    MOVED TO DEV BUKKIT:
    [IMG]
    News

    v2.4.2 Released - 9/24/2011
    See the change log for details.
    Everyone using PermissionsEx, Essentials, or anything else besides the regular permissions plugin or PermissionsBukkit should add or change this in their config under the Global section:
    LegacyPermissions: true
    As of 2.4.0 the bPermissions plugin is supported directly.
    As of 2.3.7 the PermissionsBukkit plugin is supported directly.
    This support is not done through the new built in Permissions that bukkit provides, because there is no way to get a players group using the built in methods. However, by supporting this directly, you can now use the new permissions system while still keeping Residence, and not having to use old permissions at all anymore.

    Residence Signs (by KarnEdge)

    NOTE: All Residence usage information has been moved to the wiki!

    About:
    Residence is different from most protection plugins in that it aims for the users to be able to protect their own homes without having to bother the admin to do it. Residence has support for a variety of different protection types including preventing movement through areas, all of which can be configured by the land owner, and limited by the admin.
    Features:
    Features (open)

    • Allows players to define protected areas for themselves.
    • Individual permissions for each protected area. Land owner can give / deny permissions globally or to other specific players.
    • Different permissions per land include: move, build, use, pvp, fire, teleport, monsters spawn, damage prevention
    • Support for group permissions on protections.
    • Multi-World support.
    • Teleport system to allow users to teleport to residences.
    • Collision detection system to prevent residences from overlapping.
    • Limits to protected size can be set up by the admin.
    • Limits to number of protected areas per player can be set.
    • Two ways to select land including using the select command, or using a item to select 2 points.
    • Messages when you enter / leave a residence. (customizable)
    • Land "leasing" system which requires users to renew the lease on their protection every X number of days or loose the protection. (off by default, see config file)
    • Recursive Sub-zoning. Create zones within zones, and then zones within those zones...
    • TONS of configuration for admins. Customize every single flag that players can or cannot use in the config file, based on their permissions group.
    • (Optional) IConomy support, can set up cost per X number of blocks protected.
    • (Optional) Permissions support.
    • In-game help / commands descriptions

    • Fixed bug related to default group option in the config.
    • Fixed global "container" flag bug.
    • Fixed some NPE's related to explosions.
    • Added /resload command to load the save file after you make changes to it (UNSAFE, as it does not save residences first, and so you may loose new residences that were just created)
    v2.2
    • Added per residence Blacklist/Ignorelists that will allow you to specify certain block types to be ignored from residence protections, or unable to be placed in residences.
    • Added Server owned land, use /resadmin server <residence> to change the owner to "Server Owned"

    • BOSEconomy support.
    • Essentials Economy support.

    • /res check [residence] [flag] <player> command, this command evaluates if <player> is affected by [flag] at [residence]. You can leave off <player> and it will use your name.
    • Added a LeaseAutoRenew config option, that will cause leases to automatically renew so long as the player has the money to do so. Note that, if economy is disabled this doesn't work, as there would be no point to leases. Needs Testing! :)
    • Global FlagPermission config section, that allows you to give permission to use a flag to all groups, useful for the build / move / use flag that you almost definitely want everyone to have access to. Flags under each individual group will overrule these.
    • You can now set a limits on how deep or how high protections can go into the group, using each groups MinHeight and MaxHeight settings.
    • /res select sky, and /res select bedrock commands, these auto adjust to the above mentioned MinHeight and MaxHeight settings, so it won't select into a area you can't protect.
    • Rent system implemented.
    • Many bug fixes, including proper creeper explosion prevention now. Also, fixed some bugs when renaming residences.
    • New healing flag.
    • The monsters flag has been split up into "animals" and "monsters" now.
    • New Developer API, including custom Bukkit events.

    Umm, I'm not having this error, but I think I had a problem with this a few builds back. Are you definitely using the latest build?

