    Introduction to Heroes
    Heroes is a dynamic, flexible and highly configurable class, skill and experience system. Heroes itself is the hub of your players RPG experience, boasting classes, multi-tiered and fully fleshed out. Along with classes, Heroes offers your players a new style of PvP through our well-developed skill system and our weapon + armor restrictions. No longer will your mages have the ability to use diamond swords, your rogues will no longer sneak around in their heavy diamond tunics and most importantly, you can now hurl fireballs and stun your targets. The best part of this? It's your choice how your Heroes is set up, don't want a certain skill, that's fine, you can just remove the skill and be done with it! We're working towards making everything about Heroes configurable.

    What can I do with it?
    With Heroes, you can do almost anything you'd want to do on an RPG server. The main feature is our customizable tiered class system, which offers as much to the server owner as possible. Your Heroes could be totally unique to your server, it could be the reason players play your server over a server with Heroes but a different set up. The same can be said about our skill system, it's unique to any of the other RPG plugins out there. Other plugins dub "Skills" as methods which you level up, this isn't the case with Heroes. Skills are things you can do which are unique to your class. Some of our favorite skills are Fireball, Jump and Port. This is what makes Heroes unique.

    What will you help me with?
    We'll help you with errors. That is where it ends. We will not be supporting your issues with your configuration files unless it's a bug within our code. Heroes is a big plugin and it's taken a few months to develop, we don't want to spend the next few months supporting silly issues rather than developing new and awesome features. Posting in this thread with an issue regarding a YML file will get you ignored. We'll be OK with helping you understand the configuration files, but we will not be fixing them for you.

    Where can I download it?
    You can download the latest recommended build here. You can download only the primary Heroes jar or the primary jar along with all the skills provided in a ZIP archive. Each skill inside the ZIP is enclosed in it's own jar, meaning you can pick and choose what skills you want your server to run. This is so you don't have un-necessary weight on your server.

      • Permission nodes to set what classes are obtainable for the default user
      • Custom class names
      • 'Parent | Child' optional relationship, (example HEALER -> CLERIC)

      • Skills in the base platform of Heroes
      • All permitted skills start with /skill <skillname>
      • Allows for developers to add in their own code for new skills
      • Adjustable through skills.yml or overwritten in classes.yml
    • Permission Skills
      • Based on the permission-node system, ability to set the level required to learn certain permission-nodes to have a highly configurable system.
      • Does not use the /skill prefix - Permission skills copy the original command exactly.
      • Also works with non-command required Permission nodes (ie. Firelord for special armor abilities for certain classes)
      • Example: herosneak.sneak can be granted to a "Rogue" class at level 10 - so when they reach level 10 - they can now use the ability /sneak
    • Binding Skills
      • Ability to '/bind <skillname>' to an item to right click and use that skill
      • Use '/bind' again to clear the bind and remove the right click ability
      • Currently only works for Permitted-Skills
    • Inventory Restriction
      • Armor & Weapon restrictions based on level and class
      • Configurable in classes.yml [DIAMOND]
    • Levels
      • /level - to show information about the level - comes with a nice interface to show you how much left to obtain the next level.
      • Set a mastery level - once achieved the user may switch to different classes and have their level/skills saved on the mastered class.
      • Configurable curves of exp to make lower levels easier and higher levels harder to get through
      • Optional Health gain per level
      • Configurable loss of exp (0.10 = 10% per death) by current level

      • SKILL - exp for using a skill
      • CRAFTING - exp for crafting an item
      • MINING - exp for mining blocks
      • KILLING - exp for slaying mobs
      • LOGGING - exp for jacking lumber

      • Allow bed healing for players to regenerate health in bed!

      • Server wide regen of mana - default is 5% mana regen every 5-6 seconds.

    Backstab - Extra damage when attacking from behind
    Bandage - Bandages the target + Cures Bleeds

    Battery - Gives your target mana

    Were you trying to open the .class files in the .jar itself? If so, you would have had to decompile the code with a tool such as Java Decompiler. A much simpler way is to find the code on github here.

