    Introduction to Heroes
    Heroes is a dynamic, flexible and highly configurable class, skill and experience system. Heroes itself is the hub of your players RPG experience, boasting classes, multi-tiered and fully fleshed out. Along with classes, Heroes offers your players a new style of PvP through our well-developed skill system and our weapon + armor restrictions. No longer will your mages have the ability to use diamond swords, your rogues will no longer sneak around in their heavy diamond tunics and most importantly, you can now hurl fireballs and stun your targets. The best part of this? It's your choice how your Heroes is set up, don't want a certain skill, that's fine, you can just remove the skill and be done with it! We're working towards making everything about Heroes configurable.

    What can I do with it?
    With Heroes, you can do almost anything you'd want to do on an RPG server. The main feature is our customizable tiered class system, which offers as much to the server owner as possible. Your Heroes could be totally unique to your server, it could be the reason players play your server over a server with Heroes but a different set up. The same can be said about our skill system, it's unique to any of the other RPG plugins out there. Other plugins dub "Skills" as methods which you level up, this isn't the case with Heroes. Skills are things you can do which are unique to your class. Some of our favorite skills are Fireball, Jump and Port. This is what makes Heroes unique.

    What will you help me with?
    We'll help you with errors. That is where it ends. We will not be supporting your issues with your configuration files unless it's a bug within our code. Heroes is a big plugin and it's taken a few months to develop, we don't want to spend the next few months supporting silly issues rather than developing new and awesome features. Posting in this thread with an issue regarding a YML file will get you ignored. We'll be OK with helping you understand the configuration files, but we will not be fixing them for you.

    Where can I download it?
    You can download the latest recommended build here. You can download only the primary Heroes jar or the primary jar along with all the skills provided in a ZIP archive. Each skill inside the ZIP is enclosed in it's own jar, meaning you can pick and choose what skills you want your server to run. This is so you don't have un-necessary weight on your server.

      • Based on the permission-node system, ability to set the level required to learn certain permission-nodes to have a highly configurable system.
      • Does not use the /skill prefix - Permission skills copy the original command exactly.
      • Also works with non-command required Permission nodes (ie. Firelord for special armor abilities for certain classes)
      • Example: herosneak.sneak can be granted to a "Rogue" class at level 10 - so when they reach level 10 - they can now use the ability /sneak
    • Binding Skills
      • Ability to '/bind <skillname>' to an item to right click and use that skill
      • Use '/bind' again to clear the bind and remove the right click ability
      • Currently only works for Permitted-Skills
    • Inventory Restriction
      • Armor & Weapon restrictions based on level and class
      • Configurable in classes.yml [DIAMOND]
    • Levels
      • /level - to show information about the level - comes with a nice interface to show you how much left to obtain the next level.
      • Set a mastery level - once achieved the user may switch to different classes and have their level/skills saved on the mastered class.
      • Configurable curves of exp to make lower levels easier and higher levels harder to get through
      • Optional Health gain per level
      • Configurable loss of exp (0.10 = 10% per death) by current level

    The Bug is players can change classes by changeing back to the defult class and then choose another class.

    Ok well i'm still getting my PlayerMoveEvent error and I have now removed all plugins, so it is definately not a conflict, I then tried readding permissions and bukkitcontrib and still the same problem, this could be something to do with my config idk but the problem is not a conflict.

    rename players folder in Heroes, to players.old
    Restart, see if it persists. A PLAYER is more than likely a CLASS that doesnt exist anymore.

    I know what the problem was now people had joined as vagrant the orginal class and then i've changed the names of the classes so they no longer apply

    First of all you need a class which can use the summon skill, next you need to be the right level to use it and then you need to type /skill summon <creature name>

    so to summon a friendly creeper :) you need to type

    - permission/sphereworld/playerlives/quantumConnectors/bLift/CreeperHeal/MapMarkers/HeroicDeath/Essential/Gravyard/Heroes(currently not working).

    I hope it was what you asked for, cause I'm not a pro admin ^^

    Hello all, after much mucking around with configuring this plugin I've found a few things and thought I'd share in case you're having issues CONFIGURING Heroes. I am by no means an expert, just thought this might help anyone looking for some information about the config files:


    experience.yml (open)

    These are the values for each "experience source" listed in the classes.yml. They are currently: KILLING, MINING, LOGGING, CRAFTING. It looks like "PVP" is the identifier for killing.player but I'd have to test that more. These are global values and don't affect per class gains.*

    *If you want to affect per class gains, check out classes.yml!

    These are the settings for each independent skill. By default, they include configuration values for most skills (and some that don't exist/aren't included at the time of writing)

    For example, if you want the skill Smite to do more damage, you'd change it here. Likewise, most skills have configurable values to suit your needs. As far as I can tell, all skills are configured globally meaning that skill power can not be configured per class**

    **This does not mean you can't configure mana cost, cooldown, and level requirements though! Check out classes.yml

    damages.yml (open)

    These are the global damage values. Very useful for making certain creatures harder. As far as I know: all combatant mobs have hp of 10 except ghasts and wolves. Keep that in mind when modifying these values. For example, a zombie with 9001 HP would be impossible to kill with default minecraft damage!*

    *However, you can change this globally here, and per class in classes.yml!

