google search "what is my ip" and google will give your external ip address in bold at the top. Your friends should be able to connect to your server with this ip, and then whatever port you are using such as 00.00.000.00:25565

Do you have port 25564 forwarded with both TCP/UDP and it goes to your computers local ip address?

You can use your external ip if you are hosting the server on your network

  10. Have you Portforwarded through your router? Or are you just setting the port in the properties file?

it is different foe every router and some service providers do not allow it. Refer to this:

If you want some help with portforwarding, i can help you via teamviewer. Only demanding is that your OS is in english and its possible to portforward in your router

That's not exactly true if you take into consideration UPnP and NAT-P automatic port forwarding that many routers support. You can use this tool (Java) or this (Mac native) on your computer to set up port forwarding without ever accessing your router page manually.

kungfuko you should defiantly not change the port in server.properties, this makes it impossible for him to connect with the original ip. Change it from 25564 back to 25565 because it is the default minecraft port. Also it might be difficult to help him porforward considering you have to know his username and password for his router. I personally would not let you port forward my router because you could potentially purposely screw something up on my router to screw me over. I would try and do what morshu9001 said. djshaneere You should not close all the java processes ether ONLY the javaw process in the task manager. If this does not work then restart your computer.

DrPyroCupcake Its not impossible to connect with ip when changing port. I have several servers on different ports and its working fine.

kungfuko no that is not what I meant, he could not connect with his original IP:25565 he would have to change it to IP:25564 in order to connect. It is impossible to connect to IP:25565 if you are running the server on port 25564. Also it would be a lot easier to go into the task manager like I said, then port forward a whole new port to get the server working. I also read another one of your post somewhere else and you got the persons java wrong, you said to download a 64 bit java when clearly by the start up script it was a 32 bit. You then pointed that out after you realized that the java wasn't working with the 64 bit. You wasted his time by having to download two versions and you wasted my time by making me read through your mistakes on several other post. I really think you should do some more research.
