Bukkit takes great pride in providing the community with plugins that are free from malicious code through our plugin hosting site, BukkitDev. This commitment to the community means we need to have many talented and dedicated individuals available to help us with file and project approvals around the clock and around the world.

Due to amount of hard work, time, and dedication it takes to provide this service to the community, we are looking for more talented, trustworthy individuals to help us keep approval times low. Developers want to see their plugins approved regularly and within a reasonable amount of time, while server admins want to be able to download the latest version of the plugins they use as quickly as possible.

    Applicants must:
    • Have Java experience
    • Have submitted at least one plugin to BukkitDev that is not a basic generic plugin
    • Be a good community member
    • Be able to connect to and be readily available on IRC (Esper)
If you think you would be a good fit in our BukkitDev Approval Team and would like to help us keep the queue moving at a reasonable pace, we invite you to submit an application to join our team of dedicated individuals who tirelessly go through hundreds of projects and files each week. Please apply at bukkitdev -dash- applications -at- bukkit -dot- org with the details below:

The subject of your email should be:
    Code:
    BukkitDev Application: [Username]

The body of your email should be:
    Code:
    Name:
    Age:
    Location and Timezone:
    Bukkit Forums Username:
    BukkitDev Username:
    IRC Username:
Why do you feel you would make a good BukkitDev Staff member?
When are you available to dedicate time to BukkitDev?
Have you used BukkitDev before to host your projects? If so, provide links!

    (Hint: Ctrl+Shift+V pastes without formatting...)

As we're fully aware of how much delays within the Approval Queue affect plugin developers and server admins alike, we've decided to promote someone intimately familiar with the approval process to the role of BukkitDev Team Lead. Effective immediately, Gravity's sole responsibility is to ensure your experience with BukkitDev is a fantastic one. As part of his new role, he'll be actively handling BukkitDev Approval Team applications and managing the BukkitDev Approval Team.

Please join me in congratulating Gravity on his new role and responsibilities!

gomeow I know they wont reply VIA email, but how will I know? Will I just have to check my profile if I get the banner under my name to the left? Or what?

You will be contacted in some way, likely through IRC.

I'll probably apply later in the summer if applications are still open then, I have exams right now so making a commitment at this time + finishing developing a plugin is too much to handle.

I am not staff but from past questions applications are always open, but will be used when needed which may not be right away.

No automated reply? Did you send it to the email mentioned in the OP?

I would send in another email to the one in this thread. You'll notice they're not the same, and while the old ones are still open, these are more... relevant.

DBO staff have nothing to do with the bukkit code anyways.

Any self-respecting plugin should contain some code, should it not?

Is this position still open? I applied a while ago and have become more fluent with java, more active on the IRC, more active on the website, and would like to re-apply for a chance to prove my worth and hopefully make it as one of the staff here. :) So, to current staff, is this still open? Do you think with my increased knowledge and such I should re-apply?

    Thanks,
    Trevor

Just re-apply rather than asking :p

Well, they keep all the applications open. If they need more people to be not the team, they sift through the applications and pick people who are most qualified for the position. So I wouldn't recommend re-applying =P If meet the criteria to join, they'll ask you.

If you feel that something has changed about you since your last application, please feel free to either re-apply or respond to your original application with new/changed information. If you do choose to re-apply, just note that you are doing so so that we can disregard your previous email.

    Thanks guys!

Are the Moderator applications from the other thread still open/active or is it just BukkitDev Staff applications now? :)

    Gravity

They're always open, but there's definitely a focus on BukkitDev Staff that keeps pace with the traffic to the website. It takes a lot more staff to do review than to moderate the forums.

Agreed. I was trying to decide which role would benefit the project most if I chose it and I guess the current priority is getting plugins approved as fast as possible, as the forums are managed very well at present ^_^

    Gravity

    One more question :p

Is the application format above a neccesity (is there a filter ensuring it is stuck too) or can I write it in a different format so long as all the required information is there and easily accesible?

EDIT by Moderator: merged posts, please use the edit button instead of double posting.

There's no filtering, but we do have a format for a reason. As long as it does have all the required information, you should be alright, but try to stick to the format wherever possible.

I'll do my format but also include a summarised version of my application in the specified format at the bottom of my email, just to stay on the safe (and understandable :p) side.

Well seeing as the staff use IRC for communications and you need to have submitted a plugin, i really dont see why you bothered to post here seeing as you dont meet the requirements

    Sorry?
Are you asking about the automated response or a response from one of us concerning your application?