    Can you screen shot your config file where you set the selection tool please :)

    Hm weird, sad to hear it's an uncommon error.

    A paste of the first fe lines of the config:

    Code:
    #These are Global Settings for Residence.
    Global:
        # Wooden Axe is the default selection tool for Residence.
        # You can change it to another item ID listed here: http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Data_values
        SelectionToolId: 274
        # This determins which tool you can use to see info on residences, default is String.
        # Simply equip this tool and hit a location inside the residence and it will display the info for it.
        InfoToolId: 286
       # The interval, in milliseconds, between movement checks.
       # Reducing this will increase the load on the server.
       # Increasing this will allow players to move further in movement restricted zones before they are teleported out.
        MoveCheckInterval: 500
    The InfoTool works perfect, only the SelectionTool doesnt. All indentations are the same and yaml checked.

    Other plugins that could interfere (but none has the same Tool set for anything):

    WorldGuard, BigBrother, BigBrother, CraftBook, WorldEdit

    Any ideas?

    Any chance this will be working well with 733 any time soon? I'm dying to get upgraded to 1.5 right now and the majority of the players on my server have (I assume) moved onto bigger and better things since we are still rocking 1.4. I have tried testing it on my test server and it didn't even want to load right, threw up a mess of console errors ( I can post them if you would like ). Thanks!

    Try the build I just uploaded, I made a small tweak that I think should hopefully fix it for you :)

    I've had no trouble with it under 733, I just tested and everything works fine, at least for the 2.0 release.

    Fantastic - works!

    Now all that is left to make me happy (and maybe others :D) is the option to restrict the amount of creatable residences on a per-world basis. And what would make me even more happy (but probably simply impossible) is that it marks the outlines of a created residence with a block type of your choosing (e.g. fence or wool), so the moment you do /res create <id> it puts a block onto each groundblock of that selected residence. This way it is easier to make multiple residences in the wilderness, where it can be a pain in the a** to set them up next to each other, as you can so easily get the 'Overlapping residences' warning.

    Great work!

    Fire spread is not being prevented globally or in residences. Latest alpha build, 733.
    Ignite prevention is working.

    Ok thanks Bekvon. I will download 2.0 and give it a whirl. BTW does anyone know if LWC is currently working with build 733?

    I've been meaning to ask, will this plugin work with Towny?

    This is throwing up a rediculous amount of errors right now, spamming my log file and console. Within 3 minutes i had over a 1 MB log. This is the error being repeated... I am on build 733 btw using 2.0.

    I'm probably clueless about this and have no idea what I'm talking about, but it looks like the error has something to do with checking permissions. Have you updated Permissions to the latest version? I know the Permissions config file changed formatting in one of the last versions, maybe that's what's causing the error?

    Just throwing out ideas here.

    You are totally on spot, this is an issue with your Permissions file and not the Residence plugin.

    Check the stack: "at com.bekvon.bukkit.residence.permissions.PermissionManager.getGroupNameByPlayer(PermissionManager.java:81)"

    -> Seems something is off with your set up groups, make sure the Default group in the Residence config.yml (if using 2.0+) coincides with your default group in the permissions.yml, and check the usual Permissions settings / YAML syntax.

    Yea well, i use it for the same purpose. I got a City-Residence and sell Plots from this. But if i want, say, enable PVP in the whole city (or monsters or anything else) i have to change every residence one-by-one. It would be easier if i just leave the flag blank on every user-owned residence and change the flag on the parent-zone. I would really love the config option! :)

    Is it planned to simplify the buy/sell options for residences?

    Can someone explain to me how to use the /res select x y z function? I dont seem to understand it. Do i select one corner with the tool and the other with x y z? or do i stand in the middle of the area i want to restrict and type in cords? can someone type out how it should look like when you type if out, thank you :)

    Oh yea I havn't made many group changes to the 2.0 Residence config yet, that's gotta be it. I'll check that out now, thanks.

