    MOVED TO DEV BUKKIT:
    News

    v2.4.2 Released - 9/24/2011
See the change log for details.
Everyone using PermissionsEx, Essentials, or anything else besides the regular permissions plugin or PermissionsBukkit should add or change this in their config under the Global section:
    LegacyPermissions: true
As of 2.4.0 the bPermissions plugin is supported directly.
As of 2.3.7 the PermissionsBukkit plugin is supported directly.
This support is not done through the new built in Permissions that bukkit provides, because there is no way to get a players group using the built in methods. However, by supporting this directly, you can now use the new permissions system while still keeping Residence, and not having to use old permissions at all anymore.

    Residence Signs (by KarnEdge)

NOTE: All Residence usage information has been moved to the wiki!

    About:
Residence is different from most protection plugins in that it aims for the users to be able to protect their own homes without having to bother the admin to do it. Residence has support for a variety of different protection types including preventing movement through areas, all of which can be configured by the land owner, and limited by the admin.
    Features:
    Features (open)

    • Allows players to define protected areas for themselves.
    • Individual permissions for each protected area. Land owner can give / deny permissions globally or to other specific players.
    • Different permissions per land include: move, build, use, pvp, fire, teleport, monsters spawn, damage prevention
    • Support for group permissions on protections.
    • Multi-World support.
    • Teleport system to allow users to teleport to residences.
    • Collision detection system to prevent residences from overlapping.
    • Limits to protected size can be set up by the admin.
    • Limits to number of protected areas per player can be set.
    • Two ways to select land including using the select command, or using a item to select 2 points.
    • Messages when you enter / leave a residence. (customizable)
    • Land "leasing" system which requires users to renew the lease on their protection every X number of days or loose the protection. (off by default, see config file)
    • Recursive Sub-zoning. Create zones within zones, and then zones within those zones...
    • TONS of configuration for admins. Customize every single flag that players can or cannot use in the config file, based on their permissions group.
    • (Optional) IConomy support, can set up cost per X number of blocks protected.
    • (Optional) Permissions support.
    • In-game help / commands descriptions

    • Fixed global "container" flag bug.
    • Fixed some NPE's related to explosions.
    • Added /resload command to load the save file after you make changes to it (UNSAFE, as it does not save residences first, and so you may loose new residences that were just created)
    v2.2
    • Added per residence Blacklist/Ignorelists that will allow you to specify certain block types to be ignored from residence protections, or unable to be placed in residences.
    • Added Server owned land, use /resadmin server <residence> to change the owner to "Server Owned"

    v2.1
    • BOSEconomy support.
    • Essentials Economy support.

    • /res check [residence] [flag] <player> command, this command evaluates if <player> is affected by [flag] at [residence]. You can leave off <player> and it will use your name.
    • Added a LeaseAutoRenew config option, that will cause leases to automatically renew so long as the player has the money to do so. Note that, if economy is disabled this doesn't work, as there would be no point to leases. Needs Testing! :)
    • Global FlagPermission config section, that allows you to give permission to use a flag to all groups, useful for the build / move / use flag that you almost definitely want everyone to have access to. Flags under each individual group will overrule these.
    • You can now set a limits on how deep or how high protections can go into the group, using each groups MinHeight and MaxHeight settings.
    • /res select sky, and /res select bedrock commands, these auto adjust to the above mentioned MinHeight and MaxHeight settings, so it won't select into a area you can't protect.
    • Rent system implemented.
    • Many bug fixes, including proper creeper explosion prevention now. Also, fixed some bugs when renaming residences.
    • New healing flag.
    • The monsters flag has been split up into "animals" and "monsters" now.

Can someoney explain to me whats the difference between leasing and renting?

  3. Offline

    e_zach

leasing is to the server, whereas renting is between players.
thats the main diff as far as i know (i.e. leasing players don't permanently own land, once the lease expires it goes back to the server.)
and u can rent out an area (like a base or something) to another player and you gain income. cool huh?

admin's override this functionality (i.e. create subzones at will) and admin's also have the ability to re-asign a property to another player (/resadmin setowner) so an admin could set up all the areas and either sell them, or just assign them to players. i don't believe there is a flag you can set to just allow players to create subzones within another player's area
EDIT: feel free to correct me DanJames
    EDIT2: try the subzone: flag http://residencebukkitmod.wikispaces.com/Creating, protecting and modifying a seclection#Flag (i feel dumb... it's 1am :( )

I have 2 areas (for example):
    1. residence: MineTown and areaID: main; Coordinates: 0, 0, 0 - 9, 3, 9
    2. residence: ExtTown and areaID: main; Coordinates 9, 0, 0 - 12, 3, 6
I not understand. How make big one 'MineTown' (add 'ExtTown' in 'MineTown')?

have you looked into: /res area <add/remove> <residence> <areaID> - Add or remove areas to the residence. These can overlap with areas of the same residence.

    havn't tried the command myself.

This might have been asked already but I have not seen what I read through. I could have missed it.
I have noticed something that happens that actually makes our lives a bit tougher using this plugin.

