Towny includes a wide variety of features to offer instant enhancements to your traditional Minecraft server.
    • Allows players to own and manage land based on a pre-set grid layout.
      • Players join towns and purchase plots of land.
      • Players decide who can build, destroy, use "switchs" and use items on every plot they control.
      • Towns can join together into nations, further structuring a server into teams.
      • Towns grant protection from monsters, pvp, fire, explosions and greifing.
    • Wilderness Rules (Optional)
      • Area between towns is wilderness, with its own build permissions.
      • Limit players' interaction with the wild to just harvest-able blocks, keeping the wild pristine.
      • Roll-back tnt, creeper, wither explosions, dragon damage and endermen block-moving.
      • Block explosions and fire.
    • PVP Enhancements
      • Server with a strong PVP aspect will find Towny's grouping of players to be invaluable.
      • Prevent friendly-fire. (Optional)
      • Nations split players into larger teams.

    • Teleporting/Warping and Spawning (Optional)
      • Players can spawn to their town upon death.

  2. do you mean make a chest available to ALL residents of a town? If so...

The dev build of Towny will brak lockette and Acro seems awol again.
Look at Deadbolt as a replacement. It allows you to put signs exactly the same as lockette, yet it is updated
You can make signs for a specific town residents etc.

So if I want to allow only residents (of all towns) to have a private chests/doors and so on, I must use DeadBolt, right?

Whether a resident can use lockette or deadbolt is not up to towny, it is up to your permission plugin.

Towny requires players to have towny.town.resident in order for them to join a town. Put that node in your builder group and also give that group the lockette or deadbolt permission nodes used to lock chests. Make sure your default group does not have either nodes.

ehm ehm i'm not so good with PermissionEX.

if this is my perm http://pastebin.com/HeBTb1eJ how can I set a sub-permission to -towny.town.resident? (the first group is the default group).

Again, I don't really understand what you mean here: "how can I set a sub-permission to -towny.town.resident?"

  7. SO
You want players who are members of towns to be able to use lockette/deadbolt, but not those who build in the wild?

In your towny config.yml find the bypass_version_check and set it to true.

Read the mayor section of the How Towny Works wikipage. Its not super simple to do, but it works.

Make sure you're on Vault's latest dev build, they've adjusted their code to work off our new dev builds.

(You also need to be using the newest dev build of towny)

  15. Lockette supports this and has a special node you have to grant to allow placing signs in the wild when using Towny.
However, lockette is about to break with the next release of Towny and Acru seems awol again.

Deadbolt is a Lockette replacement but it doesn;t 'yet' support the wilderness signs feature.
So as an alternative simply deny the permission to place signs in the wild.

I realized that people couldn't build in the wild on my server but every time I try to change something in the Config.yml towny locks in safe mode. What do I do?

Sorry, what is Dev ? I´ve the latest towny version ?

  23. Safe mode is nothing to do with editing the config. Bad edits of the config cause the config to reset.
Safe mode means you have corrupt data.

Do you give them the permissions ?

That's what im wondering about, how to give it to them. Is it a in-game-command or is there something I have to do in config? Thanks for the reply=)

Do you have a permissions Plugin ?

I've downloaded the Essentials Core to the server. But I still cant find any permissions in the config.yml controlling that players can create towns.

Er, sorry, but I have the same question, and I'm still confused. Are you talking about this section?
    http://code.google.com/a/eclipselabs.org/p/towny/wiki/HowTownyWorks#Mayors

Is it saying that I need to create a server town within the worldguarded area, so that other players can't put their own townblocks there?
(If so, is there a way that I as admin can get more townblocks than my town of zero population would otherwise have, so that I can cover the whole area?)
(On a related note, is there a way I can allow everyone to build within the townblocks so long as they have worldguard access, without me having to add them to the town, so that they could both maintain a small house in the server town while having a house in a player-owned town?)

Also, noob questions: Is there a way I can mandate set amounts of each kind of townblock (ie, require that, say, 10 of a town's townblocks must be "wild")?
For war flags, is there a way I can make the price based on the relative size of the two towns/nations, instead of a fixed amount?
Similarly, for "bonus" townblocks, is there a way I can either make their price increase as more are bought (ie, the first one costs 1000, the second 2000, the third 4000...), or else have townblocks given directly by the admin (me) without players being able to buy them?
(Yes, I read the wiki. I still don't understand most of Towny. :/)

Ok, I'm getting the "You feel so lonely" messages, even when given the * permission node and OP.

Edit: Fixed by visiting IRC. Thanks!