    Hey i instlled this plugin and i made 3 cleric 1-35 paladin 36-75 76-100 guardian, i set each as the parent of the other but the level thing how i do i set a upgrade at a certain level if i can. second whenever my server members log off and come back on the next day theyve lost all the progress and are back at beginners am i doing something wrong? what would cause that? any places for npc quest integration? ah yeah i have DIAMOND in the tools for my guardian class but it wont let use diamond stuff? do i need to specify more?

    ah i forgot last post. is there any way to shut up the skill messages? when we do big boss battles the chat litterly becomes "PLAYER USED BOLT" over and over and over and over which disables the whole group funtctionality

    The reason you got that response is because the exact same error has been reported several times before with the same exact replies. Search through the thread and read up. You'll find the answer you're after.

    The NPC functions aren't a part of this mod. I would recommend checking the other permissions with the mod you are trying to use with it. Maybe there is another node you need to add, such as npc.use or npc.texture or something like that? Just a thought.

    The upgrade level is the maximum level on the config.yml file that you set. It can't be altered. However, an easy way around this is to adjust the exp multiplier for each class. That will let you level the lower ones faster.
    Check your server logs for errors, especially for logging in and out with your players' files. You might hit what I was at one point where Heroes can't have the login and logout passed to it. Typically that is interference from another plugin.
    No clue for the NPC integration. I think right now the devs are more concerned with just squashing all the bugs they have encountered.
    For the diamond issue, try using stuff like DIAMOND_SWORD, DIAMOND_SPADE, etc. I hit the same thing once and that fixed it.

    Check your /hero command help files. On page 2 there is a command listing called /hero stfu <skill name> It squelches all the spam for that specific skill.

    I almost totally missed this post! THG3, thanks! You gave me a nudge in the right direction so I can do a much desired update. Out of curiosity, which version of spout are you running? Thanks!

    We will never support GM. it lacks the basics for Heroes to work. (transient Permissions)
    When time permits. It's still low on the list of things to do but is on the list.

    Heroes 1.2.0 or 1.1.5 will be out sometime soon - we're waiting on a RB before shoving it out.

    Could I petition to move it up the list? Seems like it'd be a quick and easy add, and permissions 3.x is essentially dead. Most servers/plugins are moving towards PermissionsBukkit anyways.

    3.16 isnt dead, we still use it on the base/home server for Heroes and have no plans on moving away from it at the moment.
    It'll come in, if you want to code it for us, just lemme know.

    For those who care:
    I am on bereavement leave - I am out of state for the next 5-8 days for a funeral and support will be limited.

    Worldguard is a great method.

    I have 1 request. Could you make a WaterEffects2, FireEffects2, etc. I want some classes to gain life from that element, but other classes to take damage from that element. I can't think of anyway to do this except having two seperat skills which are the exact same except 1 does damage and the other heals.

    Other than that I love these mods. I've only noticed a few problems. Sometimes the regen insta heals a player to full ignoring what I set in the config, but I can't figure out why. It only randomly happens. Also with Light Effects, I have it so "Angels" heal in the light. But everytime they go in the light, they are set on fire. This fire does no damage, but they still find is annoying.
    Anyway, thanks for the skills.

    When setting up skills from external plugins, like...say HeroSneak, is it possible to have the custom skill feed the /command directly in invisibly to the player? So, instead of telling the player to type /sneak to use the skill, the skill can be bound like internal Heroes commands are?

    Hope that makes sense.

    We've just been testing to implement this plugin.
    So far almost all the commands are working, I just have a few questions regarding a couple of skills.

    Both fireball and icebolt, even though they are set to do 4 damage, don't do any damage. The throw the snowball at the target, but no damage is done.

    SuperHeat is set to 20k duration, but it flashes on and then off right away.

    Summon, how do you control what creature can be summoned? It shows the syntax of /skill summon <creature> but doens't seem to work no matter what mob type I put in as creature.

    In the same regard, the spell port. How do you control the 'set location'?
