    Introduction to Heroes
    Heroes is a dynamic, flexible and highly configurable class, skill and experience system. Heroes itself is the hub of your players RPG experience, boasting classes, multi-tiered and fully fleshed out. Along with classes, Heroes offers your players a new style of PvP through our well-developed skill system and our weapon + armor restrictions. No longer will your mages have the ability to use diamond swords, your rogues will no longer sneak around in their heavy diamond tunics and most importantly, you can now hurl fireballs and stun your targets. The best part of this? It's your choice how your Heroes is set up, don't want a certain skill, that's fine, you can just remove the skill and be done with it! We're working towards making everything about Heroes configurable.

    What can I do with it?
    With Heroes, you can do almost anything you'd want to do on an RPG server. The main feature is our customizable tiered class system, which offers as much to the server owner as possible. Your Heroes could be totally unique to your server, it could be the reason players play your server over a server with Heroes but a different set up. The same can be said about our skill system, it's unique to any of the other RPG plugins out there. Other plugins dub "Skills" as methods which you level up, this isn't the case with Heroes. Skills are things you can do which are unique to your class. Some of our favorite skills are Fireball, Jump and Port. This is what makes Heroes unique.

    What will you help me with?
    We'll help you with errors. That is where it ends. We will not be supporting your issues with your configuration files unless it's a bug within our code. Heroes is a big plugin and it's taken a few months to develop, we don't want to spend the next few months supporting silly issues rather than developing new and awesome features. Posting in this thread with an issue regarding a YML file will get you ignored. We'll be OK with helping you understand the configuration files, but we will not be fixing them for you.

    Where can I download it?
    You can download the latest recommended build here. You can download only the primary Heroes jar or the primary jar along with all the skills provided in a ZIP archive. Each skill inside the ZIP is enclosed in it's own jar, meaning you can pick and choose what skills you want your server to run. This is so you don't have un-necessary weight on your server.

      • Permission nodes to set what classes are obtainable for the default user
      • Custom class names
      • 'Parent | Child' optional relationship, (example HEALER -> CLERIC)
      • Configurable inventory restrictions
    • Permitted Skills
      • Skills in the base platform of Heroes
      • All permitted skills start with /skill <skillname>
      • Allows for developers to add in their own code for new skills
      • Adjustable through skills.yml or overwritten in classes.yml
    • Permission Skills
      • Based on the permission-node system, ability to set the level required to learn certain permission-nodes to have a highly configurable system.
      • Does not use the /skill prefix - Permission skills copy the original command exactly.
      • Also works with non-command required Permission nodes (ie. Firelord for special armor abilities for certain classes)
      • Example: herosneak.sneak can be granted to a "Rogue" class at level 10 - so when they reach level 10 - they can now use the ability /sneak
    • Binding Skills
      • Ability to '/bind <skillname>' to an item to right click and use that skill
      • Use '/bind' again to clear the bind and remove the right click ability
      • Currently only works for Permitted-Skills
    • Inventory Restriction
      • Armor & Weapon restrictions based on level and class
      • Configurable in classes.yml [DIAMOND]
    • Levels
      • /level - to show information about the level - comes with a nice interface to show you how much left to obtain the next level.
      • Set a mastery level - once achieved the user may switch to different classes and have their level/skills saved on the mastered class.
      • Configurable curves of exp to make lower levels easier and higher levels harder to get through
      • Optional Health gain per level
      • Configurable loss of exp (0.10 = 10% per death) by current level

      • SKILL - exp for using a skill
      • CRAFTING - exp for crafting an item
      • MINING - exp for mining blocks
      • KILLING - exp for slaying mobs
      • LOGGING - exp for jacking lumber

      • Allow bed healing for players to regenerate health in bed!

      • Server wide regen of mana - default is 5% mana regen every 5-6 seconds.

    This might Just be a Stupid question but is it possible to set a mastery level per class instead of and overall mastery level thats the same on all classes (default level 50)

    for example: When the default class reaches level 10 they can then choose their next class ( like job advancements )

    Nope, you can only have a overall mastery level. For example level 20, you must first reach level 20 as a _____ in order to "advance" into the next job, and repeat.

    Thanks for the Quick reply, Kinda disappointing though it would be great to set different mastery levels that way at each advancement the amount of levels needed to advance could increase etc (first at 10 second at 30 third at 60 forth at 100 etc)

    Well actually, you could make it all one class, however have them get the next "advancement" skills at that level.
    So if you set like IceBolt to level 40 for a Magician, level 40 would be their advancement. Does that make sense xP?

    as an addition to what 12119 and Hex discussed i would still like custom mastery levels for each class, so that i can set base-classes that master at 10 where you can choose a specialisation that masters at 50.

    could i possibly fake this by not using parent-child relationships but instead give the permissions based on the 'spec' classes as a skill at a certain lvl of the base-classes?

    i would however like to see this implemented anyway

    I have tried multiple times to configure the files myself but I keep getting errors.. :(

    his has those three, including A priest and a hunter. All of them have sub classes (specs I think they're called) YOu can take out what you dont want :D

    LOVE the new update. fantastic coding job. Figured I'd go ahead and report this, though: If you don't set up any permitted armor in the class fields, then it disables it (as it should) with the exception of diamond. My mages were running around in full plate, basically, LOL.

    Thanks alot!

    Mine is working perfectly now..
    I had some errors and just messed around with the files a little bit.
    Here 's what I did:
    - I used the files of this link: http://pastebin.com/DRUzbUNe
    - Changed the capital 'C' of Classes in the first line to a lower 'c'
    And now it's running perfectly.. :D

    Hi, I was wondering what the difference between duration and effectduration in skills.yml is; may I safely assume that one of the two is deprecated, or do both have current uses?
     
  20. I have a question: how do I add more sources to get experience from? I have for example Mo's Creatures installed on my server and I would like players to get xp from killing, say, Bears and Lions but also from crafting other modded items, which aren't in the game by default. So far I tried adding lines into experience.yml with name of the mob in different variations, but it doesn't seem to work in that way. I don't have any troubles with setting up classes, damage, items restrictions etc and whole plugin works very well, however I don't have any java knowledge to figure it out by myself. Is it even possible to add new xp sources from server mods?

    EDIT: I had a single character off in my classes.yml that I was able to fix and the plugin now works perfectly. The plugin is outstanding.

    Excellent, now working !
    Just some littles details :
    -If a monster die cause it burned to a fireball, you get no XP
    -Same if he fall with forcepush
    Imagine it is like that with a lot of skills.
    Also keep getting "too much wolves" when I try to spawn another one, but they all died :(

    @Kainzo would love to group casters together, physical dps, etc. Alphabetical is ok but not ideal. Time to donate. Support on this has been pretty good, and we have been using herochat and heroicdeath from day one. I call others to donate as well. Shower these men in shinies, you cheap bastards!

    hello, great plugin! however, i want ti so that once my members reach level 10 they will automatically become a warrior, is this possible and if so can you please tell me?

    Just make it a parent child relationship so that at level 10 (your max level) you specialize as a warrior.

    He didnt meant like automatically advance you, the player has to type
    /hero specs warrior to become a warrior once they master the Trainee path. Also in your config.yml file you should see the Max-Level: (Number) line. Thats gonna be the level the Vagrant must be in order to advance.

    You also might be missing some 'enters' in your yaml file.