    Nelien

    You can use the /res select x y z tool OR the wand tool, not both.

    If you use the /res select x y z command what you're selecting is a box, with you in the centre, extending x-blocks north, x-blocks south, y-blocks up to the sky, y-blocks down towards bedrock, z-blocks west and z-blocks east.

    So, for example, if you're standing on a block and do /res select 4 4 4 the resulting rectangle (cube) will be 9x9x9 with the block you were standing on as the dead centre. It's 9x9x9 since it expanded 4 blocks in all directions plus the one you're standing on.

    I hope it makes sense, it's hard to explain :).

    With the tool you have to select two corners of the box, but it has to be the two complete opposites, that is, not the corners on the same face. Think about it, you have to create a three dimensional box with only two points. There's only one way to do it.

    Do you have Single Player commands installed? I had the same problem, but SPC can cause issues(the first version for SMP anyway) Update your mod and it should work or just delete it / make a copy of your bin then update.

    oh! ok, thanks. i get it now. I've been doing the thing with the tool, but i kept thinking that expanding it to only the sky should be easier then climbing a stack of blocks until the end of sky XD. thank you.

    Yep it seems I had permissions errors alright. Basically I had only the Default group (Guests on my server) set to the Residence config. What I did to quickly fix it up is just copy paste that group over and over and rename each instance for every group on my server. When I have more time I will probably go in and custom edit each and every group. It's just a hassle because every time Bekvon updates Residence he completely changes and breaks the config files lol.

    Small price to pay for such an excellent FREE mod I suppose : )

    Also it turns out my users can't edit the PVP flag. Says it's invalid. I'm not getting any errors in the console.
    I have 3 worlds - 2 normal, 1 nether.

    @bekvon : I'm wondering, are the MaxEastWest:, MaxNorthSouth:, MaxUpDown: and MaxResidences: settings implemented? I'm not getting them to be checked at all, no matter the configuration I use. I also took the liberty of sneak-peaking on the code and it looks to me like you're not even checking for it (although my Java skills are very limited).

    By just looking at the code it would seem that you check for this when transferring a residence to another player:
    ResidenceManager.java lines:404-416 (open)
    Code:
            if (getOwnedZoneCount(giveplayer.getName()) >= g.getMaxZones() && !admin) {
                reqPlayer.sendMessage("Target player already owns the maximum number of residences allowed.");
                return;
            }
            if(!admin)
            {
                for (CuboidArea area : areas) {
                    if (!g.inLimits(area)) {
                        reqPlayer.sendMessage("Cannot give residence to target player, because a area is outside the target players limits.");
                        return;
                    }
                }
            }
    However, when you create a residence (addResidence) or add an area to it, you don't seem to check for this at all.

    Is this intentional? Or simply an unfinished feature. Get's kind of confusing when it's there in the config but isn't actually implemented.

    This is definitely checked... I have been stopped from creating a number of times because I was over max size... Make sure you don't have the line in the config:
    # Whether or not to ignore the Residence size/count limits when buying a residence.
    IgnoreLimits: false

    set as true, and also if you are op it ignores max size.

    any way to select polygons?
    also an animals flag would be great

    He doesnt 'break' the files, he advances them to use new features, and I rather sit down to change configs instead of not having features. He also specifically mentioned that the config changes from 1.0 -> 2.0.

    So dont say you weren't warned ;)

    @bekvon Any news on per-world max residences and a command to mark residence borders with blocks?

    This is very strange. In what version of Residence have you been stopped? I've tried with both with the IgnoreLimits: true and false, and no, I'm not an OP nor do I have residence.admin permissions. Besides, IgnoreLimits is supposed to only ignore the limits when buying a pre-made residence, not when creating one (at least according to the comments on the config).

  31. Can we get it so that leases can be automatically renewed if the player has enough cash.
    This could be toggled by a command /res lease autorenew.
    autorenew on by default could be an option in the config file.
