MC Server GUI .6.10 - A GUI wrapper for your server (w/ backup functionality):

    Version: v.6.10

This is a wrapper for your minecraft server that, at it's base, provides a Graphical User Interface. It also has world and server.log backup functionality. I made this with Autohotkey. It is likely only compatible with Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7.

SUPER IMPORTANT: I just realized I broke Automatic Backups since version .6.2. PLEASE upgrade to .6.7+ as it fixes this issue.

    News 5/17/11

    Change Log (open)

    Version .6.10
    • Removed Xms memory field and replaced with Xincgc checkbox. You can still use Xms if you'd like, you just have to add it in the extra arguments box.
    Version .6.9
    • Alt-Tab works more reliably while looking at the GUI
    • Added ctrl-s hotkey for "say" mode
    • Made slight modification to the way the console output scrolls
    Version .6.8
    • Rewrote how the GUI processes server.log, hopefuly making it more reliable and use less resources
    • Added error checking to this process so that if there's any issues reading it, it will tell you
    Version .6.7 - HOTFIX
    • Automatic backups now work again!
    Version .6.6
    • Added some very specific debug mode values to fight this zero-console output issue
    • Added option to enable/disable minimize to tray
    • Added more checks for the GUI closing (other than the X button) so that it can shut down the server properly
    • Removed error message about GetGUIThreadInfo()
    • Made one tiny change to the startup process that may increase reliability
    Version .6.5
    • Added a new text box to show the phases of the start up process (instead of displaying in the console output), allowing for:
    • Modified the startup process. It will now start displaying console output much sooner
    • Fixed issue where auto-restarts made the GUI think Java was crashing
    • Replaced Warn Restart button with Warn Stop button as this would seem to be more useful
    • Renamed Immediate Restart button to just Restart
    • Added Reload button to send the reload command for you
    • Made Minimize to Tray much more reliable
    Version .6.4 - HOTFIX
    • Fix for restart times not updating correctly while the server is running
    Version .6.3
    • Player list should no longer display duplicate players
    • Fixed bug where Next Restart time would reset to the next restart time shortly after saying it was commencing the first one
    • Possibly fixed a bug that would cause restarts (and therefore backups) to be skipped
    • Added Debug Mode
    • Fixed issue where console would remain blank on server start
    • Now minimizes to the system tray (Doesn't seem to work right)
    • System tray icon's tooltip shows server status and if UP, online player count
    • Possibly fixed bug where server up time would stop displaying
    • Fixed issue where sometimes the GUI would erroneously think that there was a Java error upon starting the server
    • Removed Update Rate setting as it is no longer used
    • The console output should resume scrolling normally when you're not focused on it (such as selecting text within it)
    • Should now detect players being kicked by alternate means
    Full Change Log

    Known Bugs (open)

    • Slight delay (2-seconds?) before restarts commence
    • Players with nick names will be dropped from the list ocassionally

If you have any issues please read the following frequently asked questions section!
    FAQ (open)
    FAQ (open)

    • Q: There is an error starting Java when I start the server.
    • A: First, instead of using java.exe on the GUI Config page, browse for this file on your computer. Failing that, if you're trying to set the memory above 1024M(1G) you may need to select a 64 bit java.exe
    • Q: What do the options do on the Server Config tab do?
    • A: Take a look at this.

Love my GUI? Feel free to donate! :)

    Thanks to:
Geotraildark for some nice initial screenshots, nickrev for a snazzy icon, and the rest of you for all the support!

Hmm, now that I think about it, it may be possible by disabling level saving first, then backing up, then re-enabling level saving, as I believe that is how those plugins achieve it. I will likely add this in, but it will possibly be a little while as it will require rewriting the whole process of backing up.

    @mdt7734 @BigRenegade @PhantomGamers
Please let me know if you still end up with a blank output in .6.5 (when starting the server)

Still no display for Player names or console output.

However, your minimize to tray works fine now. Also, the reload button is fine. I'm not sure what is causing the issue with main windows not displaying text. Everything worked fine for me up until ver 6.3, then I began having the text output problem.

EDIT: Upon taking a closer look when I stop the server, it displays the whole log server from start up to shut down. It is simply not displaying it initially upon start up.

WHAT THE SHIT! It looks like it's says missingtex. I can assure you no where in my GUI does it output "missingtex" and also, there's not earthly reason why my GUI would be the cause of this otherwise.

    @dumptruckman

Could it be that at some point in your gui files you have the line 'missing text' if the necessary info was not entered?
If that is the case it might be carrying over into the game, though I myself have not had that issue.

