    New Towny Website!

Taking Shades' Towny a step farther.

A versatile, player-controlled land management plugin for use with Bukkit/Tekkit/Spigot/Libigot, offering solutions for pvp, griefing, chat, inflated economies and monsters.

    Features (open)

Towny includes a wide variety of features to offer instant enhancements to your traditional Minecraft server.
    • Allows players to own and manage land based on a pre-set grid layout.
      • Players join towns and purchase plots of land.
      • Players decide who can build, destroy, use "switchs" and use items on every plot they control.
      • Towns can join together into nations, further structuring a server into teams.
      • Towns grant protection from monsters, pvp, fire, explosions and greifing.
    • Wilderness Rules (Optional)
      • Area between towns is wilderness, with its own build permissions.
      • Limit players' interaction with the wild to just harvest-able blocks, keeping the wild pristine.
      • Roll-back tnt, creeper, wither explosions, dragon damage and endermen block-moving.
      • Block explosions and fire.
    • PVP Enhancements
      • Server with a strong PVP aspect will find Towny's grouping of players to be invaluable.
      • Prevent friendly-fire. (Optional)
      • Nations split players into larger teams.
      • Nations can declare other nations to be allies or enemies, further splitting players into even larger teams.
      • PVP can be turned on/off in wilderness, towns and worlds. (Optional)
    • Teleporting/Warping and Spawning (Optional)
      • Players can spawn to their town upon death.
      • Players can spawn to their town or a town that is within their nation/allied with their nation.
    • Customized modified chat. (Optional)
      • Colours, group prefixes and suffixes, nation, town, towny titles.
      • Channels for general, local, town, nation, moderator, admin and custom channels.
      • Anti-spam feature.

      • Limit shops to special Shop Plots, enhancing realism.
    • Economy plugin interaction. (Optional)
      • Supports all economy plugins.
      • Charge money for plots, towns, nations.
      • Flexible tax system.
      • Upkeep to remove money from the economy, stopping rampant inflation.
    • All Permissions Plugins supported. (Optional)
      • Perms 2/3, GroupManager, BukkitPermissions, bPermissions, PermissionsEx, etc.
    • Multiworld Support
      • Flexible settings for every world.

    Optional
    • Questioner 0.6
    • Essentials 2.5+ - (Towny /town spawn's obey Essentials teleport cooldown)
    • All permissions plugins are supported and provide greater customization (recomend GroupManager).

This is driving me nuts! I'm pretty sure I did everything I was supposed to, the console gives me no errors, so I've gotten towny, questioner, Iconomy and group manager working nicely together. Set my nodes and yet...

I can't /plot claim. No matter where I am it tells me the Selected area contains no valid plots. I open the map thingy, and it says every plot around me is unclaimed. What am I doing wrong?

  3. it would be nice if you could add support though as it isnt possible to update from 5 to 6, you have to do a wipe, and with people doing major server wipes with the 1.8 update it seems wise to switch to ico6 even though it is still in beta.

    Thanks Spidi

You've got to use /town claim on a plot before you put it up for sale with /plot forsale then use /plot claim.

Hmm. I wanted to use towny's functionality as both a way to start towns, and a way for individual players to have their own plots (still only 1 plot per player though) . So now each players personal plot will have to be a "town"?

  6. You could simply support register and everything will be fine and supported =)

  7. I#ve already commented on Register.

I'm not going to import masses of code from register, and keep synced with their repo for those parts, when it's bloatware to do so. When register is released as a seperate plugin we can hook it will be worth using.
It's also coded i such a way that it throws masses of warnings. We do not code like that or accept code in such a condition.

any chance to support essentials eco ? :)

  9. Yes, and to Bose eco too. It's on the cards, but so are a lot of things.

Do you have any idea when Towny will support BOSeconomy? We are discussing the use of either iConomy or BOSecomony, however we would prefer BOSe, but find Towny more important.

BOSEconomy is nice but there's nothing wrong with iConomy 5.01 (just ignore the bank feature) and there are many more plugins that you can use if you choose iConomy. The only downside to using it now is that supposedly ico6 wont be backwards compatible with ico5 databases (crazy, but someone will probably write some kind of converter.)

well, i installed .76 and .4 questioner on 1.8.1 and CB #1139 and all seems to go good, until someone types /towny map or /towny map big. It always works for me(the admin) but when someone else tries, it gives this error. I thought it might be because i was OP so I tried OPing someone, and it still did it for them. I never get the error. but others do. It seems to work for the player after about 5 minutes after a server restart or plugin reload though.

I have a question, not sure if its possible as it is in the plugin.
is it possible to limit the number of cities, by size?

for example, I know I can set a max of say "10' and have 10 townys total.
but say I want to allow 10 1 person towns, and 15 towns of 2-4 people. can this be done?

running into an issue of we tried setting the limit to 10 towns,
and we reset for 1.8.1 map....

now we have 10 1 person towns that want to be greedy, and have protection without caring about people actually wanting "towns'.

which is causing the players that want to join together and make large towns have no towns left to claim.
I could bump up the total city count, but more than likely if I bump it to 15, 5 more solo people will snatch them up..and be in the same situation again

I've got an issue with monsters not spawning when i have forced them to spawn within towns.

    # force_town_monsters_on is a global flag and overrides any towns flag setting
    force_town_monsters_on: 'true'

...then a skelly spawned outside of my boarder while I was mining, came into my town border and then despawned.

I'm using the latest CB dev build.

If you're setting it in the config.yml that is only defaults for worlds. Use the /tw toggle townmobs to force mobs in towns per-world.

ico 6 will probably be supported after it is released and working for everyone, towny isn't going to update (aside from the dev builds) until 1.8 is out.

i'm new to plugins and stuff, just wondering if this is normal? towny doesn't seem to be loading

turns out iconomy is what caused the error, is there a place i can download an old version of iconomy? the site only has 6

This has been mentioned over and over again, but I guess I'll just say it again for everyone who can't read the last couple pages of a thread:

ico6 and towny don't work yet, you will need to use ico5 until towny is updated for ico6 support.

Hi there, I have recently started a new town in a server that incorporates towny and I have to say, I am not very fond of it. My problem is this: I find the setting up plots part unnecessarily complicated. I despise the fact taht you have to follow chunks and build your town around them, instead of the other way around. Due to this, I was forced to remove a lot of plots, roads, and buildings that werent "Chunk Centered". I am not a coder and therfore know nothing of coding restrictions or limits but, wouldnt it be easier to make a "wand" system, similar to WE, that could create plots chosen by the mayor instead? Otherwise, the plugin is great, protects cities, allows the growing of communites, and prevents mob swarming.
