With the Minecraft 1.3 release date fast approaching, a lot of people are wondering when we will be releasing a CraftBukkit Recommended Build for Minecraft 1.3. We hope this short announcement will answer those questions.

Due to the size of the impending 1.3 update, we are unable to guarantee that we'll have a compatible CraftBukkit Recommended Build out in time for the release of Minecraft 1.3. Although we started working on the update immediately after the Minecraft 1.3 preview was made available to the public, a lot of things were added, removed and changed in Minecraft from 1.2.5 and, as such, this update requires more work than usual to get things up and running. That being said, we'll continue to do our best to get an update out within a reasonable amount of time and will likely follow our usual policy of promoting the first Recommended Build the moment we get something that compiles and runs without any testing done whatsoever.

As we have done a significant amount of important work on CraftBukkit 1.2.5 builds since our last RB, we'll be promoting a new Recommended Build shortly. This is done so that people have a reliable, stable build to use until we can get a 1.3 compatible build out and so that everyone who relies on Recommended Builds are able to take advantage of all the fixes, improvements and so on we've done since the last 1.2.5 RB.

Thank you for your patience, understanding and continued support; we greatly appreciate it!

Usually some will, but you never know, you'll have to test the plugins when you update it (When CraftBukkit 1.3.1 RB1.0 comes out) and go from there, you always should test everything before releasing to the public after a new CraftBukkit Build comes out.

Well, if it's that far it's that far, deal with it and be patient, it'll come out when it does.

I'll be happy when it does, I'll be able to re-release my server so that'll be awesome.

The team is working on it though. You do not need to PM me, I won't tell you anything other than that.

I think the bukkit team should charge some arbitrary amount to answer silly questions related to things like this.
Or the people asking these questions should donate to the project. If all you can contribute is nonsense/inane, pointless questions, you should have to contribute monetarily. -.-

Fact of the matter is, the devs that work on Bukkit are doing so for free. They could be using their time for personal projects, spending time with family and friends, but instead are developing something that you get to use for free to run your server.

The most grating part of this is that many of these servers accept donations or sell premium ranks.. how much of that do you think gets passed back to bukkit?

As much as I can I pass mine back to the devs of my plugins and Bukkit itself. However, now we're getting off topic.

Update status: Banana% of the way there - but I'm using pyraetos 's pyraemath lib, which is known to count to potatoe at times.

Wow, good idea. Im going to forward a percentage of all my donations to bukkit team members... Not being sarcastic either, i usually just spend donation money on computer parts for the server which i don't really need. I just need to find a fair % :p

I completely agree with everything you said and understand that it is hard work to update. Some people don't understand that you don't get paid and do this for nothing in return. I do have a few questions though. Does Mojang release updates to your staff privately before the update is released to the public? I understand that it is hard work but do you have a general idea when the update for 1.3 will come out? Thank you for all your hard work. Please reply.

Seems almost none of it. Regular players don't see what Bukkit Devs do, so they think all the work is from the Owners when most of it isn't, all we Owners do is set up the plugins, and the tad bit of coding we need to do to start it, we don't code at all compared to what the Devs here do, and they get almost nothing.

Maybe try something small and increase as more donations come? Start at like 10% and slowly move up in percentage the larger your donations get to, I might do this as well.

That's what all my IRC updates are.

Current Bukkit Status: Accidentally deleted EntityPlayer.java, early tests indicate not a problem.

Removed, will you be re-adding it or leaving as is because it doesn't cause a problem.

You have no idea what you are talking about.

I'll tell you what. You update CraftBukkit, and have all of these children complain at you. Then, you can come back and say this.

Totally your fault. You should have forseen this, it's not difficult.

IF you had been keeping up with what has been happening regarding the bukkit team recently, you would have seen that a few of their members were hired by Mojang, for the 1.4 API. Bukkit is just another community-built and community-supported project, Mojang don't need to and have no real interest in giving bukkit earlier access. There have been weekly snapshots anyway, as well as the RCB being released a few days before release. How much more would you like Mojang to support the community?

Not to be rude or anything.. And I'm probably just not informed properly about it.. But I thought the reason Jeb released the 1.3.1 pre-release a few days ago, was so that modders and the Bukkit Team had time to prepare their stuff ahead of time, for the official 1.3.1 launch?
I'm sure I'd be wrong in a discussion about it.lol

You guys have been working your butts off, every time there's an update. So I'm certainly not complaining.. I'm more wishing that Mojang would make it easier on yall. =/

No, it's finished when it's finished, things could go wrong, or be better than expected.

That maybe true, but it was also for the players who wanted to see the features of 1.3.1 because it would keep players at bay and prevent them from riding up Mojang.

I applaud the Bukkit guys for all their hard work.

If anything, Mojang needs to incorporate a rollback feature in their client to allow your players ( that upgrade their client at login ) to be able to roll back their version so they will be able to re-connect to your bukkit server.

I hate the thought of running a stock 1.3 mc server right now, so I'm going to just hope and pray that my player base is smart enough not to upgrade until there is a working 1.3 bukkit

  30. Hurry up please, my server is down slightly.

No guarantees, but I copy my jar now so I can still access my server, if you own a server, ALWAYS copy your old minecraft.jar BEFORE you update so you can still access your server.

Dude, wait, you have to realize that they have been doing this for a while, and want a good, stable build for us. You should've kept your old jar file anyways.