When a user makes a zone that user(owner) gets all the flags that has been set in for owners in the configuration file.
However if that user wishes to add a member to his area that member will not receive the same flags as the owner or there is no place to set up a mask of flags that members should get. This results a admin or owner having to type many commands to allow a member to have the required flags that are needed to assist in building in a protected region.

Any chance we could have a command that would allow users/admin to have a mask flag configuration that would be connected to a command that would give members the required flag permissions?

    e_zach

agreed, that would be nice something like /res adduser NAME
although you would have to then have different masks per group per residence which is getting a bit icky. (users/admin per residence customization)
or am i way off track?

I know about this command, but how it works?!?

I have three problems, hopefully it's something in my config and not a bug:

    1. Another player's residence has -use and -container, but I can still look inside his chests (small and large) and take stuff out or put stuff in. It says the "You don't have container access for this Residence" message, but I can use their chests anyway.
    * When doing /res info on his residence, it shows "Your Flags: none". No player-specific flags for me. No Group flags specified. Other Flags shows "-build -container -use" for the residence.
    * I am not a Residence Admin (says so in /res limits)
    * I am a server OP (but we tried while I was de-op'd also, same result).
    * This DID temporarily work at one point but only when I had something in my hand lol. (Empty hand = can look in chest -- I can't reproduce that behavior anymore though)

    2. I get "area size not within your allowed limits" messages when I shouldn't. I set these max values (and then restarted server, and verified that i see the 1000's show up in /res limits):

    # The maximum number of blocks a Residence can be, East to West (X).
    MaxEastWest: 1000
    # The maximum number of blocks a Residence can be, North to South (Z).
    MaxNorthSouth: 1000
    # The lowest altitude this group is allowed to protect.
    MinHeight: 0
    # The highest altitude this group is allowed to protect.
    MaxHeight: 127

...but it seems the height of the selection cuboid has an impact on generating the "Area size is not within your allowed limits" message. For example:

I first made a selection of a large-ish area with a height of 0 (zero) and got the following message: "Not enough money for new residence area, you need: 1253."

Then I made it a height of 1, and again got the same message, but the amount of money needed doubled.

Finally, I did /res select vert (and in my case, this makes the height 128), and instead of saying I don't have enough money, it says: "Area size not within your allowed limits."

    3. Height of the residence has an impact on how much it costs (as shown in #2). Is there a way to configure that all residences have an implicit "/res select vert" and that the cost is purely based on the two-dimensional X/Z area size?

Thanks and good job with the plug-in! :)

about /res tp <place>, how can I set the point in the place when the people spawn after the teleport?
    thx

    e_zach

i don't believe so, you can only set individuals permissions (allow them to build use etc)
    '/res tpset' it's in the /res ? :)
im honestly not sure, i haven't tried it. sorry i couldn't be of more help.

Oh, damn, well can I request that you make it so that Residences can have multiple owners?

Multiple owners would be nice and possibly a copy flags command
Possibly a /res addowner playername option to have multiple owners
and also a /res copy flags playername ; /res copy flags playername1 playername2 to copy flags from self/other player

    hey there,
would just like to report an issue with buckets (if it hasn't been already brought up)
im the admin on my server so i have OP powers and also all permissions.
just discovered that i am unable to place/remove water (haven't tried lava) within another person's residence and im getting 'You don't have permission to use buckets here'
seems the bucket protection's a tad overzealous :p
Im on residence 2.1.4 so not sure if this has been fixed with the 2.2 update.
p.s. i can't update or check if there's any trackbacks atm, as im at home away from the server, if there's anything i'll post details tomorow.
EDIT: im running #818 and permissions 3.1.1

Is it intended that creepers don't do any damage to players anymore in residences with -creeper? I kinda liked the "only entity damage" version more. Maybe bring it back with some config-entry? :(

    Problem:

I use Permissions 3.1.4 with Residence 2.2. I have given the permissions residence.create to group "Builders" (group which is the lowest group except from Default users). When they try to create they're own Residence they get the message "Area size not within your allowed limits". This is weird to me since the only thing I changed in the config file is to switch from a WoodAxe to a GoldenAxe to use as selection tool.

Could anyone assist me on this on?

i personally hated that, so long as it's not that behavior by default :p (if implimented)
someone had the same issue a few pages back, it was to to with the up/down limits i.e /res select vert
see if you can fix it the same way they did

I'm sure I can use this fine. I'm always updated to the latest Residence dev build, but I may be wrong about bucket placements. I don't place buckets very often :p
So as an admin (- '*') you can't place buckets in other peoples residence? I'll give this a test later and see :)

Hi, don't know if this has already been suggested, but I couldn't see that it has already been added to Residence, or been suggested, but is it possible to add a 'Heal' flag? So when the person is in that certain residence, they get healed. People on my server want to be able to create a hospital with this flag. Thanks. :)

    e_zach

the explosions flag was removed after 2.0, there is now tnt and creeper flags
there's a 'healing' flag in the wiki which is mentioned, see if that works :)
if one of the directions between the points is zero it will throw that error. e.g. you select a square on a flat area. "/res select vert" will select from bedrock to the sky.
i use subzones. the town on our server is basically one large area, where i placed road, and then i subzoned off lots within it, which i then placed on the market for players to buy. So the main area is New_Town and the lots people can buy are New_Town.1, New_Town.2, etc.
