    Introduction to Heroes
    Heroes is a dynamic, flexible and highly configurable class, skill and experience system. Heroes itself is the hub of your players RPG experience, boasting classes, multi-tiered and fully fleshed out. Along with classes, Heroes offers your players a new style of PvP through our well-developed skill system and our weapon + armor restrictions. No longer will your mages have the ability to use diamond swords, your rogues will no longer sneak around in their heavy diamond tunics and most importantly, you can now hurl fireballs and stun your targets. The best part of this? It's your choice how your Heroes is set up, don't want a certain skill, that's fine, you can just remove the skill and be done with it! We're working towards making everything about Heroes configurable.

    What can I do with it?
    With Heroes, you can do almost anything you'd want to do on an RPG server. The main feature is our customizable tiered class system, which offers as much to the server owner as possible. Your Heroes could be totally unique to your server, it could be the reason players play your server over a server with Heroes but a different set up. The same can be said about our skill system, it's unique to any of the other RPG plugins out there. Other plugins dub "Skills" as methods which you level up, this isn't the case with Heroes. Skills are things you can do which are unique to your class. Some of our favorite skills are Fireball, Jump and Port. This is what makes Heroes unique.

    What will you help me with?
    We'll help you with errors. That is where it ends. We will not be supporting your issues with your configuration files unless it's a bug within our code. Heroes is a big plugin and it's taken a few months to develop, we don't want to spend the next few months supporting silly issues rather than developing new and awesome features. Posting in this thread with an issue regarding a YML file will get you ignored. We'll be OK with helping you understand the configuration files, but we will not be fixing them for you.

    Where can I download it?
    You can download the latest recommended build here. You can download only the primary Heroes jar or the primary jar along with all the skills provided in a ZIP archive. Each skill inside the ZIP is enclosed in it's own jar, meaning you can pick and choose what skills you want your server to run. This is so you don't have un-necessary weight on your server.

      • Does not use the /skill prefix - Permission skills copy the original command exactly.
      • Also works with non-command required Permission nodes (ie. Firelord for special armor abilities for certain classes)
      • Example: herosneak.sneak can be granted to a "Rogue" class at level 10 - so when they reach level 10 - they can now use the ability /sneak
    • Binding Skills
      • Ability to '/bind <skillname>' to an item to right click and use that skill
      • Use '/bind' again to clear the bind and remove the right click ability
      • Currently only works for Permitted-Skills
    • Inventory Restriction
      • Armor & Weapon restrictions based on level and class
      • Configurable in classes.yml [DIAMOND]

      • /level - to show information about the level - comes with a nice interface to show you how much left to obtain the next level.
      • Set a mastery level - once achieved the user may switch to different classes and have their level/skills saved on the mastered class.
      • Configurable curves of exp to make lower levels easier and higher levels harder to get through
      • Optional Health gain per level
      • Configurable loss of exp (0.10 = 10% per death) by current level

    Ok I am a first timer here and I followed some tuts on how to set up permissions.. I used lates Permissions 3.1.6... I put all the neccessary permissions on permissions node

    Still I get same effect when I class change either I die or disconnect class always resets to the default class and also back to level 1..... sorry If Im such a noob.. I tried my best following the Tuts.. I feel lost so can please give an advice. I just want to stop that reset thing when my players die..

    Actually thats the tut that I followed ONE of the tuts, anyways permissions on the server runs fine my one and only problem is that STUPID RESET thing it shows no error on server log I tried redoing the server wiping out everything and start from scratch still the reset after death and disconnection is still there...
    This the groups... No error tried it on parser its clean

    The only remaining problem is when players logged in when they die or disconnect THEY RESET back to the default class icyVagrant.. below is the class yml I used this is oldielag's class sheet i edited some of the skills for testing... as you can see it will always reset to default when players die.. back to IcyVagrant and back to level 1 huhuhuhuh... I can't find the problem... pls help me... I know i Followed the tut correctly...

