    MOVED TO DEV BUKKIT:
    News

    v2.4.2 Released - 9/24/2011
See the change log for details.
Everyone using PermissionsEx, Essentials, or anything else besides the regular permissions plugin or PermissionsBukkit should add or change this in their config under the Global section:
    LegacyPermissions: true
As of 2.4.0 the bPermissions plugin is supported directly.
As of 2.3.7 the PermissionsBukkit plugin is supported directly.
This support is not done through the new built in Permissions that bukkit provides, because there is no way to get a players group using the built in methods. However, by supporting this directly, you can now use the new permissions system while still keeping Residence, and not having to use old permissions at all anymore.

    Residence Signs (by KarnEdge)

NOTE: All Residence usage information has been moved to the wiki!

    About:
Residence is different from most protection plugins in that it aims for the users to be able to protect their own homes without having to bother the admin to do it. Residence has support for a variety of different protection types including preventing movement through areas, all of which can be configured by the land owner, and limited by the admin.
    Features:
    Features (open)

    • Allows players to define protected areas for themselves.
    • Individual permissions for each protected area. Land owner can give / deny permissions globally or to other specific players.
    • Different permissions per land include: move, build, use, pvp, fire, teleport, monsters spawn, damage prevention
    • Support for group permissions on protections.
    • Multi-World support.
    • Teleport system to allow users to teleport to residences.
    • Collision detection system to prevent residences from overlapping.
    • Limits to protected size can be set up by the admin.
    • Limits to number of protected areas per player can be set.
    • Two ways to select land including using the select command, or using a item to select 2 points.
    • Messages when you enter / leave a residence. (customizable)
    • Land "leasing" system which requires users to renew the lease on their protection every X number of days or loose the protection. (off by default, see config file)
    • Recursive Sub-zoning. Create zones within zones, and then zones within those zones...
    • TONS of configuration for admins. Customize every single flag that players can or cannot use in the config file, based on their permissions group.
    • (Optional) IConomy support, can set up cost per X number of blocks protected.
    • (Optional) Permissions support.
    • In-game help / commands descriptions

    • Fixed global "container" flag bug.
    • Fixed some NPE's related to explosions.
    • Added /resload command to load the save file after you make changes to it (UNSAFE, as it does not save residences first, and so you may loose new residences that were just created)

    • BOSEconomy support.
    • Essentials Economy support.

    • /res check [residence] [flag] <player> command, this command evaluates if <player> is affected by [flag] at [residence]. You can leave off <player> and it will use your name.
    • Added a LeaseAutoRenew config option, that will cause leases to automatically renew so long as the player has the money to do so. Note that, if economy is disabled this doesn't work, as there would be no point to leases. Needs Testing! :)
    • Global FlagPermission config section, that allows you to give permission to use a flag to all groups, useful for the build / move / use flag that you almost definitely want everyone to have access to. Flags under each individual group will overrule these.
    • You can now set a limits on how deep or how high protections can go into the group, using each groups MinHeight and MaxHeight settings.
    • /res select sky, and /res select bedrock commands, these auto adjust to the above mentioned MinHeight and MaxHeight settings, so it won't select into a area you can't protect.
    • Rent system implemented.
    • Many bug fixes, including proper creeper explosion prevention now. Also, fixed some bugs when renaming residences.
    • New healing flag.
    • The monsters flag has been split up into "animals" and "monsters" now.

What about if there was a section in the config like the 'CreatorDefaults' but for 'WhenRenting'
So eg under the group default:

    WhenRenting:
    build: false
    use: true
    container: true

Or do you mean more options as in per rentable residence options.
I don't know what Bekvon has planned on this but maybe that would be a possibility.

    Yes, thank you.
Does everyone need to be in a gruop?
I haven't added myself to any group yet, and it doesn't charge me.

If you have the residence.admin node in your groups permission, then you bypass all restrictions.
However if you don't have that, then you can either add yourself to the default group (which you probably do not wan to do) OR
You can copy the default group set-up in residence, paste it below and change it to admins (or the group name your in on permissions).
Then just change these settings as you want.
    Does that make sense?
    -DanJames

Lol no probs. I thought about this a while back so I thought I'd just put it out there :p

In this bit where it says Default, If your using permissions, change that to whatever your default group is in permissions. If your default group IS default, then this will automatically apply to your basic players on join.
    Hope that helps,

Another question, does the pvp flag override the global pvp setting for the server?

  9. Offline

    e_zach

my guess is if the server pvp flag is off, then setting pvp to true on a residence won't have an effect. i could be wrong though..

  10. Offline

    Felonu

Either way you could set the global flag for residence false and then set certain areas true and turn the server flag to true... that would make the world non pvp except where designated

The wand doesn't work for me on 2.2 either, and neither does /res select.
    How do I select a second point with /res select [x] [y] [z]
It only selects the first coordinate.

Also, would upgrading bukkit to a higher build number maybe help? I'm still having problems with WorldEdit too.

If you are allowed to set the flag in your residence you should be able to do:
    /res pset [player] build true

I haven't looking into the repeat bit yet, however you can leave it out and people can rent. I'm not sure what happens if their rent runs out though. I'll ask Bekvon about this and update the wiki tomorrow or tuesday :)

Hmm I'm not 100% sure about that, but i think this issue also occur in the 1.5_2 server version of bukkit.
NEW : Ok i just tried residence v2.2 with bukkit #818 and the bug with the half block is different. I can't place a half block on a half block but when I did, the half block under change type (my wood half block change for a stone half block).

I found something else. Painting are not protected in a protected zone. You can add or remove painting (bukkit build #818).
NEW : Ok tried it with v2.2 and it's the same.

These 2 issues where found in Residence v.2.14. i will try 2.2 very soon :).

Thx again for your great plugin!

Perhaps I'm missing something obvious, but when major updates happen like 1.5, 1.6 etc, I essentially go through all my mods to see if they're working in the new version. But when there is no note of things being good/bad for the latest version, I'm not sure if that's "everything's good, nothing to report" or what.

So, as a request, it would be great if we could get a "CraftBukkit XX approved" sort of thing in your descrition when it's known to be running that version well. Thanks! Residence is one of my critical mods, and having seen nothing in my skimming through things about 1.6 I assume it's "nothing to report" and will work just fine. *crosses fingers*

Edit: btw I love the mod, it's awesome and a core element to our city! thanks! One improvement would be perhaps flagging the for sale zones so they're more noticeable when you enter them, and instructing people how to buy them.

@Pawel - there is a setting in your config.yml for max east/west and max north/south dimensions for player made residences. You merely need to expand this size limitation. The reason you do not have a problem yourself is because this limitation does not apply to admins.

Hello! Just started using this incredible plugin after poking around the documentation for a few weeks. On the wiki I noticed "/res subzone <ResidenceName> [SubZoneName] - create a subzone in your residence. You must be the owner to do this." and I was wondering if there was a way anyone could suggest that allows a player group to create subzones within a residence owned by another person. I am aware I can probably do something like create a residence and my own subzones within it, and then change ownership of the subzones to the desired player, but I would was wondering if there was a feature that simply allowed a residence to be open to public subzone creation (per group).

The reason I want to do this is because our PvP server has a square sanctuary area where PvP is disabled, and I want all players able to create subzones within the massive 4 sq. km PvP=false residence instead of being forced to create residences outside of the massive one. Thanks in advance.
