    Introduction to Heroes
    Heroes is a dynamic, flexible and highly configurable class, skill and experience system. Heroes itself is the hub of your players RPG experience, boasting classes, multi-tiered and fully fleshed out. Along with classes, Heroes offers your players a new style of PvP through our well-developed skill system and our weapon + armor restrictions. No longer will your mages have the ability to use diamond swords, your rogues will no longer sneak around in their heavy diamond tunics and most importantly, you can now hurl fireballs and stun your targets. The best part of this? It's your choice how your Heroes is set up, don't want a certain skill, that's fine, you can just remove the skill and be done with it! We're working towards making everything about Heroes configurable.

    What can I do with it?
    With Heroes, you can do almost anything you'd want to do on an RPG server. The main feature is our customizable tiered class system, which offers as much to the server owner as possible. Your Heroes could be totally unique to your server, it could be the reason players play your server over a server with Heroes but a different set up. The same can be said about our skill system, it's unique to any of the other RPG plugins out there. Other plugins dub "Skills" as methods which you level up, this isn't the case with Heroes. Skills are things you can do which are unique to your class. Some of our favorite skills are Fireball, Jump and Port. This is what makes Heroes unique.

    What will you help me with?
    We'll help you with errors. That is where it ends. We will not be supporting your issues with your configuration files unless it's a bug within our code. Heroes is a big plugin and it's taken a few months to develop, we don't want to spend the next few months supporting silly issues rather than developing new and awesome features. Posting in this thread with an issue regarding a YML file will get you ignored. We'll be OK with helping you understand the configuration files, but we will not be fixing them for you.

    Where can I download it?
    You can download the latest recommended build here. You can download only the primary Heroes jar or the primary jar along with all the skills provided in a ZIP archive. Each skill inside the ZIP is enclosed in it's own jar, meaning you can pick and choose what skills you want your server to run. This is so you don't have un-necessary weight on your server.

      • Does not use the /skill prefix - Permission skills copy the original command exactly.
      • Also works with non-command required Permission nodes (ie. Firelord for special armor abilities for certain classes)
      • Example: herosneak.sneak can be granted to a "Rogue" class at level 10 - so when they reach level 10 - they can now use the ability /sneak
    • Binding Skills
      • Ability to '/bind <skillname>' to an item to right click and use that skill
      • Use '/bind' again to clear the bind and remove the right click ability
      • Currently only works for Permitted-Skills

      • Armor & Weapon restrictions based on level and class
      • Configurable in classes.yml [DIAMOND]

      • /level - to show information about the level - comes with a nice interface to show you how much left to obtain the next level.
      • Set a mastery level - once achieved the user may switch to different classes and have their level/skills saved on the mastered class.
      • Configurable curves of exp to make lower levels easier and higher levels harder to get through
      • Optional Health gain per level
      • Configurable loss of exp (0.10 = 10% per death) by current level

    NOW THIS HAPPENS


    the hero plugin only works when the the files are not touched

    i fixed that but the plugin only work when i reset the plugin to default can u config evey thing for me and get it workin i can send my by useing filevo

    I absolutely love this mod, but mana regeneration is a bit lacking through just time, perhaps using a bucket full of milk could regenerate mana?

    Your configuration was full of spaces for nothing + you used TAB instead of SPACES.

    TIP: Use notepad++ for you future configuration. Notepad++ => Go to Setting, Preferences, Language Menu/Tab settings and check Replace by space.

    That isnt the objective of this thread or plugin - take time to configure it on your own to set it up the way you like it.
    We are definitely looking into alternative methods for mana regen, Cookies / Milk seem like a good place to start, Replenish for some classes also make it easier.

    Shield does not work for my server :/ or am I using it wrong? But I even set irondoor to 11.75 and dont see a diff. Is it suppose to be a percentage?

    Awesome! We're testing those skills on my server very soon. The monsters make it very good for our raids where one of the staff plays a boss and can spawn minions. Thanks so much for the hard work to all involved with this plugin. hopefully when 1.8 hits, it doesn't throw you into too much of a tailspin. :)

    the lighteffect plugin makes every class burn, not just one. Is there anyway to stop this?

    edit: nvm, it only happens if you change class from one with the skill to one with out. A simple relog fixes it.

    by default... that's how it works
    still not a good solution - I think it'd have to unregister the effect between switching classes
    Shield currently is broken, damage events will need to change.

