CraftBukkit for Minecraft 1.7.2 DEVELOPMENT build is now available!

    Since Minecraft 1.7.2 was released on October 25th we've been putting in a ridiculous amount of work non-stop towards a CraftBukkit for Minecraft 1.7.2 and I am happy to finally be able to announce that we now have development builds available. We strongly suggest that you only use this build if you would like to help us get a Beta build out sooner and are experienced with using unsupported development builds.

    WARNING: Minecraft 1.7.2 is an update that requires clients to update before being able to connect.

    What is a Development Build?
    A Development build is provided AS IS and COMPLETELY UNSUPPORTED. You should only be running these builds if you are completely aware of how to properly make use of them. Support requests of ANY KIND will be removed without warning. If you have to ask where or how to get the development build, you should NOT be running it and posts of that nature will be deleted.

    Will plugins break with this build?
    Minecraft 1.7 is one of the most involved updates to date, with Mojang having touched a reported ~220k+ lines of code. As a result, a significant amount of the code base has shifted making it difficult to ensure any stability with regards to our API. That being said, it is difficult to determine if plugins will be breaking with our 1.7.2 update and the state of the API in our earlier development builds should NOT be relied upon in any way.

    That is a major graphic error in 1.7.2. It only affects clientside only and you can fix it with the latest compilation from Mojang's cache (snapshot).

    Thanks for your hard work, and it generally seems to work great, but.....

    The /summon command is unrecognized. Where should I report bugs?

    Tested on a few servers including my Windows Server 2012 superbeast and glad to report that everything is working fine for me. Thirty two plugins and so far for the past eight hours of continual use w/+20 people no errors to mention. I honestly did not expect a pre RB to be so damned good, great job guys!

    It appears that Bukkit is using Netty now as well? As I see a Netty package inside CraftBukkit now.

    Minecraft uses Netty now.

    So almost everything appears to be stable with this build. One bug I wish to report however is that when you have an iron door, you can't use a pressor plate or button to open them :/

    Surprisingly, only two of my plugins did not work, but the main plugins I rely on work like a charm! This is also a very smooth update, haven't had any issues so far! Good job Bukkit :)

    I dont want my logs compressed in .gz format. Can it be disabled? Is this a mojang or bukkit implementation?

    that is bukkit 1.7.2 bug, better you go to bukkit forum and report this bug so they can fix it on next release build.

    The server is running 1.7.2 and the server is working but multicraft is showing offline. I have had issues where everyone was showing online but there was no one on the server itself.

    @chaseoes Gravity EvilSeph and any other Bukkit development staff.

    Although I did find a small changelog of API items added, most were block additions and achievement additions (see my post on page 5). Are we going to see any new API improvements concerning
    • lore in chat
    • image in server list
    • server data in server list (player list, etc)
    • custom textures
    • shaders
    • links in chat (click players name, send message. I believe that could be moved into other applications, would be VERY useful)
    I know you just got a development release out, and probably are very fed up with the new 1.7 features list. Any news on API improvements would be very helpful though, and I think 1.7 opens up doors to some really cool stuff developers can add!

    TL;DR
    1.7 adds tons of cool stuff and I don't know if you plan on or have added them to the API yet.

    EDIT: It may have sounded like I'm criticizing the work done by the dev team. I'm not! It's great work done by great people. I'm just trying to get more info on the state of the developer API and see how it's going along, and give some ideas if they have not been implemented/planned yet.

    EvilSeph, you sell yourself, and the rest of the Bukkit team, short. I'm extremely pleased with how well the 1.7.2 dev build works. Most everything is working fine.

    You can suggest a resource pack to clients either in server.properties or Player#setTexturePack(String url) (not sure if that one works for resource packs)
    As it seems now, it -looks- (I'm absolutely not sure of that, since it was obfuscated code) like it that the /tellraw is just a chat packet (thus it -might- be that it works with sendMessage())
    Already in the dev javadocs :p

    wrecktify I actually like the logs being compressed. It would be nicer if they were in zip files, but gz is ok.
     
  25. Wow great job bukkit team on coming out with a release that fast! Im going to update my server with it right away!

    I was thinking the update wouldn't be out till mid December or later, but you guys got it out fast! Thank you!

    Found a Bug :3 Some times you cant type in the chat its really annoying you have to restart your server alot to make it work.

    Its compatible with 1.7.2 you silly guy :p

    Also New commands Are NOT added :/

    Tested all blocks in the game with a small plugin I made on CB #2930. No issues, all blocks render correctly with none causing crashes or exhibiting incorrect behaviour, with data values up to 32. Time to test items.
