    New Towny Website!

Taking Shades' Towny a step farther.

A versatile, player-controlled land management plugin for use with Bukkit/Tekkit/Spigot/Libigot, offering solutions for pvp, griefing, chat, inflated economies and monsters.

    Features (open)

Towny includes a wide variety of features to offer instant enhancements to your traditional Minecraft server.
    • Allows players to own and manage land based on a pre-set grid layout.
      • Players join towns and purchase plots of land.
      • Players decide who can build, destroy, use "switchs" and use items on every plot they control.
      • Towns can join together into nations, further structuring a server into teams.
      • Towns grant protection from monsters, pvp, fire, explosions and greifing.
    • Wilderness Rules (Optional)
      • Area between towns is wilderness, with its own build permissions.
      • Limit players' interaction with the wild to just harvest-able blocks, keeping the wild pristine.
      • Roll-back tnt, creeper, wither explosions, dragon damage and endermen block-moving.
      • Block explosions and fire.
    • PVP Enhancements
      • Server with a strong PVP aspect will find Towny's grouping of players to be invaluable.
      • Prevent friendly-fire. (Optional)
      • Nations split players into larger teams.
      • Nations can declare other nations to be allies or enemies, further splitting players into even larger teams.
      • PVP can be turned on/off in wilderness, towns and worlds. (Optional)
    • Teleporting/Warping and Spawning (Optional)
      • Players can spawn to their town upon death.
      • Players can spawn to their town or a town that is within their nation/allied with their nation.
    • Customized modified chat. (Optional)
      • Colours, group prefixes and suffixes, nation, town, towny titles.
      • Channels for general, local, town, nation, moderator, admin and custom channels.
      • Anti-spam feature.
    • Shop plugin support. (Optional)
      • Limit shops to special Shop Plots, enhancing realism.
    • Economy plugin interaction. (Optional)
      • Supports all economy plugins.
      • Charge money for plots, towns, nations.
      • Flexible tax system.
      • Upkeep to remove money from the economy, stopping rampant inflation.
    • All Permissions Plugins supported. (Optional)
      • Perms 2/3, GroupManager, BukkitPermissions, bPermissions, PermissionsEx, etc.
    • Multiworld Support
      • Flexible settings for every world.
      • Enable/disable Towny in as many worlds as you like.

    REQUIRES
    • No other plugins, but is best with Questioner, so that invitations are given by Towns and Nations to residents and towns.
    Optional
    • Questioner 0.6
    • Essentials 2.5+ - (Towny /town spawn's obey Essentials teleport cooldown)
    • All permissions plugins are supported and provide greater customization (recomend GroupManager).
    • Economy plugin of your choice.
(We no longer recommend using PEX at all. It breaks TownyPerms due to the reflection PEX performs.)
    Supported Economy Plugins
    • iConomy 5.01
    • iConomy 4/5 *
    • iConomy 6 *
    • EssentialsEco *
    • BOSEconomy *
    • Craftconomy *
    • * Requires Register.jar 1.8+ (or Vault) in your plugins folder.
    • Any Vault-capable economy plugin that supports false-player accounts. (Do not use register if your economy plugin is supported by vault.)

I had exactly the same problem as you and I finally resolved it.
You have to edit your world.txt file in Towny/data/worlds and manually add all your town's name with a coma between each.

  5. Yes I read your post, but that doesn't change the fact that error is caused by people NOT deleting the Config.yml AND the english.yml before upgrading.
You now have corrupt data files. Namely missing towns from the relevant world data file. Look back a few pages and you find how to fix them, or restore from backup.

I did delete both during the upgrade, I read your instructions, followed them step by step. Anyway I reverted back to my old configs and 73.1 works fine. like I said i updated EXACTLY like you said FOUR times. I have backups so its not a issue to revert back and try again. Either way there is something preventing the plugin from even starting up.

-edit- i dont have corrupt data files, all the towns are still there and functioning fine in 73.1. what do you mean?

Thanks ill give that a go tonight.

-edit- already have comas in that file.

iConomy 6.0b is released. Towny and 6.0b didn't work well for me.

Damn I miss towny. I did however promise I would not reinstall it until you switched to a more stable method of storing data. I used to have to restore from backups on a daily basis.

What was the last version you used? The updates Elgarl has made to Towny include major changes to saving and loading, fixing most corruption except that which can occur from a server crash.

    Use /ta givebonus townname amount
to grant a town more townblocks.

Is it possible that toggle to protect rails or other things from lava and water will be added in future ? Its not easy to keep eye for all things so they cant be floded with bucked placed close to town border. plot forsale plot claim with radius would be nice too.

@Hydrosis the iConomy beta doesn't include a way to automatically update your database, did you do it manually?

@musky the beta is linked in the iConomy thread's firstpost.

Well, me and my friend got to test the server again today. This still happens.
Towny version is 0.73.2, Permissions 2.7.4, and everything else is the same as when I posted earlier.

    towny war is still buggy?

    LlmDl

Majorly, the war-overhaul is slated for .80.

Known bugs are MASSIVE amounts of money being injected into the economy.

    HOLY SNAP!!
    IT'S HERE!!!

THE SALVATION of towny is here!

I understand that there will be problems, but once this all gets sorted out, towny won't get corrupted by crashes.

(also, H2 would be epic, but i can stand SQL)

You should start your own thread. This fork/build isn't going to be supported by Elgarl, myself or this thread.

    @LlmDl
I used flatfile/minidb because I didn't know how to do it. But towny disables itself for some reason when it I use iConomy (at least while using flatfile)

Turn on debugmode in the config and pastebin.com a server startup. Or jump on the IRC linked in the first post.

I just found /t toggle taxpercent in my list of commands, could you clarify what this does by any chance? As a good mayor, I'm always looking for new ways to tax my peasants. ;)

IS there a way i can only enable this on one world?

  30. Offline

    LlmDl

If you use that command the tax changes from a flat rate to a percentage of a players money. If the tax is over 100 when you toggle it, the tax is reset to zero. Of special note: a player cannot run out of money and therefore wont be kicked from your town, though he may lose his plots if you also use plottax.

Yes, set usingtowny=false in the files in towny/data/worlds/ that you dont want to use towny. Or in game while standing in each world, type /tw toggle usingtown.

No one can add residents to their towns. All other town functions work, other than (in my opinion) one of the most important ones. I get this error when trying to add residents to towns:
