If you consider adding a few lines to a permissions file to be straining, then you really shouldn't be running a server let alone complaining about one. :p

Is there a way to disable the lightning when joining and un-vanish? and/or a way to disable the vanishing when u join?

    mbaxter ʇıʞʞnq ɐ sɐɥ ı

If that's happening on join, you have given yourself the permission nodes, probably through vanish.*.

If you don't want those to happen, go back through your nodes and only assign permission nodes you want - http://vanishnopacket.github.com/permissions/

i'm not sure what u really mean. and i didn't do the vanish.* cause i only did the * for me, sense i'm the owner of the server...and i didn't feel like putting all the other nodes like essential.* and disguisecraft.*, etc. so i just put the '*' in...i didn't know if there was somethin in the config to disable it. which there isn't...

Ok, then negate the nodes you don't want off that list :)

    1. How do I turn off this annoying chat block?
    2. Is it somehow possible to turn the effects, or do I have to do it every time in log in?

    1. You've given yourself the vanish.nochat node.
    2. You've given yourself the effects nodes.

How do I disable the lightning? I've tried setting the count to 0 and it won't work. I tried -1 too. It's very annoying.

Don't grant yourself the node vanish.effects.lightning
If you have the * node, negate vanish.effects.*

Tested it for mods, and mods get the lightning effect too.

Edit: I know Owner has all permissions, but why does Mod have the lightning effect and Admin also?

    Here's the permissions: http://pastebin.com/MmbL0vsz

    Huh. Let's find out.

In the vanishnopacket config, set permtest to true
In your server console say vanish reload

Have one of your mods join the server
Now join your server (or quit and rejoin) and type: /permtest MODNAME vanish.effects.lightning
Where MODNAME is the mod's username.

    I'm curious what it says.

Say's it isn't a command. I did /vanish reload first and it didn't work then I reloaded the server and it still says it isn't a command.

Edit: Lightning is gone now. I don't know what I did to fix it, honestly.

Update to 1.3.1-R1.0 (or downgrade to vanishnopacket 3.11) You're using the version of VanishNoPacket clearly labeled as requiring 1.3.1 ;)

I am currently running a server using this plug-in, and the only thing that really bothers me is the fact of whenever I vanish or reappear, there is a ton of lightning. I have gone through the configuration file and set lightning count to 0 and it is still the same. Also, I did see the post about the permission nodes, but for the permissions for me and the other owner, it is just '*'. Is there anyway to remove those nodes, without it being a huge pain to rewrite the permissions for us?