    creature-health <- Health of certain mobs
    creature-damage <- Damage a creature does to you! (Keep in mind, your default hp is 20)
    item-damage <- Default item damage! Overridden by damage values in classes.yml
    environmental-damage <- I need to do more testing on this. Obv. environmental damage but I'm not sure if fall_damage is capped at 5 or if it just changes the equation of (height*damage = damage dealt to player)

    The config.yml is where you change the global settings of Heroes.

    leveling.power: changes the experience curve (a number closer to 1 makes late game leveling harder than early, and vice-versa)
    leveling.maxExperience: As far as I know: the maximum amount of experience needed to get to max level. I do not think having maxExp=10 and maxLevel=50 means you can never reach maxLevel. Needs more testing.
    leveling.maxLevel: Same issue as above
    leveling.expLoss: Experience lost on death
    leveling.max-tracked-blocks: Not entirely sure yet. I'm assuming lower values decrease functionality/improve performance and vice-versa.
    leveling.block-tracking-duration: Same issue as above.
    leveling.resetExpOnClassChange: Determines whether or not you lose your current exp when you switch classes (paths)
    leveling.swapMasteryCost: Whether or not "specializing" (switching to child class at master level) costs money
    leveling.partyBonus: Not fully tested. Probably experience gains when sharing exp in the same party. (i.e. 2 partied players killing mob for 10 exp with 0 partyBonus would get 5 exp each. With .2 partyBonus, they'd get 6 exp each (10*.2 + 10)

    properties.iConomy: enable/disable iconomy
    properties.swapcost: cost of switching classes if leveling.swapMasteryCost is enabled
    properties.debug: enable/disable debugging
    properties.useDamageSystem: Needs testing. Assuming this disables damages.yml values from overriding default as well as item-damage values in classes.yml. It could, however, only affect one of them

    Now for the fun one!

    classes.yml is where you design all of your classes on your server. Each class can have a "specialization", weapon/armor restrictions, weapon damage, skills, experience source, exp gain rate, base health, and health gain per level.

    As far as I know, projectile-damage is not implemented yet so ignore those warning messages!

    I don't think there are mana gains at the moment. If you want a mage to have a better spell efficiency than a warrior, just reduce his mana cost, cooldowns, or level requirement.

    When a player starts out, he starts in default. Upon picking a class and leveling it to max level, he'll be able to choose a specialization. For example, by default: A vagrant becomes a warrior. The warrior levels to 50 and chooses Paladin OR Dark Knight. At level 50, the Paladin can not switch to Dark Knight (Think tree structure of classes. As bad as it sounds, think: MAPLESTORY)

    There seems to be a bug with the blink skill where it allows you to tp inside transcludent blocks (such as glass, leaves and half blocks) and in some cases you then can see trough the ground. When standing inside those blocks you won't suffocate, and you can walk around freely inside them (and walk back out).

    We have patched this to not happen any longer - old player data will stay or you can swap back on the next RB coming in.
    blink is being redone - I suggest using it with caution.

    In your classes.yml I believe the summon max means if the class can summon something like a cretae with the summon skill then they can only summon a max of 3 creatures at any one time.

    So the could only summon 3 zombies at once and not be able to summon any more until one of them had died.

    I have a new version of my recommended starting point config set this one has many many tweaks over the one in my other post. Such as the min tool is now a Ironpick for all classes heavily redifiend HP all round, much improved balance.

    The Goal of my setup was to reduce cooldowns on classes as lets face it Cooldowns are bloody OLDHAT, Provide classes with define and distinct choices to pick one over another.

    SOME EXAMPLES
    • Warrior may get use of all armor and all tools but he lacks any real offensive abilities, While the Paladin limits to Gold armor and tools his a tiny bit of a caster/tank. Both share 5x normal MC HP.
    • The Mage Class's on the other hand are limited to NO armor what so ever and Iron pickaxe is highest tool they have but possess some of most different set of abilities in the classes such as item less offensive abilities,Mana Shields, and invincibility, 3x the HP of normal MC.
    Each class has its +'s and -'s each different and each will make u think before choosing. Some of you are going to disgust the fact the diamond tools are not given to each and every class but this to encourage server roles and trading for those of you who enjoy that sort of thing.

    On the upside once "Heroes" releases its new version with the mining skills and stuff like that mage classes at least on my server will be losing the ability to any tools in favor of mana based mining.

    I hope you enjoy this and keep in mind its set out for future upgrades in mind and of course for users to use a fun starting point if nothing else.

    I have found out recently that if your are getting crashes such as those it is due to the fact that not enough ram is being dedicated to your player connections. If the server doesnt have enough it cuts off all access causing it to either restart or you having to restart it. This was the case for my server and from what i hear many others.
    *Note* yes this plugin may be adding onto the strain of your players connections.

    Some problems I have seen and some I know are still being worked on.

    1.) Summon is not working for me (I heard it was buggy), neither aggro mobs or animals can be summoned.
    2.) Summoned wolves via Wolf, once they are all killed and such, if you attempt to use the skill again it claims that you've summoned the max amount of wolves already.
    3.) Hellgate will warp your party members to the Nether, but not yourself.

    Just for your info, if your running a dedicated server there not going to tell you how much ram is being dedicated to your players connecting ;) if you have vps they give you the fine details. So google it if you wish and believe what i said, or deal with your crashes.

    I'm not sure exactly what to use to load the code and edit it. I've tried notepad, and notepad++ and so I'm here to ask for anyone's guidance on this as I am new to playing with these kinds of files. =P
