    Permissions 3.0
Rcjrrcjr has been working quite hard on this upgrade to Permissions. However, it currently still suffers from a number of bugs. The most important of these which directly affects HeroChat is the non-functioning of prefixes and suffixes. There are less-than-pretty workarounds, but I'm refraining from fully supporting an update until Permissions 3.1 is released which should include a number of significant bug fixes. When this does occur, however, I have a build ready for you guys that should work. You can download it here. Again, I highly suggest not using this until Permissions 3.1 is released unless you really don't care about prefixes and such.

See you when I get back!

Is your config resetting when you make changes?
If you make changes to the config while the server is running, you need to use the /ch reload command to make the changes stick. I wish this message wasn't necessary, but people only seem to read things in big, bold, red text (if at all).

Have a problem? a feature request? Go here.
HeroChat now has its very own redmine found here. If you have an issue or would like to suggest a new feature, I urge you to file it via redmine. I will be checking this much more often than this thread from here on out.

Note quite. The format for lists in YAML would be

    Code:
    speak: ['Member', 'VIP:Roleplay', 'VIP:Builder', 'Moderator', 'Super_Admin', 'Server_Owner']

Is there any command or other method of forcing my players into the Local channel? They all seem to go to Global and chat even if they are way off in the wilderness exploring caves.

hi, it would be a great supplement to define areas, where the user can step in and enter / leave automaticly a chatroom:
in example for team-member-room or a courtroom (google translated).
or did i fail to see this function?
And can i anclose a player into a special chanel, like law-chanel?

    thanks for helping.

I love this, but I'm having a lot of trouble trying to get it to where when you type, by default it goes to the local channel. How do I do this?

I've gone into the configuration and changed it to:
    default-channel: Local

But it doesn't work. Can anyone help?

You mean something like /ch force <player> <channel> that forcibly changes a player's focused channel? This doesn't exist, but I'll consider adding it in the future. However, I don't think it's really a viable method of strictly enforcing use of local channels.

There was a plugin called EpicZones (I believe that was the name) that defined zones that forced users to join/leave a HeroChat channel upon entering/leaving the zone. I'm not sure if it's still supported, but I would search for it on here.

I have no idea what you mean by a law-channel.

Where is chat currently going by default? Note that this default channel is only applied the first time a user joins the server. From then on, HeroChat remembers what the player's active channel is between logins.

    Your config looks fine.

    Try the following:
    1. Make sure you are not logged into the server.
    2. Navigate to ../plugins/HeroChat/users/ and delete the file with your name ie. Bashur.yml.
    3. Log back in
    4. Send a message without using any commands
What channel does the message end up in?

How do name colors work? My default-message-format is '{color}[{nick}] &f{prefix}{player}{suffix}{color}:' yet even if I add &6 to my prefix (in permissions) my name is still broadcasted as white. Yet, if I make my prefix something like '&6[Admin] ' then the [Admin] shows up as gold but the name is still white. Help?

I'm using CraftBukkit Build 617, Permissions 2.5.5 EDIT: Oh, and I have 4.8.11 HeroChat

Anyway to implement the chat censor to light someone on fire or at least the ground below them whenever they trigger it, or maybe a certain word?

Post your entire HeroChat and Permissions configs on pastebin and provide me with a link.

This is something best handled by a separate plugin.

Since the new Recommended Build for Bukkit is out (as of not very long ago at all, like an hour or something) I have updated my server and I'm posting on the threads for all the plug ins I use to let people know how the plug ins are doing. I won't be able to fully test everything (it is almost midnight my time and I need to sleep :p) but I figure this way we can at least get things started :)

In the logs, here is all I have (after just firing up the server) for HeroChat:
    Code:
2011-04-08 07:45:22 [INFO] [HeroChat] HeroChat version 4.8.11 enabled.
    ...{other plugins loading here}
    2011-04-08 07:45:22 [INFO] [HeroChat] Permissions 2.5.5 found.
When I type in game, I still have my prefix and the text shows up, so that is encouraging :)

So basic testing shows that HeroChat seems to still work in the latest RB of Bukkit (#670) :) Some other people should probably test this a bit more extensively just to be sure, though.

Note: This is what the log says about the Bukkit version, for those who want to know: 2011-04-08 07:45:20 [INFO] This server is running Craftbukkit version git-Bukkit-0.0.0-646-gb61ef8c-b670jnks (MC: 1.4)

It shows the prefixes doubled here and it rewrites the cfg every time I restart the server.
    Please help me!

Double prefixes are usually caused by having another plugin that also adds prefixes installed. If you have anything like EssentialsChat or iChat installed, disable them.

If you make changes to the config while the server is running, you need to do a /ch reload either in game or in the console to push the changes to the server. If this isn't done, restarting/reloading the server will revert the changes.

    @DThielke
Figured out my issue; it was fucking retarded
I still had a folder from EssentialsGroupManager in there for some dumbass reason and it was conflicting with it. Or at least I guess thats what it was because I load up the server and it works fine now.

    Glad you figured it out.

This is what I get with your configs (all I did was change your name to mine under users):

So, your configs are fine. Try changing your user prefix to something entirely different to confirm that it's properly loading the prefix from the right place.

Yeah, definitely pulling the prefix from the right spot. At this point I suppose I can assume that it's neither HeroChat or Permissions, rather I probably have some other plugin adding some text to the player name? Any issues pop into your head with the following:
    Essentials
    mcMMO
    Factions

Those are the only plugins I can think of that could possibly impact chat, I'm going to go poke around in their configs.

EDIT: I tried changing the color of one of my members (no reason really, just thought I'd try) and it worked. I'm assuming this is some glitch with the Essentials Op config, even though I thought I set that to 'none'. Unless you have any idea how I could fix this (without de-opping) I guess it's solved.

Make sure EssentialsChat is disabled if you have it.

No, I don't have essentials chat, but just look at my edit. :/

Interesting. I'd bring it up with Essentials.

I was just wondering, many plugins DO in fact, use MySQL/SQLite
