    Introduction to Heroes
    Heroes is a dynamic, flexible and highly configurable class, skill and experience system. Heroes itself is the hub of your players RPG experience, boasting classes, multi-tiered and fully fleshed out. Along with classes, Heroes offers your players a new style of PvP through our well-developed skill system and our weapon + armor restrictions. No longer will your mages have the ability to use diamond swords, your rogues will no longer sneak around in their heavy diamond tunics and most importantly, you can now hurl fireballs and stun your targets. The best part of this? It's your choice how your Heroes is set up, don't want a certain skill, that's fine, you can just remove the skill and be done with it! We're working towards making everything about Heroes configurable.

    What can I do with it?
    With Heroes, you can do almost anything you'd want to do on an RPG server. The main feature is our customizable tiered class system, which offers as much to the server owner as possible. Your Heroes could be totally unique to your server, it could be the reason players play your server over a server with Heroes but a different set up. The same can be said about our skill system, it's unique to any of the other RPG plugins out there. Other plugins dub "Skills" as methods which you level up, this isn't the case with Heroes. Skills are things you can do which are unique to your class. Some of our favorite skills are Fireball, Jump and Port. This is what makes Heroes unique.

    What will you help me with?
    We'll help you with errors. That is where it ends. We will not be supporting your issues with your configuration files unless it's a bug within our code. Heroes is a big plugin and it's taken a few months to develop, we don't want to spend the next few months supporting silly issues rather than developing new and awesome features. Posting in this thread with an issue regarding a YML file will get you ignored. We'll be OK with helping you understand the configuration files, but we will not be fixing them for you.

    Where can I download it?
    You can download the latest recommended build here. You can download only the primary Heroes jar or the primary jar along with all the skills provided in a ZIP archive. Each skill inside the ZIP is enclosed in it's own jar, meaning you can pick and choose what skills you want your server to run. This is so you don't have un-necessary weight on your server.

      • Permission nodes to set what classes are obtainable for the default user

      • Skills in the base platform of Heroes
      • All permitted skills start with /skill <skillname>
      • Allows for developers to add in their own code for new skills
      • Adjustable through skills.yml or overwritten in classes.yml
    • Permission Skills
      • Based on the permission-node system, ability to set the level required to learn certain permission-nodes to have a highly configurable system.
      • Does not use the /skill prefix - Permission skills copy the original command exactly.
      • Also works with non-command required Permission nodes (ie. Firelord for special armor abilities for certain classes)
      • Example: herosneak.sneak can be granted to a "Rogue" class at level 10 - so when they reach level 10 - they can now use the ability /sneak
    • Binding Skills
      • Ability to '/bind <skillname>' to an item to right click and use that skill
      • Use '/bind' again to clear the bind and remove the right click ability
      • Currently only works for Permitted-Skills
    • Inventory Restriction
      • Armor & Weapon restrictions based on level and class
      • Configurable in classes.yml [DIAMOND]
    • Levels
      • /level - to show information about the level - comes with a nice interface to show you how much left to obtain the next level.
      • Set a mastery level - once achieved the user may switch to different classes and have their level/skills saved on the mastered class.
      • Configurable curves of exp to make lower levels easier and higher levels harder to get through
      • Optional Health gain per level
      • Configurable loss of exp (0.10 = 10% per death) by current level

      • SKILL - exp for using a skill
      • CRAFTING - exp for crafting an item
      • MINING - exp for mining blocks
      • KILLING - exp for slaying mobs
      • LOGGING - exp for jacking lumber

      • Allow bed healing for players to regenerate health in bed!

      • Server wide regen of mana - default is 5% mana regen every 5-6 seconds.

    Sleaker, is there any way to add xp to a player without resetting their xp?
    Currently using /hero admin exp name amount resets it to the amount, wondering if its possible to add an amount instead?

    Oh, i should really learn how to interpret errors, the only reason i figured it was heroes is I grabbed heroes and the new RB, thus leading to believe it was heroes, sorry for any inconvenience. >.<

    i got some proplems with heros... the classes.yml make very much read errors(Not that i tried to fix it) at line 620, but there is no error... i parsed the yml and still doing same error, i hope some1 can help me fix it. We dont use standart classes.yml and the guy that wrote it did searched 4x for faults.. but still dont found any so i request here..

    Can some1 help me?

    Maybe, it was already written, but can you make multiple parents? I saw your code and i think it's easy.
    EDIT: It's already possible. Just make few classes with same names, but with different parents.

    Sorry to keep bothering you but here is a class example:
    This class takes damage in the light (and dark). While in the light, it takes half a heart of burn damage, then heals back. But because of the burn damage it's always missing half a heart and that never fully heals. It also does duribility damage to armor which makes it impossive for them to maintain armor.

    Let me know if I am doing something wrong (which could easily be the case).

    I'm trying to find a way to add specific experience for breaking blocks/crafting etc to each class, but I'm having some difficulties. For damage, I can add the specific damages for each item per class and it works perfectly.
    Is there a way for me to do the same with experience? I'm not sure what to add to the class file to do this.
    Or is it possible to create additional categories in the experience.yml file?

    We have zero interest in working with Essentials or any of their plugins. It is considered dead and bloated code. Ask them to fix it.

    So this is the only way to have multiple parents? If I wanted to have one child class (Arcane Warrior) that could have two completely separate parent classes (Mage and Fighter), both of which can spec in the child class (arcane warrior), then I would have to create two identical child classes?

    Wow, this code is vastly superior to MCMMO. You guys are serious business. I think I'll start adding a cycle of scaling passive skills in MCMMO style to a fork; or do you have a suggestion as to how I should handle my code?

    Sorry to hear that about Essentials; I'll admit I added it to my server blindly since it used to be so popular and I'll follow your opinion. Looking at what you've done here, though, I can only imagine this addon being a major factor in the future of Minecraft as a whole. It's gorgeous.

    Only complaint is that you have to be reasonably hardcore just to set it up and understand it. Is there a large, pretty default class file somewhere I could use as a template? *EDIT* Found one in this thread, actually, never mind.

    This is an excellent mod, without doubt the best RPG plugin I've ever used. However I'm having some issues with a few skills: port, summon and shield.

    Shield
    Typing /skill shield has no apparent effect.

    Summon
    /skill summon brings up the help text, /skill summon <anythinghere> has no apparent effect

    Port
    /skill port brings up the help text, /skill port <anythinghere> has no apparent effect

    Am I doing something wrong, and how can I fix these? The debug logs say they've loaded correctly, and I'm running Spout 134 with CraftBukkit 1060.

    James, I'm fairly certain you can't have multi-worded classes like Paladin Healer and Ice Mage.

    Also, your paladin healer class is missing a : right after it's name. I quickly glanced at it, you may have more config errors than those. Double check your yml

    For port to work you have to have defined port locations in the config.
    Shield isn't a skill you type. It lets you reduce damage when holding a door (wood, iron, or trap varieties).

    You have incompatible heroes and bukkit versions. Make sure that you are using bukkit build 1060 with the latest build of Heroes.



    Aha! I left in some debug code that set the burn time to 20... Redownload now and it should work.
