Enchant Items With Effects

Plugin category: fun, and maybe roleplay, whatever you see fit

    Suggested name: EnchantEffects

What I want: I've been looking around and haven't been able to find something that I want. I would like a plugin that is easy to use, and lets you do the simple task of enchant items with effects (potion effects). You could have new enchanted books for each effect enchantment or you could have a command, or both. The enchant command should work for the default enchantments too, just to keep it easy. I would like this to work on all items, not just normally enchanted tools.
This plugin would be useful for many things. You could enchant a helm that gives the wearer night vision, boots that give speed or jump, and sword that poisons whoever you attack, etc, and those would just be a few useful ones, you could make a shovel that give fire protection if you hit someone with it for all you care. Also, again, it should be able to be used on miscellaneous items too, an example of this that could be fun is enchanting potions with nausea and acting as if it's some sort of alcohol. So to shorten all that up, I am looking for someone to make a easy to use plugin, that allows the player to enchant items with effects, and it'd be great that if someone does take their time to make this if they would stay with it and update it when needed, like if new effects are implemented in the game. Thanks

As a side note, I'd like a way to sell enchanted items, as with most shop plugins (like ChestShop) it seems you cannot. Thanks Again

Ideas for commands: /eneff help - lists commands
/eneff enchant [enchantment] [level] (level for effects would go up by time, then by effect power, ex. /eneff enchant poison 10 would be poison II for about 10 seconds, whereas level 2 would be poison I for a minute)
    /eneff disenchant [enchantment]
/eneff enchantlist (this would include various aliases)
/eneff godmode [true/false] [player] would set it individually wether it would cost user levels to enchant
and also a /eneff name [name] would be nice to name the item, as I found it troublesome to have to get out an anvil every time I want to name something, this command would still cost experience for those who aren't /eneff godmode true

Ideas for permissions: permissions so that you can set it so only ops or other groups/individuals can use it, except possibly individual permission for the /eneff name command

When I'd like it by: A reasonable time, I'd say before the update after 1.7 at latest. Thanks

This sounds awesome, Ill defiantly do it. So you want
    • Potion Enchanted armor to give the effects when worn
    • Potion Enchanted Weapons/Tools to give effect when hit with them
    • Potion Enchanted items to give effect when used
    Is this correct?

Felpalidan yes, thankyou. and for unusable items like a stick it would act like a weapon/tool

Felpalidan, do you have an estimated time as to when you will be done with this?

At this point, you probably think Im that one guy. I was adding something super complex, I looked at your original post, and I realized it was not necessary at all. Oops. I did however, have a question about the command to enchant the item. What I can do, and would be nice, is to make the command be

    /enenchant poison 2 20

What that would do is make it so its a level 2 enchant that lasts 20 seconds when applied. What I can do in the config is make it so you can set how many levels it costs for each level, and how many for every [configurable amount] seconds. That sound good?

So what you mean is it would be Poison II for 20 seconds? and all that should be fine, thanks for doing all of this, and sorry if you feel like I'm rushing you sometimes.

Yea. So far I have the base stuff for name changing and normal enchants. I have what I want to do for the effects planned, implementing it might be a bit of trouble, but I'll see what I can do.

Ive made some very nice progress. I have all the regular armor enchants working, config and all. I also have item naming working. The main highlight is the effects are starting to work. I have a demo of night vision on armor done, and it works without flaws. I am currently uploading a video of it, and will link said video when it finishes uploading.

  13. Never mind, I misread one part of this thread.

can you make this plugin for 1.6.*? It seems like a lot of people have 1.6.2\1.6.4 :)

It is made for 1.6, there is no bukkit 1.7 yet so also no 1.7 API ( Spigot 1.7 is not supported! )

Have not gotten that much of a chance to work on it this week, however, I did finish some very important code today. Poison should be able to be applied to swords today, and much more, if all goes well.

I think I have it working, I'll have to see when I get home. After that, the only things left would be adding the few other cases and polishing the code, and of course, fixing bugs, and finalizing getting stuff from the config.
