    NetherGate - A plugin that uses multi-world to create a completely automatic Nether experience.

    If you're using Essnetials, go no further.

    Essentials breaks NetherGate in strange and frustrating ways, I'm not going to support it anymore. I'll try and get this resolved by NG beta, at which point I'll remove this message.

    Use
    To use NetherGate, drop the required jars in your plugins folder.

    Then you can create and light a portal to travel to the nether!

    Downloads
    Grab elBukkit.zip to get all of my plugins- take out the ones you don't want.

    Doesn't seem to work for me. Just like it was before for Multiplayer.

    Never mind I timed out and now I can't get back into my own server.

    How slow is your server?

    On first portal, your nether world gets created- this can take some time if you're not on a dedicated machine. I assume you're tailing your server logs when testing out new plugins, yeah? It should give you progress as it creates the nether.

    And you should certainly be able to log in once it's done (my server does not boot me during this process, btw, but ymmv).

    If you really can't get back in, then I'd have to suggest you shut down and pull the plugin. Good luck!

    Just thought I'd confirm that renaming NG to have alphabetical precedence over essentials does nothing. It's as if you never changed the name.

    So still no word from Zenexer?

    So I am using this netherworld plugin and it works great, however I have suggestion. I dont know if it is another plugin causing this or not, but when I type /home in the nether, it takes me to spawn in the normal world. I would really like to disable this. I think /home either shouldnt work in the nether or it should take you to the nether spawn. Having home take you back to the other world defeats the purpose of making the nether hard. You just go in, mine a bunch of stuff and home out to safety. It should be a bit of a challenge to get out with the resources you collected.

    Use NG's home system ("/nether home go" and "/nether home set") if you want multi-world compliant homes. I can't and won't speak for any plugins but my own "behaving" with multi-world.

    However, NG does define a home world as well as location.

    Honestly, I'm not sure what you're expecting? /home (or /nether home go) takes the player to his or her home. If you don't want them to have that ability, don't give them that command :)

    It's basically teleportation, and you're giving it out for free. Yes, it's powerful and game-breaking, you made that choice by allowing your players to do it.

    So, is your notion that players should not be able to use "/home" while in the nether? Because I believe you can accomplish that with per-world permissions, using the Permissions plugin.

    I was just meaning if it is possible for your plugin to intercept the /home command somehow and turn it into a /spawn command instead that takes the player to the nether world spawn point. But I guess you probably cant do that so whatever :( Still a great plugin

    If you're using permissions, just remove the home/spawn permission from your netherworld's permission file, or use a home/spawn plugin that supports multiworld.

    Ok so I am having a problem. I only have the permissions set for myself to create portals, have an air pocket, create a platform if needed, and use portals. However anyone on my server can make portals, it creates an air pocket on the other side, it adds the frame in, and they can all use portals. It actually seems like I am the only one who doesnt get some of the stuff even though I am the one with the permissions. So.... any ideas? Yes I have PermissionsSupport.jar in the plugins as well. This is my permissions file for the only listings of the nether permissions:

    permissions:

    - 'general.admin'
    - 'NetherGate.portal.create'
    - 'NetherGate.portal.use'




    EDIT: and now on this server restart, it creates a frame around where I teleport to, and I don't have that in the permissions anywhere.

    I mean, I could do that, but I certainly won't!

    So.... you want /home to take you to spawn? Why give out /home at all then? I'm really confused...

    Permission to use portals, get an air pocket created, and a platform created, are default permissions. You must deny these, not grant them. Hope that helps!

    It seems I'm having a problem. Minecraft freezes and I get DCed sometimes after coming back from the nether.

    My minecraft screen goes black and I get kicked off the server, and it seems to happen within a few minutes after I get back from the nether, but not instantly, which is why I didn't make any connection at first. I get "Minecraft is not responding" in task manager for a couple of minutes, and I can't stop the process, so I have to wait it out. It's only happened a few times so far, but I don't go to the nether very often yet. Ever heard of this before?

    Actually, no- you're the first :(

    What build of CB are you running? I need to get all my stuff running on latest and test, it's been a while.

    You need to build one, for now.

    Bring obsidian with you, or use "/nether kit"

    Or, use "/nether world go" to get back.

    You need permissions for console commands, though.

    Quick question on the wiki for this, two permissions are listed for "create". Are all the permissions like this:
    NetherGate.commands.nether.world.create

    or like this:
    NetherGate.portal.create

    I can't stress that enough. Bring a flint+steel too!

    Build a gate on the other side, light, and walk through. Safely back home.

    Two very different permissions, so great question!

    NetherGate.commands.nether.world.create means you can use the "/nether world create" command in-game to create a whole new world. You won't be able to get there without using some other console commands though :)

    NetherGate.portal.create means that a portal will be created for you automatically on the other side if you go through. Giving out this permission is another solution to @Komavok's question, but I more complex one from "bring some obsidian" IMO :)

    NetherGate.portal.create will be one of the default permissions given out once NetherGate enters beta.

    Can you try "nether world list" from your server console, and copy+paste the results here, please?

    Had some performance problems so I updated in an attempt to remedy it. What build do you recommend I use?
    It's only happened about three or four times. At first I didn't even connect it with NG, but the last time it happened (right before I posted about it), it hit me that it happened after leaving the nether every time. I think...

    556 is the latest I've tested with- so I guess I'm still ahead of you :)

    I'm still having memory leak / performance issues on my server, so I really want to test with latest.

    FYI, I'm fairly sure NG is broken with latest RB. I know Spells and Wand are- the player item event changed. Entity damage changed, too- and NG uses that, so I'm assuming it's broken though I haven't gotten to it yet.

    I plan to release an update soon that supports latest RB- it will probably only support latest RB. Not sure how I'm supposed to maintain backwards compatibility with last 3 releases for changes like this :p

    Eek! What happened to my chunk loaded event??

    So, I need to release an update, soon. I'm working on it now- Spells and Wand are also broken in latest RB, due to the player item event changing to interact.

    Thanks for bringing this to my attention- I hadn't gotten to NetherGate yet :(

    I don't know if I'm just being stupid, but when I click the link to download nethergate.jar and persistence.jar it takes me to a "Welcome to elMakers" page that wants me to log in. Do I need an account with them to download it?

    Oooh, working!

    No, I'm changing hosting providers- the links will get fixed soon. In fact, www.elmakers.com currently takes me to my minecraft map, so you may be more up to date than I am :)

    And, yeah... that main page should be public :p

    Update released for latest CB build (577). Update all jars, or grab elBukkit.zip.

    Problem, I dont have essentials but i do have TheYeti Permissions, and i can't tp to the nether.

    14:14:12 [INFO] nether (nether) : 0x -> world

    that's what it said when i did /nether world list, and could the three worlds be the problem? thanks.

    Also, i found that regular default members could but anyone higher than that couldn't. Weird huh?

    Many of my players report that when they leave the nether with an aggro from a Ghast on them, they are still targeted and can die from ghast attacks in the normal world. Logging off for 3 minutes and coming back fixes the problem.

    Anything that can be done in the plugin about this? Maybe add a line that when a telleport is initialized (as in when you leave the nether or go into it) it cancels all monster aggro that is currently on you? That shouldnt take away from anything in the game as monsters can re-aggro you if your in the area, but would fix the Ghasts from targeting players in the normal world.