    Uhh sir can u please just give me an advice.. i am really desperate here until now from 9am I still cant solve the source of my problem its almost 9pm here and I have been spending all day searching some answers why on earthI keep on resetting back to default class after Disconnection and death ok.. Why is it that I keep on Resetting to default class after disconnection..     If your class is showing after you choose it. do /hero save then relog. If its resetting when you die or restart still your problem is in the class.yml not permissions. Just a note you dont need heroes.classes.* if your going to list each of them out. but it shouldnt hurt anything just redundent.

    Woo finally a reply!!! never thought of it that way and all the time i was thinkin that my permessions is the problem heheh better check I will post if there are changes. Umm btw can u show me a simple draft of classes like 2 jobs only so that I can base it as my guide if ever I find some errors in mine. Thank you so much for replying.

    EDIT: I tried using the default class.yml that comes with the heroes.jar.... still same results.. any Ideas?

    No not yet, does it affect the server in many ways when i have bukkitcontrib? I will try installing it now see if there are changes.. this is really depressing why can't I figure out the reason why I keep on resetting after DC and death... Are you guys experiencing this also??

    EDIT: OK I try installing bukkitcontrib and patch also bukkitcontrib mod client side still same results... same resetting after dc and death... I used the default class.yml this tym

    If you're using /hero admin class <name> <class>

    it doesn't persist very well.

    It's possible, not soon though. We've got our sights set on it next rb I think.

    I don't know if anyone has said anything about this, but I just wanted to quickly ask/inform you about 2 things...

    1. Casters can use fireballs I'n non-pvp areas (towns) but still damage and kill other players..
    2. Do u die if u log out and back I'n from being on fire or suffering from bleed/ticks?

    Anything? I install the plugin, and the console gets spammed with "Creating hero: <playername>" indefinitely. McMyAdmin says Heroes is enabled, but it doesn't show up in /plugins and it doesn't say "Unknown command... " when typing /hero. It just does nothing.

    Read the first post, use grant the appropriate perms nodes. Having heroes.classes.* - should suffice.
    We dont support any kind of permissions bridge, good luck.
    TRy this on default configs, with a fresh download (ie delete or rename / remove what you have) - should work.

    I started looking through the comments to find something about prefixes. I found a question, but no answer. I stopped looking at the end of page 5, and decided to just ask, so here it is:

    How do you make prefixes for classes? Is that done through Permissions? I wouldn't assume so, because how would you make it so a person is auto-added to a permission group when they select a class? I looked through the Heroes configs and found nothing. Am I missing something? Or is it a seperate plugin made by HeroCraft Coding (such as HeroChat)? Please help, because I am modeling my RPG Server after HeroCraft (except configured to my liking :p )

    Is there a reason that damage done to players seems to accumulative ? And is there a way to disable this?

    For example:

    First hit does 3.5 hearts of damage.
    Second hit does 7 hearts of damage.
    Third hit is an instant kill regardless of hp, so I assume it is 14 hearts.

    Also, in the skills.yml file, for Blaze, what exactly does fire-length do ? At first I assumed it meant how long the victim was on fire, but this does not seem to be the case.


    EDIT: It seems as though using the /heal command from another plugin is disrupting Heroes in some way. I assume its because of the damage system in place
     
  27. This seems to happen to me as well. I've pinned it down to when a player creates a party and then they go mining in the nether. It seems it is related to nether + party. The only difference is it does not restart my server, so I have been ignoring. Some of the experience from mining and killing in the nether is still shared.

    The health and damage system is flawed for me. Sometimes, I will get hit by a mob, and insta-die. Heroic Death will detect this as unknown. No errors appear on the server. Also, I cannot enter health and damage values for Skeletons, Ive tried all caps, and no caps, nothing works. What are the codes for skeletons?

    Will there potentially be an option for the Smoke skill to cancel the skill upon damage done ? So an individual cannot go invisible and destroy someone before they know what happened.