    Is there any multi-world behavior currently?
    Instead of toggles, would it be possible to make a permission node for access to "Heroes," such as 'heroes.access,' and all players without that node would be unaffected by the plugin?
    Or, what is the multi-world behavior you are talking about? I haven't found any, though I might have just overlooked it.

    As much as I love the idea and flexibility of this plugin, I hate how condescending the devs are. As Gold has said, he does not have any plugins that use the Heores API. His problem is that the plugin creates a Hero file for npc's from the citizens program. He wants to know if it would be possible to add a check to be sure the "Hero" is actually a player (and if not, why). Instead of helping him you reply sarcastically and get angry when he attempts to solicit help.

    Also: can I, for class-specific purposes, rename a skill? Such as 'Smite' into 'Stab'?

    i've tested your plugin, and it looks great !
    But... (haha... there is always a "but" ! )
    Is it possible to have Multi-class System ?
    So we can make for exemple, a Backsmith class with craft restriction, and getting exp for crafting stuff ! Coupled with a Warrior class for exemple getting xp by fighting, ; ) aaaaand Coupled again with a Mining class that gets Xp while mining !

    Hello, Heroes Devs.

    One of my players stumbled across an exploit that allows players to go around the tool restriction for classes. To do the exploit you put a tool in your inventory and it will say you can't use it and will go into your inventory, then you go into your inventory quickly shift-click the tool and exit the inventory and break a block with the tool. You will then be able to use the tool for as long as you like. With bows you do the same thing but you quickly shoot an arrow before the bow disappears.

    If you would like me to I can post you a vid of the exploit.

    Hope you guys can fix this, It's a great plugin!

    Is this with or without BukkitContrib? Cause inventory checking doesn't fully work without Contrib atm as bukkit doesn't have the necessary events.

    That seems complicated to just be complicated. I believe what you're referring to is leveling up classes as if they were skills from another rpg plugin.

    Dual classes may come into fruition but its not really a design choice.

    Maybe this will help with toning down the questions of, "how can i fix this?", "what's wrong with my config/classes file?", "you can only use default settings" first off there is a slight error in the coding in how it came because there was a tab or something, i know i spent a good portion of my time troubleshooting this issue & more than likely it went unnoticed by the devs, they aren't to blame for that it's something simple and the people who actually find a fix for a problem never tell anyone else, so i'm telling you, the default configuration is slightly screwed up and unless you spend a good 48 hours trying to find out what is wrong you won't.     So, i remember seeing on here how to create a new skill.
    1. I copy the jar of the skill i want it to be like.
    2. I go into the jar and change the skill.info file to include the new skill name in place of the old
    3. and i go into the skills.yml and copy the original skill's info and paste it renaming it the new skills name.
    Is this right becuase i end up with this message when i start my server

    Devs, please feel free to correct me here, and I know I'm probably stepping out of normal zones, buuuuut....
    To class change using classes, you would need to use another plugin. This one doesn't automatically support it (to my knowledge) and would require a great deal of codework to do so. If you wish to deveop a plugin to support this feature, feel free. Otherwise, maybe try the command signs plugin?

    If there is an experience gap issue, then it is up to the server admins to find ways to work through it. That or go kill yourself some pigs, cows, etc. The purpose of a RPG is not to get super uber in one fell swoop. Maybe you should request the admins of Realmz either lower the level of the first offensive spell to level 1 instead of 2? Just saying, it's not for the devs of this mod to enforce the implementation of it.

    Renaming a skill simply would be a matter of editing the .java and .class files within the jar, then changing the name of the entire entity. If you don't know how, perhaps request someone help you out with it? As for the damage classes and skills you mentioned, I will refer to the second post of this mod from one of the devs:



    Things are still very early on with this mod. Be patient, please. As with anything, including minecraft, there is a beta period where the bugs are being worked on. If you look at the primary mod post, there is a link to the development site in the download info section. There, you can actively see how hard they are working to correct the bugs and see the progress being made in fixing the skills not working correctly.

    Again, let me say this: I am no dev and don't mean to speak out of turn here. I'm just trying to answer some questions and save them time. The more time they spend here answering questions they don't necessarily need to, the less time they have for fixing the bugs or adding features to the Heroes system. So, apologies ahead of time to our Devs if I stepped on any toes. :(
