to have the choice:
If I need Option YX, I have to use Vault, If I don't need Function XY, I don't have to use Vault. (If it's possible)

But I'm curious about the new functions...
I think with vault, there will be some Options like
"automatic creation of Channels per Class/Rank or Death Players", "buyable Channels" etc.
