I won't port LogBlock myself to mcAPI. Source code is available, so it shouldn't be to difficult for someone else to do it, also I'm still here. so I can answer questions. If there is more than one willing, that's up to you to handle that.

The reasons I take this step, are the usual: I quit playing Minecraft about 5 months ago and lastly I was struggling to keep up with updates. The developement of Guardian made slow progress, so I fear it won't be ready to fully replace LB in time.

    Description:

LogBlock logs block changes into a MySQL database. Block changes can be placed or destroyed block, explosions, burned blocks, sign text changes, chest access, leaves decay etc.
It can be used as griefer identification tool, to find out who build a particular building, or even roll back changes by certain players. Other purposes can be e.g: Undoing of forest fires
All additional features are optional, to keep the database as short as possible. All database actions run in their own threads to avoid server lags.
The use of permissions plugin (or any clone) is possible, but not necessary.
Uses Spout for chest logging (but it's fully optional, and there is no need for the client mod at all).

    Features:
    • Logging for block placing, block braking, fire, explosions, leaves decay, signtexts, lava flow and chest content
    • Very mighty commands system, not only allowing to rollback and redo, but also to tp to blockchanges, delete log ingame etc. Full list of commands.
    • Many parameters for lookup/rollback/redo/tp/clearlog commands: Block changes of one ore more player, in a specific area, in a world edit selection, specific block types only, block changes older or newer that a specific date, destroyed/created block only, in a different world and combinations of all these parameters. Full list of parameters.
    • Rebuilding map after importing a backup (/lb redo)
    • Last parameter to use the parameters of the last command
    • Quick ingame lookup of block history a wood pickaxe or a bedrock block.
    • All commands accessible from console (exept tools :D)
    • Custom queries for tools.
    • Different tool modes (lookup, rollback, redo, writelogfile and clearlog)
    • Saves block data like wool color, log type, torch adjustment, etc
    • Multiworld and multiserver support (some servers sharing the same database)
    • BigBrother log import
    • Loggable super pickaxe plugin (not to confuse with WorldEdit's super pickaxe)
    • API
    • Webstats
    Why to use LogBlock:

Example commands: (thanks to tha d0ctor, read more about commands here)

/lb rollback player fire since 1d3h – rolls back fire 1 day 3 hours
/lb rollback player fire since 1d3h area 15 – rolls back fire 1 day 3 hours within a radius of 15 blocks

    /lb rollback player thad0ctor since 1h - rolls back thad0ctor 1 hour
/lb rollback player thad0ctor since 1d area 5 – rolls back thad0ctor actions for the last day within 5 blocks
/lb rollback area 10 since 1h30m - rolls back all modifications within 10 blocks since the list 1 hours and 30 mins
/lb rollback area 10 before 06.11.2011 - roll back all changes in an area of 1o before June 11th, 2011
/lb rollback player thad0ctor since 05:36:00 - roll back all changes of thad0ctor since 05:36 (server time)

    How to post error messages:

I won't aswer questions to general MySQL setup/installation/what is MySQL (there are lots of good tutorials out there, use google)
Please read the installation guide before asking a question about installation problems.
Please read the FAQ before posting a error report. It may be solved there.
In case of rollback or lookup problems: Type /lb savequeue and try again (when it's fixed then, it was a consumer problem, see FAQ)
When you post error messages, it's important to paste the whole stack trace!

One thing I love about BigBrother, and would be grateful should it be implemented here is the way it handles its output; nice use of colours, organisation and ease of understandability is what I seek for in a great logging plugin -- but this is better than having an outdated plugin! ;D

Keep up with the good work.

It's planned, but I didn't got it finished until today's update.

Why is it BigBrother logged Everything fine, where as this plugin seems to log log alot of things as 'Unidentified' or whatever, making it impossible to rollback..?

  6. Offline

    DiddiZ

It's logged as unidentified when there is no block id in the event. That's caused by bukkit or plugin bugs. Some logging plugins just drop these changes.

If you can tell me about the circumstances, or find a pattern, I'll confirm that and pull a fix to bukkit or talk to the plugin dev.

Will there be another plugin like LogBlock? Cause on BukkitDev, LogBlock is marked as inactive...

I have no idea what causes it.. Thats the point in logblock.. finding griefers AFTER they griefed lol.. if i saw em doing it i wouldnt need this Awesome plugin xD

I love this plugin, I would use it but its rollbacks are garbage. This is my favorite as its so easy to find, and see things. BUT I get a huge rollback of a million edits in a creative world or something and it will rollback maby 1000 out of a million. Hawkeye has amazing heavy duty rollbacks but is not the greatest for seeing logs etc. So I HIGHLY suggest an upgrade with your whole rollback system.

I think you may have missed this one error I got. I still have it using any functions. I have to manually surf phpMyAdmin to find the info I'm looking for xD

And because of this I can't rollback, but instead just can ban the players in question, also not really knowing if they did anything really bad or not besides placing some AIR whatever that means. (I guess breaking blocks?)

    DiddiZ

    I never encountered such problems.

If you map isn't too large, you could give me a copy and an export of your database for to check that.
Hm, caused by reload instead of restart. Bukkit messes up some permissions by not deleting them.
I can add a check whether the permission is already present.

    EDIT: Check out dev #61

I've been experiencing odd issues with this plugin recently. Everything was going fine, logging and blocking, and all of a sudden the plugin couldn't connect to the database anymore. I am certain that the database info is entered correctly. Here is the stack trace:

    MySQL server seems freezed/crashed.
Restart you MySQL server, or on a managed server ask you hoster about that.

    And ty :D

    JCtrl

Looks like that's not the problem :( The MySQL server didn't crash, and is working fine. Would this be an error with the plugin or with the SQL server and/or Minecraft server?
Contacted support for both, seems nothing changed recently, aside the fact that I can't connect anymore.

    DiddiZ

Either MySQL or the server itself. There are some other reasons possible, like Firewall or MySQL config changed.
A MySQL restart helped in most cases in the past, cause the server can still run, and also answer to phpMyAdmin through pipe, but the TCP listener could be freezed/crashed.

I don't know enough about your system.

THIS IS BAD. VERY BAD. Default Permissions Should ONLY be OP.

This means ANYONE even GUESTS can give themselves the tool and toolblock, then sell it or exploit with the default bedrock.

Also, says in chat that there is an update to this version 1.40 to 1.32, the previous version.

No. It's just like before, you need 'logblock.tools.toolblock' permission to use /lb tb. And now you need 'logblock.spawnTools' additionally to get the bedrock.

    Not really. Try:
    REPAIR TABLE `lb-players`;
    ANALYZE TABLE `lb-players`;
    OPTIMIZE TABLE `lb-players`;

If that doesn't change anything, delete/rename the tables so they can be auto recreated.
Hm? That doesn't work for me.