Could you please try this version? Before you run it, edit guiconfig.ini and change debugmode to 1. When you run it, you'll see the debug box. When you start your server, CheckLogChanges() should have a number next it and it should raise contantly. Also, LogSize Difference should flash a number other than 0 any time something is added to the log. Please tell me if it is doing these things.

I'm asking you to do this because I cannot reproduce the blank console bug myself.

    @mickey32111
The only instance of the word missing in my code is "[GUI] Server Jar is invalid or missing!"

@mickey32111 out of curiousty, can you pastebin your guiconfig.ini?

Argh! It's so crazy that many people are having this issue, yet I cannot reproduce it to fix it! >.<

    @BigRenegade
Soo... I think I know what's going on now. If you check Windows Task Manager, I bet the java for your server is still running. For some reason, the GUI probably was closed without being able to end Java. I added an additional check for this but it's not perfect. If you "End Process" on the GUI, it will not allow the GUI to stop the server gracefully.

Could you add an option to turn of minimizing to tray? I think it's pretty annoying..

I think the issue, in cases where people had no console output (or player list), was that the GUI somehow got closed without it being able to close Java as well.. So that would leave the server still running invisibly. When that is happening, it could do some funny things when you boot up the GUI again and try to start the server.

    @Walnoot
Added minimize to tray option checkbox in .6.6 (on the GUI Config tab)

I've been using this plugin for only a day now and already I'm in love.

The only thing I see wrong is the console output. I know lots of people have been having this issue, but mine isn't completely blank.
When I start it up I get this:
(bunch of server starting type of stuff)
2011-05-05 17:05:26 [INFO] Done (0.096s)! For help, type "help" or "?"
From there, I will get nothing else until I shut down the server, in which case I get everything that happened. I did indeed check the processes running, and there was nothing running related to Java. Also, I am running GUI 6.7.
    Hope this helps!

I just noticed something. If you turn off the server by clicking "Stop Server" then "Start Server", it becomes a blank screen. Good luck trying to solve the puzzle! ;)

ACTUALLY, maybe. I just found out about IronAHK. It's a port of Autohotkey that uses .net. Which means it's cross-platform capable! I'm gonna attempt to port it immediately.

Heh, don't get your hopes up. IronAHK is apparently still in it's infancy. I'm having a hard time just getting started on getting it ported.

I think its a great idea but it seems that every time i load the server with the gui, it makes the game lag to living hell as when i start it via .bat it works fine.

Under Network Information, you have the units in KB/s, I think this should be Kb/s. The values displayed seem to be in kilobits (Kb).

When starting through the GUI, I can't set the RAM-usage above 1300M, I just keep getting "Java terminated unexpectedly" without any more information.
However, in the .BAT setup I use ( with the exact same settings ) I can startup without problems using 4GB of my 6GB system.
So the GUI is unusable for me :(

    dumptruckman

@Azukay haha, I'll double check that.

You must select the 64 bit java executable in the GUI config. Or just paste the java path you have indicated in your .bat file

I'm seeing something peculiar on my Win 7 64-bit server. The issue lies in the bandwidth readout. It isn't reading 'just' the readout of the server (not that it's accurate as is for some reason) it is also adding upload bandwidth for no reason whatsoever. Even with the server offline task manager is reporting on average an extra 10k/sec upload on top of the 5-7k/sec through Remote Desktop. This is with it nearly out of the way (does not send data while minimized) and nothing else except task manager showing. Is there a reason the GUI is sending out data while no server is running?

Secondly, I think it's been stated here somewhere but the readout is about 20-35KB/sec off of actual. Unless it's reading some kind of overhead.

Since the GUI itself is another program it does utilize the same cpu and memory as the server. It is possible under certain conditions this could be causing your trouble. Other things to check though, would be your server arguments.. What did you have in your .bat file before using this? What options are you using on my GUI's server config? Have you changed the RAM settings on the GUI? Post your guiconfig.ini on pastebin if you would please.

First, my GUI does not send or receive any kind of data whatsoever. Are you running other program on the computer that use bandwidth?

To this, It's possible I've done some erroneous math. What I have done, to obtain this data, is run netstat in the background and had it output the data that would normal be displayed in the console into a file. I have a loop running every 1000ms to compare this data to the previous data and that is the result I display.
It's also possible that the timing for how netstat retrieves this data (due to when my GUI triggers it) and how the windows task manager does is different.
